Chapter 3: Falling up
THIRD PERSON
The dark room was entirely silent, and nothing more than a Luxray and Umbreon slept quietly against their appropriate couches. The stagnating air meant something else to everyone in the mansion, and it couldn't be more prominent as of now.
"Luster?" A quiet voice shattered the silence, causing a pair of bright red eyes to stare back at two yellow ones.
"Yeah..?" A lower voice grumbled—it was easy to tell they seemed to be completely exhausted.
"Oh...you're awake," the higher voice huffed lightly and nervously stared around, "I don't know how to sleep in this place—everything is so...eerie."
"I was doing just fine," Luster mumbled and rose to his feet—however not before gently stretching his body.
"I'm sorry," Luna cleared his throat and locked eyes with Luster once again.
"Don't worry about it," Luster shook his head and leaped off the comfortable couch, gazing around the large area, "listen, you sleep and I'll just stay awake. Think of it as a look-out or something."
"But aren't you tired?" The Umbreon's head tilted quizzically.
"Not anymore, at least," Luster's eyes met the dark type's, "just rest and I'll sleep once you have," he offered once again.
"Okay..." Luna nodded in affirmation before curling up into a small ball—his head comfortably planted against a pillow.
No one knew how they were going to mentally and physically last in this torturous mansion. All they knew is that with the trust of others, maybe they could all just survive.
But that 'maybe' is such a big word...

Bigby's POV
Sharing a room with Loki wasn't all that bad, in fact, it was quite fun.
No, not that type of fun. Sharing conversations about our past—that we don't even remember—seemed to earn us a close bond.
"Goodmorning," Loki giggled from the other side of the bed.
"Morning..." I groggily mumbled from my side of the bed. It seemed like our room had only one bed, so Loki and I had to share. Thankfully, nothing too intimate happened last night.
"I wonder what we're going to do today—I also hope no one got hurt," her words sparked something into my brain. I nearly forgot the words that Sam spoke—which now reverberated around my head. We're in a killing game.
"Didn't she say that the first person to kill gets to leave the mansion? That seems...too easy," I offered my opinion while sitting up on the bed.
The Zoroark nodded, her eyes locking with mine. "Yeah, I just wondered if we could escape with brute force."
"Did you see her guards? Those were a lot of Inteleon and Gengar," I scratched the back of my head in worry, causing Loki to nod.
"We have to find a good method of escaping—I guess one where we're hidden," Loki huffed.
"You can't guarantee that she's not watching us right now, either," I glared around the large room, "so we can't even form a strategy without her knowing."
"We'll figure out something," Loki stretched, a soft groan of pleasure escaping her lips as she stood up, "hopefully very soon."
"Yeah..." I huffed.

Zantai's POV
You know, being roommates with Vince wasn't as bad at first...if you don't count being woken up at one in the morning from the cold—only because he steals the entire bedsheet for himself.
Other than that, my sleep was surprisingly good.
"The hell we suppose to do now?" Vince's slurred speech echoed around the room, "I don't wanna fuckin' die, ye?"
"I'm pretty sure I don't want to either, man," I rose off the bed, staring at the Greninja from the other side of the room, "but if we don't leave someone could just waltz in here committing bullshit."
"I guess yer right..." Vince groaned in stress, "I really want a good 'ol drink right about now."
"You drink?" I scoffed lightly, "who could have guessed?" I ended my tone with a hint of sarcasm.
"Are ye trying to say people like me drink?" Vince hissed, a moment of silence filled the air, "well you bet yer ass they do."
I laughed lightly at his comment and shifted to open the door. "Aight then..." I took a deep breath and twisted the doorknob. Quickly, I shoved the door open to see...
"Morning," Luster murmured to me.
"Damn, you two are awake already?" I wave to the Luxray and tilt my head upon noticing him with an Umbreon, "what was your name by the way? I don't think I heard you the first time."
"Luna..." the male Umbreon replied. I found it quite odd how such a name can be given to a male, but who am I to judge?
"Ha! You have a fuckin' girl's name!?" Vince bursts out of the room, his laughter filling the once quiet air. I gripped him by the arm in reaction, stopping him entirely.
"How 'bout we not do that?" I frowned, my eyes glaring down at him. He frowned back at me and sighed.
"It's jus' my opinion," he chuckled upon seeing the Umbreon once again and trampled away from the group.
"I'm sorry 'bout him," I heaved a sighed.
"How did you even sleep with him?" Luster raised a brow, his golden eyes questioning me.
"I barely did," I waved a talon around, "but it doesn't matter now..." my head shifted to gaze around at all the room doors, "it seems like no one but us woke up."
