Chapter 7

Some minor swearing in this chapter but nothing crazy.

Robin held the blade against Mr. Draco’s neck. His order was in his head but the boy knew he shouldn’t go through with it. He looked up at the man in owl themed armor and held the blade from both ends. “We found enough evidence to put him away for the rest of his life.” He explained his actions.

Talon was not fond of Robin’s choice. “Finish him.”

Robin got off the drug lord after digging his knees into his chest one more time. “He’s already finished.” Talon did not speak and walked away.

The man on the floor coughed, “Hey,” blood ran down from his mouth and nose, “Ain’t you the Batman’s brat?” Robin growled and stomped on his face lightly, not enough to cause any permanent damage, but enough to shut him up.

“Not anymore,” the boy answered. He began to walk away until he turned around to quickly throw the knife at the man hung from the ceiling. The knife cut the rope and the man fell hard onto the table and then the floor.

From a distance Batman and Sparrow ran across buildings. Jumping when needed and occasionally using grappling hooks. Sparrow, having no idea where they were going ran a few feet behind the man so he could lead the way. They were on a taller structure, most likely a five story building, when Batman stopped. He looked at something from his utility belt and turned to the girl.

“Don’t go after Talon and don’t engage Robin. If he fights, let me take care of it. You are backup, understood?”

Sparrow was slightly surprised at Batman’s sudden mood change but she understood his reasoning. On the next two buildings over was his son talking to a murderer. And he most likely promised Oliver and Felicity she would be turned over to their care in one piece. Sparrow nodded and leaped onto a different building not too far away from the one Batman jumped onto.

From a distance she saw Talon jump off the building and disappear. Batman began to run towards the criminal when Robin stood in front of him with his arms out. Batman must be explaining Talon’s true intentions with Robin and the boy did not seem pleased. When the man stepped away to continue Robin stuck a batarang to stop him.

Sparrow’s eyes widened.

Oh shit.

Batman attempted to swing away but Robin cut him down. The two began to fight and it was not pretty. To make up for his size, Robin was fast. He kicked and punched when given the option and flipped to avoid hits. Batman was also very skilled and was not hesitant in giving his son a beat down. Most of Batman’s attacks were throwing the sidekick a good distance. Sparrow cringed at the fight. It must have been awful for both of them. She was going to sit this one out until she noticed Batman was now losing. Karma struck instantly as he was thrown across the roof. Deciding now was a good time for backup, Sparrow grappled herself onto the building to confront Robin. Knowing trying to reason was not an option anymore, the teen decided her entrance should be a good one so as she swung closer to the building, she extended her legs and kicked Robin away from Batman’s fallen form.

“Robin what the hell are you doing?” Robin growled in response and charged.

Sparrow grabbed and extended her metal staff from its holder and use it to her advantage. Robin was without his sword which really helped her out. Swinging her weapon she struck Robin in his sides when he failed to move out of the way. Her staff was tossed aside so she grabbed an arrow from the quiver on her back and sliced Robin’s right shoulder. Robin mainly aimed for her torso but knocked her down onto her back. She groaned as she smacked onto the roof, her staff was too far away from her for her to get a hold of it. Robin stood above her and winded back his fist.

Sparrow furrowed her brows. This boy was going to give her frown lines if he kept this up. She reached up and grabbed his collar and brought him down knocking him off balance. She quickly tucked her legs and kicked him over her head and onto the floor. He moaned as he came in contact. Sparrow did a back handspring from the ground and kicked her partner once more. She then started to run towards her weapon when a hand grabbed her ankle and pulled, once again bringing her to the ground.

“That’s petty,” she groaned as she kicked back until she was free. Running to her staff she knew it was time for the big guns. Or rather arrows. Quickly turning it into her bow she spun around to see no one on the roof. Batman and Robin were gone.

What the hell?

Jogging to the edge of the roof Sparrow peered over and saw both of the missing persons crash into the grass. She hissed in sympathy but saw they were alive. Robin had a spiked branch and was going to strike Batman. Instinctively, Sparrow grabbed an arrow and readied it. It was aimed for Robin’s right shoulder. Right where the previous arrow struck him.

Please don’t do it Damian.

He didn’t. Instead of his father’s face, Robin stabbed the ground next to his head. Sparrow let go of a breath she wasn’t aware she was holding and watched as Robin walked away. Her face fell. He wasn’t coming back. She held a bitter expression until she realized where he would be going. She pressed her earpiece and connected with Batman.

“I’m going after him. You shouldn’t follow me, it’ll only piss him off more. I’ll return soon but don’t wait up.”

Sparrow turned off her earpiece not wanting to hear her boss’ protest.

Sparrow unlocked the large skylight. It was dark and there was no sign of Damian or Talon so she assumed it was safe. Jumping down and landing silently Sparrow waited. She noticed a note pinned to a suit of armor using a sai. It was still up so Robin must have not been here yet. He preferred to hold the object he read.

Glad you made the right choice. Be back soon. Wait for me.

