Eld

After talking with Berthold for a few hours I went back to our room and saw Eren laying in bed. It was getting late and I could tell he was having trouble staying awake but he wanted to wait up for me. He was half asleep, his eyes barely open and he didn't even realize I had come in.

I felt absolutely drained after talking with Berthold for hours. Feeling his raw emotions and just listening to all of his stories of them. I had to hold back my own emotions for a while. Seeing Eren laying in bed I felt so relieved that I could just climb back in bed with him and hold him close, but it came with a pang of guilt as I realized that Berthold will never be able to hold Reiner like this again. That every night he has to return to an empty bed and somber room.

"Hey baby," I finally whispered trying to keep my voice low trying not to wake him up all the way.

"Hey," he mumbled out, turning his head slightly to face me.

I just crawled into bed scooting in close to him and wrapping my arms around his waist and pulling him into me. I put my head on his shoulder before whispering in his ear. "I love you so much, baby."

"I love you too," He said back, his words fading out as he fought off sleep. He was losing, but he still pried his eyes open again. "Are you okay? How did it go?"

"I'm fine, it went fine," I said simply not wanting to get into all of it, "I just want to go to sleep."

He nodded in agreement, "goodn-," before he could even finish the word he was out. Aww, poor baby. He was so tired. I mean he did ref a lot of matches and even sparred a little. Not to mention using his big brain all day to come up with plans. He deserves a break. He's been stressing himself out trying to keep everyone else out of their emotions. He cares so much and is hurting. I know I'm the empath here, but he is so empathetic sometimes that it shocks even me.

I just nuzzled my face into his neck rubbing my hands up against his arms feeling his chest rise and fall under my fingers. "Goodnight Eren," I said quietly, placing a kiss on his cheek before cloning my eyes and letting myself fall asleep. My arms wrapped firmly around him. I wasn't letting go no matter what. I needed him in my arms. I needed to cherish these moments just in case, god forbid, something happens and this time we spent together is our last. I want to make it mean something. I want him to know I love him.

When I woke up I felt like crap. My whole body hurt and it felt like my muscles were screaming at me specifically my wrists. I knew I overdid it, but not to this extent. Levi was right. I should have put my braces on sooner for the sparring matches. I went to sit up and that's when I realized the arms around me. Levi was still peacefully sleeping.

Damn it if I try and get up it will probably wake him up. There's no way I can slide out of his arms. Do I just lay here and make us both late for practice or do I wake him up? I knew what I had to do but I knew he needed the sleep. Besides, he's so cute. I mean I can a little bit of air hit the back of my neck every time he breathes. His arms still wrapped firmly around me. How did I ever get this lucky?

I just wish I can roll over and get a look at his sleeping face. It's always so cute. His messy hair, his relaxed face. His lips slightly apart. His eyes slightly twitching every now and again as his dreams go wild.

I felt his arms pull me tighter and his breathing change. His raspy morning voice whispering in my ear, "how many times have I told you thinking about me is creepy," he tried to joke letting out a tired yawn.

"I can't help it, you're just so damn cute," I said rolling over in his arms to face him, placing a kiss on his cheek. "Sorry if I woke you."

"You didn't wake me, your creepy thoughts did, and I'm not cute, your cute," he said, giving me a small good morning kiss. "Time to get up?" he asked, letting another yawn out as he tried to wake up more blinking a few times.

"Sadly," I sighed, "though I'd rather spend all day here in your arms."

"Well there's always tonight," he smiled.

"Promise?"

"Promise."

He hesitated for a moment before finally letting me go so we could both get up and get ready for the day. We went and gathered everyone making sure everyone was there so we could start practice. This would probably take all day and then some to get the hang of.

Not only did we have to try and come up with all the different problems and make plans for all of them, but we also had to test Molbits power and its range, as well as how to get everyone to be able to discreetly and quickly change appearances. That last one was being taught by Nanaba who of course is a master at it. Even without her shapeshifting, she knows how to hide herself in public without ever having to use her ability.

