Hassam
I sat on the bed awkwardly staring at my shoes. I couldn't imagine what was even going on in that room. They all looked very angry with Pixis. Maybe I was right, maybe I shouldn't have come. I'm intruding. As much as I wanted to get up and leave I knew I couldn't. I'm too much of a coward. Leaving this place would surely be the death of me. I'm not strong, I can't fight, and I know I'm not the most observant. I wouldn't even know if someone was trailing me or not.
When I finally got up the courage to stand up there was a knock at my door. I held my breath for a moment before forcing out a "come in."
"Hey Hassam," Pixis said poking his head in, "Sorry about all that they're quite pissed off at me at the moment."
"I shouldn't be here," I forced myself to say while I still had the courage to do so."
"Nonsense, people are trying to kill you out there," he said and I felt my breath catch. I mean he's right, but I'm overstepping by being here. "If you're worried because they are a little stand-offish, then you don't have to worry for long. They were like this when Nanaba's group came in too, but now if you can't tell we're all as close as family," He said, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder.
I swallowed all my anxious thoughts for a moment and nodded. Maybe he's right. Man, he's really good at this whole protector role. They weren't lying when they said he takes care of everyone here. "Maybe you're right," I took a deep breath and tried to ignore the doubts rising back up.
"I mean once they get to know you they'll accept you in here with open arms," he said with a pat to my back before walking towards the door, "come on I'll introduce you to a few people. Preferably the ones who don't want my head on a stake at the moment," he laughed before motioning for me to follow as he left the room.
We walked out to a big room that was filled with tables and people. "This is the common area, it's just a big space where everyone comes to hang out rather than being cooped up in their rooms."
I took a look around the room and made eye contact with a few people. Most people just looked away or gave awkward waves. This one girl just glared me down. I felt a chill rush over me.
"Maybe we should avoid Rico, she's a little hostile to new people, she still hasn't warmed up to some of us yet either," he reassured me, "not to mention she's pretty pissed off at me right now too."
"Because you went on the suicide mission?" I asked.
"No, because she wasn't invited to come with us," he said and I raised an eyebrow at the odd response. "Sure she's mad we went on the mission in general but she's even madder that she didn't go with us cause her powers would have been able to help us out a lot and she feels like we didn't even give her a chance to help us." He explained realizing I was confused.
"What's her power?" I asked and he just shook his head.
"I'll let her explain when she's ready, she doesn't like people sharing information about her without permission."
"Oh," I gave a quick nod.
We kept walking and I realized we were walking towards someone. It was a shorter older woman with a kind smile as we approached. I almost didn't recognize her with a smile, she was the angry woman from last night. Levi's mom I think?
"Ms. Magnolia," Pixis greeted her with an awkward smile.
"You ready for your lecture?" she asked, her smile turning more menacing for a split second.
He just gave a scared laugh before placing his hand on my back pushing me forward a little, "actually, I wanted to officially introduce you to Hassam," he said and I looked at her and gave her an award smile and a little wave. "I figured the first person he officially meets should be one of the nicest."
"Buttering me up isn't going to save you from the lecture," she said shooting him a quick glare before turning towards me with an outstretched hand.
"Nice to meet you, Hassam, I'm ms. Magnolia, but everyone just calls me mom."
"The pleasure is mine," I said shaking her hand, "Levi and Eren have told me a lot about you."
"All good things I hope," she smiled.
"Yes, very good things," I reassured.
We made some quick small talk before Pixis excused us to meet some more people. I'm sure he just wanted to get out of there before she really did start lecturing him. The silent glares she kept giving him were very telling of how pissed off she actually was.
Before Pixis could even choose another person to introduce me to, someone actually came up to us. "Hiya!" a loud voice said as she put her hand out for me to shake.
"Hello," I said back before recognizing her as the woman who healed Pixis.
"I'm Hanji, it's nice to have a new face around here," she said and before I could say anything back she started talking again. "It's just so boring around here and it's always nice to see new faces, especially friendly new faces. I hear you're trying to help us. I think that's great-." She just kept talking and I tried to follow along, but she was talking so fast that I ended up just staring there trying to latch on to the indistinguishable words that kept coming at me.
"Hanji, breath," Pixis said, snapping me back into focus. "You're rambling and no one can understand you when you get like that."
"Sorry, I just get so excited," she said, clearing her throat before her head snapped to look at something in the distance, "sorry I have to go, it was nice to meet you," she said before running away.
I looked over to where she was heading to see someone motioning for her to come. I just looked at Pixis for some sort of explanation. "Sorry about her, she's great, but sometimes she's just a little too much for anyone," he laughed. "I think she was called to watch a sparring match or heal someone who was in a sparring match either way that's why she ran off so fast."
"Sparring match?" I asked and he pointed at the doorway that she just ran into.
"In there we have some circles on the floor and ceiling where people will spar with each other to practice using their powers. Whoever can get the other person out of the circle first wins," he explained.
I had to stop myself from begging him to watch some of those. That sounded like quite the sight to see. I think he could see the intrigue in my eyes because he just laughed, "we can watch some later especially if Eren and Levi want to demonstrate. Their matches are always interesting. Jean and Marco's too," he smiled.
He walked us over to the next person who didn't seem thrilled to see us, but they weren't glaring us down either. Their expression was kinda hard to read.
"Ymir, Hassam, Hassam, Ymir," he said, introducing us.
"Nice to meet you," I said and reached a hand out to her.
She shook my hand with a nod, "nice to meet you too." She looked off to the side for a moment. When I followed her gaze it led nowhere. The wall maybe?"
"That's not nice," she suddenly said before turning back to me. "You seem like a lovely person," she said before looking back off to the side with a glare. I flicked my eyes to the side looking at Pixis desperately asking for an explanation.
