Chapter 5~Boat Blues
Lia Dove~Monday 3:56 A.M
According to what I was told, we have to take a boat to the Boarding School. At first I hoped that wasn't true, (although you couldn't really tell what I was feeling) but, here I am, at 3:56 in the morning, on a dock, waiting for the steamboat. What a way to begin your morning.
I sighed, looking at all the orphans on the dock, along with a few people I didn't know. This was gonna be a hectic boat ride. I saw Mrs. Jones, looking at her phone. I tapped her shoulder. "Mrs. Jones?" I asked. "Yes, dear?" She answered. "How long is the boat ride?" I asked. "I don't know." She answered.
Gee, thanks Captain Obvious. I rolled my eyes, trying hard not to show emotion. You'd think I'd be good at not showing any emotion by now. But it's still hard, trying not to slip up. Another real reason of this is because I can't control the wolf. Sooo, naturally, it would be hard to NOT turn into a wolf after showing any strong emotion. I ignored the thoughts.
Welp, I finally found out how long the stupid ride is. 5 hours. Just great. Why couldn't life just take a chill pill with the time? I groaned once figuring it out. Look, I'm a normal orphan, who's a wolf hybrid and can't show any emotion and if does then will be executed. See? I'm a completely sane, orphan girl.
Mimi Mushroom~4:00 A.M
So, the boat had come at exactly 4:00. Not gonna lie, it looked kind of rusty, like a 100 years old. So I was obviously kind of nervous about going on the damn thing. I saw a figure approach me.
"Hi!" She said. "Hello. What's your name?" I asked. She smiled brightly. I smiled back. Maybe now I'll have real friends who aren't using me for my money. I thought to myself.
"I'm Kodi!" The girl, who was known as Kodi, said. "I'm Millie. Or, Mimi for short." I said. "Nice to meet you Mimi!" I noticed a white bandage on her left eye. "Hey, what happened to your eye?" I asked. She looked uncomfortable. "Oh, that. . ." She trailed off. "Something happened." She said. "How about your burn on your arm?" She asked. "Oh. . .things." I answered. She laughed. I laughed back. I think I've just made a new friend.
----------4:30 A.M
I sat on the edge of the boat. Kodi had gone to the bathroom. And, a boat like this I was genuinely shocked that it even had a bathroom. I sighed.
The boat was pretty interesting. There were tons of kids waiting to go to this boarding school. Cool. Everyone was wearing a gray and velvety uniform. It looked ugly in my opinion. But hey, why not trap me in a fire? Wouldn't be the first time it's happened anyways.
I saw one girl with blonde hair, streaking into teal. Her facial expression was kind of basic. I went to check it out. "Hey." I said, casually. She stared at me, still wearing the same expression. I laughed a shrill laugh. "Hello. I'm Lia. What's your name?" She asked. "I'm Mimi. You look, nice." I said. She looked like she was about to smile, yet she didn't. It was probably just my imagination. "Thank you." She said. Then she turned around, and went back to muttering something. I turned around. "What a weirdo." I mumbled under my breath.
Cyrah Ember~5:15 A.M
The sun was starting to rise. Finally. This boat ride had been hectic. I wheezed due to exhaustion. From what I could tell, a lot of people had friends to talk to. Which was about the opposite of what I had. I saw another girl, with blonde hair, teal streaks at the end. I walked over to her. She had a blank expression on her face. Well, the best way to make a friend, is to act like them. I walked over to her, and she seemed to be talking to something. But as soon as she caught a glimpse of me, she stopped and looked at me.
"Hey." I said, in a dark, gloomy voice. Hey! Don't blame me! If it's how she talks, then it ain't a big deal. "Hey. I'm Lia." She said. "I'm Cyrah." I said. "Are you okay?" I asked. "Well,"
We ended up talking for a while. She was on the brink of smiling so many times. But she didn't. "Why can't you smile?" I asked. "Well," She started. Then we heard a, SPUTTER, KOO-PLUNK, BANG! The boat shook. And half the pre-students fell down. I ran down the stairs to the cabin of the boat. "What happened?" I asked the driver of the boat. "Looks like the engine failed on us." He answered. It'll take a few hours before we can get out of here." He said. Great. I get seasick so much already. I didn't need a few more hours on it.
I went back upstairs from the boat. And Lia wasn't there. Then, all of the sudden. The boat started moving. Fast. I fell down. Someone helped me up. "Are you okay? I'm Kodi." The figure said. "Hi. I'm Cyrah. Or Ember." I said. "Nice to meet you Ember." This girl, who was known as Kodi, said. Then the boat came to a screeching halt. I fell on top of Kodi. She laughed, and I laughed too. Then I noticed Lia had come back on board. "Lia! Meet my friend!" I yelled. "What?" She asked. "Come on!" I went up to her and dragged her by the arm to Kodi. "This is Lia." I introduced her. "Hi Lia." Kodi said. Lia mumbled something under her breath. "What is it?" I asked. "Call me Dove." She said. "Oh. Okay." I said. Dove walked away. "Our mission is to get her to smile." I said to Kodi. "Yes." Kodi replied.
