Full Run Down

When I woke up the next morning I knew I was in for a shit storm. Especially with how I was woken up. "Get your ass up," Shadis said, barging into my room throwing something at me. When I opened my eyes I realized it was the Jacket from my costume. I could still smell the dried blood on it as I looked at the bullet holes in the sleeve.

"Good morning to you too," I groaned, forcing myself to sit up in bed.

"Don't give me that bullshit. Not only is there some random dude here now but apparently you went on a suicide mission last night," he raised his voice and I winced at the loud noise so early in the morning.

"I'll explain everything to everyone later. Can you give me some time to get ready and wake up before you blow out my eardrums with your yelling?"

"No, you need to explain right now," he folded his arms waiting for my reasoning. Why I would okay such a mission as well as join the damn thing.

"Okay," I said, rubbing my eyes and trying to focus enough to give him an explanation. No matter what I said he wasn't going to like the answer. Whether I explain it or not he's still going to yell at me.

"I'm waiting." Patience was never his strong suit.

"I'm trying to wake up enough to actually think, 5 seconds please," I mumbled, taking a deep breath. "Well, it was Eren's plan but-."

"Don't try and put this on Eren."

God, he's so annoying sometimes. "If you're going to interrupt me I'm not going to explain shit to you," I glared at him. "Sit your ass down and be quiet for five minutes and just listen." I wasn't in the mood to deal with him interrupting me after every few words. He's going to yell no matter what but he can at least wait until after I'm done explaining.

He just stared at me for a moment before plopping down on the side of my bed and waiting for me to continue. "It was Eren's plan but I wasn't a fan of it. He was determined to go on it no matter what. I knew there was no way of talking him out of it so instead, I thought I should do it alone. They didn't let me. They insisted on being my backup. So we all went on the mission. While on the mission we were ambushed and-."

"I knew it! That guy is a snake he shouldn't-."

"Shut up I'm not done," I snapped at him again. "Jumping to conclusions isn't going to get you anywhere," I mumbled under my breath before clearing my throat and continuing. "We found out the people ambushing us weren't actually after us, but they were after him. We offered him a safe place to say since we both have a lot to lose and we both can help each other."

"How can we help each other? What is he doing to help us?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"He's getting our message out there. We keep him safe and he tells our truths for us since we can't exactly go out there and do it ourselves."

He didn't seem convinced with my answer. He still looked defensive and like he was about to go off on me again so I continued talking to try and stop him from yelling again.

"Look we all have a lot to lose, and we could be stand-offish and defensive, or we can gain mutual trust and make allies. We don't have many allies, especially none that are willing to risk this much so instead of throwing him to the streets and leaving him to die we should work together."

"Who's to say he's actually going to hold up his end of the deal? How do we know he won't turn on us the second he gets the chance?"

"Why would he?" I asked plain and simple, "he has no reason to. He's on the government's hit list too. Not to mention that the only reason I trust him so much is because Levi trusts him."

"What does that have to do with anything?" he asked and I had to take a deep breath before rolling my eyes.

"When a literal mind reader who can read not only minds but emotions says that he just wants to help and has no intentions of double-crossing us then I'm going to listen." Shadis sat back for a moment and I could tell he forgot for a split second what Levi's powers actually were.

"Okay, so we trust him," he said, giving up with that part of his argument, "but how is he supposed to get our messages out there now that he's here with us?"

"We have a plan for that, trust me I've thought this through, now can you please let me get ready so I can wake up before mostly everyone else and get ahead of this before everyone panics?" I asked hoping to cut this conversation short. The last thing I needed was everyone waking up and seeing some random stranger and instantly panicking or assuming the worst.

"Fine, but we aren't done talking about this."

"Yeah I know," I rolled my eyes. Looks like I'll be hearing two lectures later. One from mom and one from Shadis, then again the day just started so who knows who else will also try and lecture us.

I got ready and headed to the meeting room to set up. I had Hassam come with me despite him being dead tired. I apologized for waking him so early but after a quick explanation of why he was more than happy to help out. I needed him to help me explain everything to everyone about last night. As well as introduce him to everyone so they aren't surprised when they see him walking around base.