"It's quite early," Luna's quiet voice filled the air, "I wouldn't expect anyone awake at this hour."
"We need everyone awake at this hour—you never know when Sam will come bac—"
"Goodmorning, everyone!" A door slammed open as a large Incineroar confidently made his way into the living room.
"Someone looks like they just got laid," I scoffed at Xeonix.
"You can say I did!" Xeonix grinned happily at me.
"Nothing like that happened!" Sammy hissed as she paced out of the room behind the Incineroar.
"Admit it, I'm just too much for you," Xeonix laughed lightly and flexed his muscles, causing the Braixen behind him to roll her eyes in annoyance.
"Why are you so confident and happy all the time?" Luster hopped off the couch to confront the Incineroar.
"Because if I'm not..." Xeonix frowned, his fur gaining a more fiery texture, "you'd all be scared..." his words caused the room to grow in silence. "Anyways, I'm hungry," he yawned and trudged away from the group—seemingly into a kitchen.
"I still haven't seen the whole place yet—all I did yesterday was go to be in sadness," I cleared my throat and stood tall, gazing around the room, "you all can explore it though, I'm going to wake everyone up."
I earned a nod from the two remaining Pokemon and shifted my body to pace up to the nearest door.
"Hydra and Nightshade...wonder if they're awake or not," I shrugged and knocked lightly against the door. There was no response, but I lightly pressed my ear against the door to confirm if there was sound or not.
The room was entirely silent, and it worried me. My talons lowered to grip the doorknob, and in reaction, I checked to see if it was locked or not. I twisted it carefully and gently pushed forward, silently gasping to find it out it was not locked.
Inside was completely dark, and a horrible feeling circled my stomach. The only light that emanated was from behind me, and it only gleamed against the messy sheets. I barely eased my twisting stomach, attempting to open my mouth to speak.
My feet froze before I could enter the room, and it felt like someone—no, something was stopping them.
"What do you want?" A deep voice murmured from inside of the room, causing me to gulp in fear.
"H-Hydra...I was just trying to wake everyone up..." I barely mumbled.
"A knock should suffice," he lightly hissed back.
"You didn't reply..."
"Am I forced to?" The Lucario muttered and suddenly, the groggy tone in his voice came to a stop. "I'm sorry...I'm just not a morning person..." he sighed as the feeling of my heavy feet relieved.
I pushed the door wide open, revealing two Pokemon cuddling near each other on the bed. Nightshade's head was resting comfortably on his chest, her arm curled around his abdomen.
"Looks like you two got really...close?" I tilted my head, a slight smile tugging at my muzzle.
"She did this in her sleep...if she wakes up she'll probably slap me," Hydra shrugged and ran his paw against her head with care, "I wouldn't want to wake her up...so I'm staying here for a little," he muttered quietly as I nodded.
I backed away from the room and quietly pulled against the door. "Lock your door next time," I warned and shut it entirely, gazing behind me.
"What's going on in there?" Loki smiled teasingly at me.
"Oh, you know," I smiled back at her and paced away from the room, "something we'll have to get accustomed to seeing very soon."
"What's that supposed to mean?" The Zoroark chuckled lightly at my words, following suit behind me.
"You'll find out soon," I smirked, peering at her from my shoulder. The Zoroark lightly shrugged at my words and paced up next to me.
"How did you sleep?" She smiled lightly at me.
"Good. Lookin' like you slept well too?" I scoffed at her enthusiasm.
"Your friend is cool," Loki waved a claw in the air, "he was pretty fun to talk to."
"I'm right here," Bigby called from behind me, causing me to peer at him from my shoulder.
"Morning, my guy," I smirked at him before pacing into the kitchen. From there I saw a very curious Incineroar scavenging a fridge.
"Do they have any milk here?" Xeonix muttered from under his breath and gasped lightly. He pulled out a large carton of milk and slammed it on the counter. "Thank Arceus."
"There could be some people who want that..." Luna muttered from under his breath.
"Do you?" Xeonix raised a brow, glaring deeply at the Umbreon. Upon earning no response, he shrugged and twisted the cap off, quickly chugging down on the milk.
"Mornings are delightful," Prince sarcastically muttered as he stomped into the room.
"Why do ya walk like that?" Vince chugged down on water and criticized the Charizard's quadruped-form of walking.
"Why do you speak like that?" Prince hissed back as he pulled the fridge open. "Have some manners, you pest."
"We all have something different about us," Galant huffed as he paced into the room, both of his arms entirely crossed.
"I don't think anyone asked you, Gallade boy," Xeonix exhaled as he carefully planted the milk against the counter, wiping his face.
