Sohan kneels before his mother's grave and places the wreath of flower on it. His eyes start to brim with tears as he pulls out the piece of paper from the pocket of his shirt-the torn page from her mother's diary. He touches the letters that are slightly blotched, and he feels a part of his mother left in them. He clutches the page to his heart and whispers "Ma!"

The warm, salty droplets roll down his cheek, and an emptiness fills his heart as it longs for his mother. Never before his eyes have cherished to see her face so much in these three years. Today, he has made a promise to say the words he could never say to his mother. Today he will bring the words to his lips no matter how hard it becomes for him.

So he wipes the tear off his face, and with a firmness in his voice, says, "I'm sorry ma. I'm sorry for everything. I know I should have been a better son. I should have treated you better. Now that I have lost you, I feel what you were to me. Please forgive your son, won't you?"

But he does not get a reply. His mother's grave simply stares back at him.

Sohan sighs. He feels despondent because of what he could not do for her. But he is contented too, because wherever his mother is now, she is freed. She would not have to endure those small moments of melancholy that so brutally pushed her to her bereavement, and she will always rest in peace. But deep inside he feels that some relationships are no less than assets to our life, and those need to be recognized before we misjudge them and push them into the dark abyss of severance, from where it can never return, and sequentially put us into a misery that is bound to haunt us for eternity.
