Chapter 3: What?!?

Hiccup

I had no words to describe what I've felt. Stoick needs help?

Astrid said, "Hayden, plea-"

"Don't call me Hayden! You didn't care what happened to me since I was little, and you didn't care about me since!" I snapped.

She looked away from me, "Actually... that wasn't true, Hiccup."

I looked at her, confused.

"The truth was I did care, but I didn't know how to express how I felt about you. I.. actually had a crush on you." She admitted.

I was startled by the revelation, but she looked shaken.

"What happened to Berk that you really need me?" I asked.

"It hasn't been the same since you were gone, Hiccup. We were attacked."

"What?!? But-" I said with utter shock, but she continued.

"A man, a Dragon Hunter named Viggo forced us to live under his rule. Most of the villagers... including the teens were totured, beaten and we couldn't eat."

I said, "Why you didn't come to me sooner?"

"I'm..." She was about to pass out and I quickly grabbed her instantly.

"Astrid!" I said.

I knew that I had to do something... if it meant of going back to Berk.

Ingrid

As I was in the arena waiting for the girl's condition, Hiccup came out of his hut.

I run towards the boy with a curious state. "So, did she tell you anything?"

He nods, "I'm afraid that her tribe is in serious trouble, Ingrid."

We went to the Great Hall where my Dad was in a middle of a meeting.

"Father!" I said, barging in. "Ingrid! How many times did I told you not to barge into a Chieftain meeting without-"

"Berk is in trouble." Hiccup spoke up. My father and the other Chieftains were in shock.

"Berk? I haven't heard Stoick in a year." My father said. The other Chieftains left the room so we can have a talk. I never heard of Berk before.

"Father, what is Berk? Is it an isle?" I asked, curiously.

Father nods, "Yes, it is, Ingrid. It is home of the Berkian Tribe, led by one of the greatest Chieftain ever known. Stoick the Vast."

I asked, "How come I never heard of it?"

Hiccup said, "It's because you never experienced living in the tribe other than here."

I looked at the boy with a confused look on my face.

"How you know? It's not like you were once the Heir of Berk or something like that?"

He said, "I knew this day would come eventually, but I think it's time to tell you guys the truth."

We looked at him with a curious look.

As we were about to ask, the same girl came to us and Hiccup asked, "Astrid, what you doing out of the hut? You must be totally exhausted from travelling all the way from Berk."

"Hayden, you can't hide from it. You're still Stoick's son, and the Heir of Berk! This is your chance to return back home and make things right! I know he's not the best father, but you and I know that you can't change the past-Oh."  Astrid said, noticing us with shock expression on our faces.

Hiccup

Way to go, Astrid. I was planning to explain my true self, but it already came out.

Ingrid and Tames were in still in shock, as if the truth was in totally disbelief.

Tames asks, "Hiccup. Was it really true you're Stoick's heir?"

"The correct term would be was, and yes, Stoick is my father and I'm the Heir of Berk." I said, confirming my true identity, "Although, I was going to reveal if Astrid didn't blew it for me."

She said, "Sorry! I didn't suspect that you were going to tell them!"

I rolled my eyes at the nervous Viking as Ingrid said, "All right, Hayden, you better start at the beginning."

"Well, Berk is not like Dragon Paradise. It is mostly like killed or be killed. This is Astrid Hofferson, one of the Berkian Vikings. She used to tease me as long I can remember. But now I learn that she loves me." I said.

Ingrid said, "A Dragon killing place? That's horrible!"

"Well, one night, it seems like a regular Dragon Raid. I used one of my inventions to um, shoot a dragon down. And you already knew that Dragon."

Toothless barges into me, tackling me into the ground and licks me nonstop.

"Toothless! Come on! You know that never washes out!" I said, laughing as Astrid looks at me.

"So... on that day in the Ring, Toothless did protect you." Astrid said in awe.

"Yeah, about that. Sorry about keeping Toothless as a secret from Berk." I rubbed my head.

"I see how he means to you, and there is no point of staying mad at you."

Tames asked, "So, what you mean? Toothless and other Dragons were forbidden?"

I nodded, "Yeah. No one has to make contact or trained a Dragon. Toothless and I bonded and became friends. When Stoick saw Toothless, things didn't go so well."

Astrid said, "I remembered that Stoick pulled you into the Great Hall. What did he exactly do to you, Hayden?"

"He..." I began to say as the flashback of the day he banished me.

"You're not a son of mine."  He said.

"He told me I wasn't his son and he exiled me. He banished me out of the tribe. He made me leave Berk!"

"He banished and exiled his own son, just because he made friends with a Dragon?!?  Oh... that makes me so mad!!!!!" Ingrid said, not controlling her emotions.

I said, "I felt like you are right now. But Berk was my home, and I intend to do the right thing. Astrid, lead the way back to Berk."

Astrid warns, "I warn you now, Hiccup. It is not like the Berk you once knew."

We flew as I raise my hood up and we watched in a nearby edge of Berk.

What I saw, Astrid was right. Berk is in serious trouble.