"Who are you talking to now?" Pixis asked as if this was a normal occurrence.
"Reiner," she said and I recognized the name from when they told me about their teammate who had died.
"What's he saying?" Pixis asked.
Ymir went white in the face before letting out a sigh. "I'm doing it again aren't I?" she asked. Pixis just nodded and she shook her head. "Sorry, I just forget you guys can't see him sometimes. I'm not used to him being dead yet," her voice was quiet before she looked back over at him.
"Don't you think I know that dumbass," she rolled her eyes. "Basically he just called me an idiot," she clarified for us this time. "He was saying he doesn't trust him, but you know how Reiner is. He doesn't like anyone unless it's Berthold," she said before glaring back at where Reiner supposedly was.
"I'm going to go introduce Hassam to some other people," Pixis said, excusing us.
"Yeah, that's a good idea," Ymir mumbled before going back to arguing with the dead guy. "Sorry about that," Pixis said, turning his head to look at me as we walked away.
"I'm assuming her power is talking to the dead?" I asked.
"Something like that," he nodded.
He walked me over to two people who were talking to each other. A man and a woman. "Petra, Auruo, this is Hassam," he said, introducing us.
"It's lovely to meet you," Petra said to me.
"Yes, Nanaba and Pixis have filled us in on what's going on and I'm sorry that you had to come under these circumstances," Auruo said.
"Thank you. Yeah, it's been quite the night, but hey it could always be worse," I said, trying to look on the bright side. I mean they could have succeeded last night, but they didn't and because of that, I get to be here with this group of lovely people and make a bunch of new friends. I can help them more now that I can actually get to know them.
"That's one way of looking at it," Petra said with a little nod. We talked for a moment before we excused ourselves.
Pixis looked around at the room. "I think that's good for now, we might have to do more introductions later, the only other people in here are pissed off at me, or Rico. I think I'll have to wait until later to introduce you to some of the others, and if I can't you can feel free to ask Levi or Eren to help. I'm sure they can introduce you to more people than I can at the moment," he explained.
"Fewer people are mad at them?" I asked.
"Yeah, the way I explained things in the meeting I made it seem like the whole plan was my idea rather than Eren's so they didn't take the hit. I'm sure people are still mad at them, but definitely not as mad as they are at me."
"I see."
"They are probably hiding out in their room right now. If you want them to take you around I can go grab them, or you can hang out in my office with me, or go back to your room, or even walk around and explore for yourself," he said offering a few different options.
"They aren't busy right?" I asked, thinking it's best if I get to know more people, but I definitely wasn't brave enough to meet new people without an escort for now. Especially since I might forget not to walk up to Rico and get my head ripped off or something.
"Not that I know of," Pixis said, giving me a shrug and walking me towards their room.
"We aren't going to walk in on them, um, ya know," I asked, remembering what Nanaba said to them before taking them to the room.
"Nah, knowing them if anything they might be taking a nap. Last night exhausted us all, so if anything they might be asleep, but who knows," Pixis shrugged.
"If they're asleep I don't want to wake them."
"If they're asleep we can just leave and try again later," he said and I nodded.
Pixis knocked on the door and we heard someone say "come in," but I didn't recognize the voice. It wasn't Eren or Levi's.
We walked in and saw Eren and Levi laying in bed dead asleep, and next to them were the two boys from last night who were also yelling at them. They were laying in the bed next to them... well more on top of them rather than next to them.
"Jean, Marco?" Pixis asked, looking at them, "I would have thought you two would have been too mad to be in here with them?"
"Yeah, we're still pissed at them, but we missed these sons of bitches," one of the men said.
"Besides, we figured after yesterday they could use all the cuddles they could get," the other one said.
"Alright, well, when they wake up can you tell them to come to my office?" Pixis asked and one of the men let a devious smile slip onto his face.
"You need them awake?" he asked.
"Jean, don't you dare," Pixis shook his head.
"Too late. Hey, I needed to get payback on this son of a bitch somehow," Jean laughed.
He stood up and got off the bed before stepping up on the bed he picked up his legs and landed flat over Eren who let out a wince as his eyes shot open. He sounded like all the wind had been knocked out of him.
"Jean you son of a bitch," he breathed out trying to desperately catch his breath. Levi woke up at the commotion and rubbed at his eyes to see what was happening.
"Hey you're just lucky I didn't roast your ass after the shit you pulled yesterday," Jean said, holding up his hand that was completely engulfed in fire.
"Hothead," Eren spat out.
"Dumbass."
"Horse face,"
"Suicidal bastard."
"Fuck nugget-."
"Could both of you mother fuckers shut the hell up," Levi said in a tone that scared me. The room went dead silent.
"Why the hell did you wake him?" He asked before Pixis stepped forward.
"That's my bad, I made the mistake of telling him that when you woke up I would like to see you in my office, but we all know how petty jean can be," Pixis said, shaking his head.
"Well, we're up now what did you need?" Levi asked, his tone softening now as he woke up a little more.
"I was wondering if it would be possible if you two could take Hassam around and introduce him to some people? I've introduced him to some, but mostly everyone is still pissed off at me."
"Sure, just let us throw on some more comfortable clothes," he said, realizing he was still in jeans from this morning.
"Let me catch my breath," Eren breathed, still looking like he was in absolute agony.
"Oh come on I didn't hit you that hard you baby," Jean rolled his eyes.
"Your knee hit my lung," Eren said back.
"No, it didn't babe stop exaggerating," Levi rolled his eyes.
Eren shot up to glare at him, "hey whose side are you on?"
"Marco's cause he's not acting like a child unlike the two of you."
"Children, all of you," Pixis said before motioning for me to follow him out into the hallway. "We'll be waiting out here," he said with the shake of his head.