Getting everyone here was the easy part. Now that everyone was here... well physically, I'm pretty sure half of them were still asleep standing up, we had to actually start training and planning. My loose plans weren't going to work fully, we needed them to help brainstorm through the aspects I might not have thought of or couldn't figure out.

I knew we might not even use all the people here since we grabbed everyone who I listed off just in case we decided we needed to use one of the other plans I spouted out. I knew that it was best to have a smaller team for this mission so having 12 people here wasn't exactly small.

We were going to start with Eld and figure out just how far his power could reach and any limitations we might not be aware of. I wanted to see if his power worked through stuff like cameras or even windows. All we know is he has to have the person in his sight but how far does that limit reach? Does he have to be within a certain distance? Can there be things in his way even if they are transparent? Does it have to be the person or just their image?

I had so many ideas. I was sure it probably wouldn't work through a camera. Even if said camera is live, but it was worth giving it a shot.

Everyone else took a seat on the floor as he stepped up. I was standing in front of him and Pixis next to me. "Alright, I want you to try and use your power on me normally to start," I said.

"Does this work?" were the next words out of my mouth even though I wasn't the ones saying them.

"Perfect," Pixis smiled.

"Alright next," I said, pulling out the disposable camera. "I want you to go behind a wall and only be able to see me through the camera and try and use your power on me.

He grabbed the camera and rounded the corner. There was a moment of silence before he came back out shaking his head. Yeah, I figured as much. Okay, so that idea is out. "Let's try it through a window," I said before looking around the room. Oh. There are no windows in here.

"We might have to head up the stairs for this one," Pixis said noticing the same thing.

"Yeah," I laughed awkwardly and the three of us headed back up the stairs leaving everyone else down there waiting for us.

We went up the stairs and found a window. It leads outside. I gave Pixis a look and he gave me a slight nod before double-checking that the coast was clear for me to head outside. The window was boarded up but there were a few cracks between the boards where he could easily see me through. When it was safe I headed outside and waited pretending to tie my shoe. After I finished tying my shoe and still nothing had happened I decided to head back inside.

Sure enough coming back in he shook his head again. Damn, I was sure that one would work. I guess his line of sight has to be uninterrupted meaning we definitely have to sneak in. Well, this just got a little harder, but then again I figured we might have to do this which is why I spent a while coming up with that plan.

We headed back downstairs and told the others that it didn't work. The last thing to check is how far this works up to. We started at a normal distance. "Testing," came out of my mouth. I backed up a few feet. I nodded. "Testing," okay I backed up a few more feet. This happened a few times before finally, I backed up and nothing happened.

I walked back and Pixis looked at me realizing something. "He has to be able to see the person's face. The last time you guys tried it from where I was standing your face was starting to be blurry and unreadable because you were too far away.

So he has to be able to make out a person's face. That's good to know, but also means he has to be semi-close to the person. I'd say within a range from 45 to maybe 50 feet at most and that's pushing it. Meaning we would have to get Eld closer to the person and also have no one block his vision. If someone walks in front of him while he's using his powers it could cause him to lose control over the person's words.

"I want to try something still," I said. I know I've seen Eld use his powers while people had their back to him.

I had Eld do the same thing again but this time I was facing the opposite way. Just as I thought it worked, I took a few steps forward, and again it worked. We did this a few times, but it stopped working around 25 maybe 30 feet away from him. So it's a shorter distance if the person is facing the opposite way.

Lastly, I had Eld do the same exercise again with Pixis walking in front of his line of sight, and just as I thought every time Pixis walked in front of him I paused or was able to control what I was saying in those brief moments.

Damn so not only does he have to be close but we definitely have to make sure no one blocks his path. I saw Christa raise her hand to get our attention so she wouldn't talk over us.

"So um, after we are done with this how do you expect the person not to talk? I mean Eld will lose control of him eventually, and then what? He will tell everyone how he was controlled and how we are evil again," she said and everyone froze.

Oh shit, I didn't think of that.