"What the fuck is going on here?" Inu frowned, her bright flames now illuminating the room.
"More company. Exactly what I needed," Prince sarcastically rolled his eyes and paced away from the room—this time in a bipedal form.
"What a morning," Bigby huffed and stood next to the Zoroark.
"Everyone seems so hostile," Loki commented and placed a paw against her chin.
"You're not," Bigby smiled at the Zoroark, nudging her shoulder with a paw.
As nice as I found Bigby and Loki's growing relationship, I couldn't help but notice Luna slip out of the crowd and leave into the living room once again. I frowned and slipped out of the crowd, following him.
"You good?" I tilted my head at him.
"No..." Luna huffed and leaped on top of the couch. "I don't want to be here..."
"No one does, my guy," I scratched the back of my head in thought, but found myself sitting down next to him, "how about this, we'll figure out a way to leave, okay?"
"That's going to be very difficult," Luna's eyes gleamed brightly, his gaze tracing around the room, "they're always watching."
The Umbreon's vision seemed to detect something, and I figured it wasn't anything good.
"I get it," I groaned softly in distress, "but we'll figure out something. I promise."
"I sure hope so..."

THIRD PERSON
The once extremely tense air was soon relieved as soon as everyone managed to gather each other in the living room. Seeing no sight of Sam at all, they all thought about ways to leave, and ways to remember their past that their insomnia kept hiding.
"Aren't you going to eat?" Sherwood questioned the Salazzle next to him, munching on what seemed a piece of bacon. Hydra—the cook in the house—seemingly prepared breakfast for everyone in the mansion.
"I'm not hungry..." Nightshade shook her head, adjusting her wings to her side.
"I have many questions about you," Vince pointed a webbed hand at the Salazzle, "why do you have wings?"
"I told you not to question them. I'm a different species of Salazzle," Nightshade frowned at the Greninja's question.
"Is that species severely underweight?" Prince crossed his arms and scoffed at the Salazzle.
"Listen, I didn't get kidnapped here to be fucking judged," Nightshade hissed at the Charizard, "I'm a royal Salazzle, that's all I'm saying."
"What a royal cunt," Vince muttered under his breath.
"You'll be royally dead soon if you don't stop talking..." Hydra frowned at the Greninja.
"Is that a threat?" Vince scoffed and rose to his feet. "Are you going to be the first to murder? Then do it!"
"Everyone needs to shut the fuck up! I swear to Arceus, you all are children!" Inu called at the top of her lungs, the fire on her head erupting into the high ceilings. Silence filled the air, and she took this moment to start talking again, "we're going to find a way out. Sam can't handle all of us."
"Can she, now?" Prince scoffed, "someone feels invincible. You know what happens to the first person to feel that way, correct?"
"You can shut the fuck up!" Inu grimaced to the Charizard and turned away to face the front door. "The front doors are locked, so I'm just going to break through them."
"That would not be the smartest of ideas," Leon called from one side of the room, his body stepping in front of the Infernape, "Sam is most likely watching at all times. She could easily catch you."
"She can catch these hands," Inu shoved the Lucario away, "if everyone is too much of a pussy then I'll do it myself!"
"Wait!" Loki hopelessly called to the already rampaging Infernape. The flames on Inu's body seeped on practically every part of her limps. The air filled with smoke as she shifted and recklessly ran forward. A powerful roar of determination danced off the thick walls, and it wasn't long before Inu reached near the door.
With nothing to stop her, she slammed her flaming shoulder against the fragile wooden door. It's something they should have done sooner, but it's better late than never for them all. However...
The door swung open, the screws against the frame shaking in pure impact. A new source of light filled into the mansion, and upon noticing, it was a beautiful, blinding white.
Multiple Pokemon stood up and dashed over near her with pure hope in their hearts. They were greeted with a sobbing Infernape, kneeled down on the grass below them.
Everyone looked up and saw...
A beautiful sky...behind a thick glass cage. The impossibly high metal walls were wide—practically a mile away from the mansion. However, they were tall enough to block any sight ahead. On top of that, the only light they were given was from the plexiglass in the ceiling.
It seemed like there was no escape.
"W-We can...break that...right?" Sammy hesitated from speaking any further.
"No...no...we can't do anything..." Luna's labored breathing worried them all.
"There has to be a way," Luster frowned, his eyes hopeful—yet his expression terrified.
"There is no way!" A familiar, yet disgust-triggering voice uttered from behind them.
They all turned around to see a devilish Braixen, grinning widely at them all.
"And you'll have to get used to it..."
