Paths Taken
In my life,
So many paths I've trod,
God knows, most of them,
Have taken me nowhere.
Some, strewn with boulders
Upon which,
I've crushed my toes,
Again, God knows,
They were clear enough.
On city streets,
Cavernous cracks
Have thrown back at me,
Memories,
Dark enough
To make me flee.
All guidance I refused,
Confused and arrogant,
Was I.
Love and comfort shunned me,
Nourished as I was
By failure.
Onward I trod,
God knows
Where I thought my destination was.
However, lately,
I have found a path,
On which you've shed a light,
I think that if I follow it,
Carefully,
I might just find my destiny,
At your door.