She would have to be quick if she wanted to leave without formally meeting Damian’s new friend. Getting a feeling Sparrow knew Robin was close. The shortcut she took was only faster by a few minutes. She hid in the shadows as she was taught and waited. Fortunately she didn’t wait long. Robin opened the skylight and jumped down. He glanced at the room not noticing her. He moved to the note and took it from the sai’s hold. He let go and let it float to the floor.

Damian must have known she was there because of the sai that was flung next to her head, now embedded into the wall. Y/n jumped slightly away from it and moved out of the shadows. “What the hell was that for?”

“What are you doing here?” Robin wasted no time.

Sparrow sighed and pulled down her hood. Not trusting the room she kept her mask on. The girl held her hands up to show she was not here to fight. “I didn’t come here to fight again I just wanted to talk.”

“About?” he kept his distance.

Y/n sighed and lowered her gloved hands. “What is going on Robin?”

“None of your concern.”

The h/c girl scoffed. “If it wasn’t my business before then it is now.” She looked at him. Even though both were still in masks she could tell she was getting nothing out of him. “Fine,” she noticed his shoulder was bleeding from the arrow. “Then at least let me fix that,” she nodded to the deep cut. Damian’s jaw was clenched but he agreed by taking off his cloak. Y/n got two boxes that would work as stools for the time being. She sat down and Damian sat in the one in front of her, she faced his right side. Reaching down inside her boot, Y/n got the small emergency kit she carried ever since they moved to Gotham.

Damian had taken off the top of his suit. His bare upper body was exposed, it made sense because wearing clothes underneath the suits made it bunchy and hot. Even though it would help with the rubbing sometimes, it was a hassle.

“I don’t have any anesthetic.”

“It’s fine,” Robin mumbled.

Y/n began to clean the injury with a small eyedropper she had of the liquid Alfred used when any of them got cut. Now that it was cleaned, she had to stitch the wound. Damian made a pained face but tried to hide it. The cut was long and deep. Y/n didn’t mean to get him that hard. It must have stung like a bitch. Sparrow kept stitching, making sure it was tight and no infection would grow.

“I didn’t tell Batman,” Y/n spoke. “About this place. I made sure he didn’t follow me either.” Damian was still silent. “Are our identities safe right now? Here?” He nodded so there must not be any cameras or audio recorder. He must have checked the first night he left. “Have you killed anyone?” He shook his head. A nameless weight was lifted from Y/n’s shoulders. She kept stitching and was halfway through when she knew it would be the best time to ask him. He was stuck here, “Did you mean it?” She whispered. “When you said you liked me better before?” She could feel him tense.

“I shouldn’t have said that.”

Sparrow huffed, “It was a dick thing to say. I know it’s been weird, getting used to me being well, me now.” Bruce’s words stuck with her. “Batman told me you’re still getting the hang of emotions,” Damian seemed annoyed by the mention of his father. “I want you to know I’m still getting used to it too.” Y/n had finished the stitch and relaxed her shoulders, both of them sitting in silence.

“You’re much better now,” the emerald hidden eyed boy spoke. “Before you were annoying.”

“You’re one to talk,” Y/n half laughed. “You’re better now too. Much less kiss assy.”

Robin was taken back. “I was not a kiss ass.”

Y/n laughed and smiled. “You were. But only to your grandfather. And an overachiever. But hey,” she shrugged her shoulders playfully. “We all can’t be genetically engineered.” Damian hinted a small smile at her joke. “I can’t convince you to come back, can I?” Damian shook his head. "I should go. I said I would be quick." Y/n stood up and waited as Damian zipped up his suit but left his cloak folded beside the box.

Before jumping out the window Y/n did what she hadn't don't in over a year. She pulled Damian into a hug. This time the action didn't have a twist to it or an evil plot. Just a hug. She pressed her face into the crook of his neck and since she was a little taller than him and had to hunch a tiny bit.

Damian froze. He didn't know what to do. Last time this did not work out so well. Y/n didn't care he was stiff she still had her arms wrapped around his neck. "Please don't die Damian," she whispered. "I don't know what I'd do if you died."

Robin remembered what she had said about emotions so he did what he thought was best and returned the hug.

I know how to handle emotions. What else did Father say? I am more than capable of expressing my thoughts and emotions.

As Y/n began to let go when Damian did something the two had also done, a little over a year ago. The raven haired boy leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. Realizing what he was doing he really froze until she pressed into the kiss. This kiss was certainly better than the last one. Before it was just a distraction now it was. Something different.

The two separated. Y/n's mask covered her wide eyes but not the blush creeping on her face. The moonlight shone through the skylight illuminating the parts of her face that was not covered. The moon also seems to make his hair look extremely shiny and soft. Damian's green mask concealed his flustered face which he was too stunned to be thankful for.

"I should go, yeah, go. I don't wanna run into Talon because he's," Y/n pressed her lips together. Damian was still replayed what happened. "A bad guy. I'm leaving now." Sparrow turned and quickly jumped up and out the skylight.

Damian exhaled through his mouth and sat back down on the box. He was tired and sore. Tonight was a wreck. A long, angry, extreme, amazing, confusing night. Damian let his head fall into his hands as he waited for Talon.

Hehehe I made them kiss
