Chapter 14 ~ Conversation Part 2

Third Person Perspective

(Y/n) had woken up a little while ago. She had went down to see what was going on, but had just found them arguing. So she just went back to her room and played the piano. She didn't like it when people argued, it reminded her of home...

No. Not home. This is home now. She furrowed her brows in mental frustration. She was so caught up in playing and denying her previous shelter was home, that she didn't see Trender and Splendor enter. She sighed and closed her eyes and continued to play, just wanting to drown in the music.

"(Y/n)." Splendor's voice ripped through the keys of the piano and the sounds awkwardly came to a halt. (Y/n) took a moment to respond. He sounded mad. Or at least upset. She looked at him and his brother, her voice shaking when she answered.

"Y-yes...?" Splendor would've softened and tried to comfort her, but he was upset with her and he didn't want to make it seem "ok" for her to just leave without letting him know.

"Why'd you sneak out?" Splendor asked her, a smidge of betrayal in his voice. The girl frowned and curled in her piano seat. She shrugged and avoided eye contact, like a guilty child. "(Y/n)." He repeated more sternly.

"I came back..." she mumbled and nuzzled her knees, her face now not even facing him.

"And what if you didn't?" He said, (Y/n) paused. That made her feel worse.

"... I just wanted to be alone for a minute ..."

"Why?" He asked, thinking of the events of that day, not pinpointing a reason why she'd leave.

"Why don't you trust me?" She retorted.

"This isn't about me, this is about you and your safety!" Splendor's voice raised and (Y/n) visibly tensed.

"... y-you didn't trust me to work things out on my own... no you didn't stop me when I went to my brother, b-but you also didn't want me to see him, when you knew I wanted to. You didn't trust that since I was up that I was ok... even after I told you I was..." She paused for a minute before continuing. "I just wanted to clear my head and get some fresh air while in my own company..."

Splendor went silent. He didn't mean for it to seem like that, he wanted to apologize, but at the same time he didn't want to. He wanted her to first.

"I-I didn't think it'd be a problem... I-I'm almost 16, I can make my own decisions... you're not my parent. B-but I'm sorry I didn't tell you and made you worry..." She finally apologized.

Splendor paused. She was right, he wasn't her parent, though he was, in a way, her guardian. Now it was his turn to apologize.

"I'm sorry I made you feel that way..." He went over to her. He went to hug her when she flinched. He quickly moved away. "I'm not going to hit you..."

The girl nodded and she wiped her eye, probably about to cry. He went to hug her again, this time it was welcomed. She hugged him back and nuzzles his shoulder. Tensing and squeaking when he suddenly picked her up.

He took her over to the bad where he sat with her on his lap and she leaned into him, though she was now facing Trender.

"Hi Trender." (Y/n) said calmly. He nodded to her, forgetting what he wanted to talk to her about, then remembering.

"Would you like to go to the mall with me tomorrow?" Trender asked. (Y/n) paused. She looked at Splendor, but he had his face nuzzled in her shoulder.

"Uh... y-yeah." She gave him a smile. "But uh... why?"

"I want to get your measurements done and such. And even though you have some nice clothes, some of them just don't seem like they're you." He explained, (Y/n) blinked, taking in his speedy paced sentences.

"Y-you don't need to spoil me...!" She blushed, embarrassed of the whole thing.

"I do it to everyone and if there's one person I can save with actual style, it's probably you. The others are hopeless." He continued to explain himself.

(Y/n) smiled and talked about what he had in mind. She wasn't bothered since he was letting her have a say. Something she wasn't quite used to, but taking advantage of, now that she could.

Today was a little bad and a little better.