I got set up before having Nanaba and Erwin bring everyone in. I could see the confused faces as they looked at Hassam. They were all a little on edge seeing an unfamiliar face at the front of this room. After a few minutes of everyone making their way into the room, Eren and Levi had joined us at the front. Nanaba also took a seat closer to the front in case she needed to explain anything, but I would rather not throw her under the bus unless I absolutely have to.

After everyone took their seats I started explaining. I introduced Hassam first but not why he was here. He got a few awkward waves, but mostly the room was still silent as they tried to figure out what to make of the stranger.

I took a deep breath and told everyone to hold any comments or questions until the end. No one wanted this to take all day as people interrupted so I stopped it before it could even start. When I saw everyone nodding along in agreement I decided to start explaining what happened.

After a long explanation and a lot of new glares and confused faces, I decided that we had filled everyone in. I was afraid to take any questions because I knew the outcome. I didn't want the shit storm to rain down on anyone but me so instead of letting the others witness it I had them leave.

"Nanaba, could you take Eren, Levi, and Hassam back to their rooms. I'll be staying back to answer any questions," I said letting everyone know that they could go wild after those four had left the room.

The second they were all led out of the room everyone's arms shot up. I knew these wouldn't be questions as much as mini-lectures, and maybe a few "why would you do this?" kinda questions. They were more statements than questions though. They didn't want actual answers, they just wanted to make sure that I knew they were pissed.

"Are any of them actual questions, I'll take those first, you can yell after but those with genuine questions please let them go first," I said looking around. I saw over half the hands hesitantly lower.

"Okay," I said before pointing and starting what was going to be a long day.

"Wow, he took the hit for us," I let out a sigh of relief, "Remind me to kiss him later as a thank you," I joked, nudging Levi.

"Gross," he rolled his eyes at me. "If you do, don't you dare try and kiss me after that."

"Relax, I was kidding."

"I know, but just the thought of that makes my skin crawl. He's old enough to be our dad."

"He acts like our dad," I corrected.

"Exactly," Levi shivered letting me know just how disturbing he thought my joke was.

"Fine, remind me to give him a hug is that better?" I asked correcting myself.

"Much."

"Besides, you know the only one I ever want to kiss is you."

"You two are annoying," Nanaba mumbled with a teasing smile. "You can't wait just another minute until you get in your own room before being all flirty?"

"Hey, we both thought we were going to die yesterday so pardon us if we are a little more flirty today," I sassed back with a laugh.

"Fair point, just use protection," she rolled her eyes.

"Jumping to conclusions, we won't be doing that," I said waving my arms in front of me frantically as my cheeks heated up.

It didn't take a mind reader to decipher the look Levi gave me. He had looked at me out of the corner of his eyes with a raised eyebrow and a slight smirk. His thoughts screaming, you sure about that?

I just elbowed him lightly for being too obvious about it. I mean we were both thinking about it, but now I wouldn't be able to do it without feeling judged.

Nanaba just looked between the two of us with an unconvinced look as she raised her eyebrow. "Sure," she mumbled before we made it to our room.

"So you two are dating?" Hassam asked before we walked into our room.

"Yup," I said rubbing the back of my neck. Honestly, I forgot he was here... I forgot both of them were here until Nanaba spoke up.

He paused for a moment and I couldn't tell what he was thinking. Was he going to call us gross? Was he just processing our answer? "You two make a cute couple," he smiled, patting us each on the shoulder with a genuine smile. Nanaba led him back to his room and I looked at Levi a little confused. Levi was smiling, laughing almost, but I was just wondering why it took him so long to say something.

"He wasn't thinking anything bad," Levi explained, "he was thinking back to all of our interactions he saw and it was like a lightbulb flipped in his head as everything made sense."

"Oh, I see. That makes more sense," I nodded. We plopped down on the bed and Levi gave me that look again.

"Nope, I'm going back to bed are you kidding I'm fucking exhausted. They woke our asses up for that and you know the second he releases everyone we will have a shit storm to deal with. I would rather not be conscious for that. Let alone have people walk in on us while we are having fun," I said burying my head in the pillow.

"I know." He laughed, I knew since we started heading back to the room, but it was funny watching you get all flustered," he said before crawling into bed next to me and pulling me close.

I didn't even have enough energy to change back into comfortable clothes. Oh well, I'm too tired to care. I just let my eyes close before wrapping my arms around Levi.
