thecrew of the Hawk met around the fountain in the middle of thetown. some were sitting on the fountain and others were drinking outof it. when we arrived the men who had been in trusted with the golddrops were called forwards the men came forwards dragging heavy bagsof provisions in their wake Rikardgave a curt nod of approval at the amount. I was leaning against thefountain eyes closed and my arms crossed tightly over my chest Iopened one eye staring back at Rikardcausing my anger to flare yet again I sighed shutting my eyes tightlyI was still angry at the bastard I flexed my hands into fists then Isighed relaxing slightly as I soaked up the sun allowing my hands tofall open as I tilted my head back

"beingangry at him won't get me any where" I thought

Ilet out a yawn and opened my eyes and stared at the ground seeingthat my current position was disturbing a line of ants I smiled as Iwatched them adjust their course to go around me. I slowly allowed mygaze to go up as I looked up seeing the many stalls it took a lot ofmy self control to resist the erg to run over to them and as the wordrun bounced through my head Rikardswords sprung back into my mind

"runaway and I'll personally find and kill you and do itas slow and painful as humanly possible."

Isighed then dropped my head down again as I closed my eyes and slowlydrifted off to sleep, entirely by accident.

Ifelt someone give me a nudge I moaned stirring around slightly as Iwas nudged harder this time I jumped and my eyes slowly flutteredopened only to see Rikard Iblushed he was looking down at me with one eyebrow raised

"youfeel a sleep" he said smiling

helowered his eye brow sighing I yawned rubbing my eyes I sighed andlooked up to him he was holding something in his hand still smilingdown at me like the smug idiot he was

"wellI wouldn't have if you people weren't so damn boring" I told himbrushing stray locks of hair behind my ear I scowled up at him

hissmile grew bigger as I looked up at him

"yourSass is growing on me" he told me

hewinked at me and I blushed then I watched as he quickly fell serioushe dropped the item in to my lap I looked at it curiously not daringto make a move to pick it up

"It'sa dagger" said Rikard asmirk plastered on his lips

Ilifted an eye brow and looked at the item then looked back at him

"why?"I asked

hesighed "to protect yourself with, I won't always be there to helpthat pretty little ass out of those tiny messes like the one in thepub back there"

hecrossed his arms over his chest I looked down at the dagger as Irecapped what happened my cheeks flashed red at his reference to mybutt

"well"I said "first the fighting lessons and now this I'm starting tothink your being too nice too me?"

"Ijust want you to be properly protected the things we do aredanGerous" he informed me

Ifurrowed my eye brows looking at the dagger then I slowly looked backup at him

"sowhat your trying to say is" I started

Iheld up the dagger in the case and waved it around in front of myface his eyes followed it curiously

"I'mnot able to protect myself and my 'pretty little ass' from theobvious example of men without stabbing someone or them in the ribs?"I asked

hesmiled shaking his head as he tried to conceal the blush crawling upto his cheeks

"that'snot wha---"

"don'tlie to me pirate" I told him

placingthe dagger to my side I looked up at him with my chin raised crossingmy arms something flickered across his eyes was that anger orrecognition

"Ishould slap you" I sighed

hefurrowed his eyebrows allowing his arms to fall to his side

"youwouldn't dare" he growled

"ohreally?" I said

gettingto my feet we stood chest to chest we looked into each others eyesand his body froze but came back to life as I raised a hand to strikehim but he quickly grabbed it restraining me but found he didn't needto

"Iwould" I said "but I won't ... not yet any ways"

"kid"he warned

"pirate"I mocked

hischest seemed to puff out slightly as the words left my lips it waslike he was trying to intimidate me I just copied as he frowned downat me

"it'scaptain Rikard to you" hetold me formally "no more of this pirate nonsense" I raised aneye brow staring him down or was it up?

"it'sAngel to you no more of thiskid stuff I'm older then you think I look mister" I told himprodding him in the chest with my index finger "and Rikardwill do for me" I said

Ileaned closer to him intent on pushing him over the edge

"yournot my captain"

hisjaw clenched with what I thought and hoped to be anger and he wasquick to change the topic as I sat down again and he quickly motionedto the dagger I had laid by my side

"well"he said "take it out" I sighed again

"ifI do as you ask" I started tiredly rubbing my temple "will youplease. Stop. pestering me"

henodded and I grabbed the dagger then the hilt and pulled it out itmade a shing and the noise seemed to last forever Rikardmotioned for me to stand and without hesitation I obeyed leaving thecase on the ground Rikardfumbled around with his cloak for a few moments before he drew asleek gold encrusted dagger the crew took interest as Rikardtook a ready pose I turned my head in confusion then he struck myeyes saw it before I realised I brought mine up to intersect therewas a deafening clang and I saw Rikardwince then he began to smile

"Isee we are in the presence of a natural swords man I mean um women"

Ihad no Idea what he was talking about but the crew sure did and Icould see as he drew his hand back not only did I block it but I cuthim too he shook his hand flicking blood across the ground but beforeI could say anything he began to strike faster this time and his pacedid everything but slow down hitting mine so hard that I startedskidding across the ground I started to get tired and then tragedyhappened my heel hit the side of the fountain and I could go back nofurther then with a shove from RikardI lost my balance and fell in to the water I just managed to yell outin fright as I went back first into the fountain gulping in water Isplashed around for a few seconds before I found the top andresurfaced on my knees and leaned on the side of the fountain I wasup to my waist in water and I was drenched I coughed up water andbegan shivering with fear I couldn't swim and I hated water thenentire crew laughed Rikardand Neon included I felt myface redden from anger

"it'snot funny" I snapped at them

myface turning red and my eyes narrowing their laughing soon stoppedand some guilty individuals shrunk back

"oooo"some of the crew said

Istarted to dry off in the hot afternoon sun I climbed out of thefountain making a splish splash noise as I walked I flicked water offmyself pulling my wet hair out of my face and placed it behind my earI sat down pulling my shoes of emptying them of their water I pulledthem back on and got to my feet I looked to Rikardanger in my eyes as I burnt fury hole into his head he had alreadysheathed his daggered and retrieved the case that mine had come in hehad put the dagger in and tossed it too me it landed with a clink inmy hands he walked past me a smile on his face I fastened the daggeraround my waist with a hump Rikardpaused and turned back to me

"whatswrong" he said pouting as he saw my unhappy face

Iballed my hands up into fists as he came closer behind his back hewas holding his hands together I resisted the erg to punch him in theface as he brought his face closer to mine I turned my head furtheraway locking my jaw my face began turning red

"doyou want an apology" he asked

hebrought his face closer following me in the big circle I did the crewbegan to take interest my shoulders tensed the need to punch himheightened

"that'susually how these things work out hmm" he asked smiling

Ikept my head turned my body shaking with anger

"awware you going to cry" he chortled

restinga hand on my shoulder I tried to pull away but his grip wasrelentless he turned back to the crew

"leaveus" he said quietly

andthey all backed away Rikardturned back to me as I tried to yank my arm out of his grip he let mego amusement twinkled in his eyes

"what'syou problem" I growled

"whatsyours" he asked in the same tone

"you"I growled and he smiled

"wellyour going to have to live with that one" he told me still smiling"it's either this or deat---"

Icouldn't contain my anger towards him any more I raised my hand andstruck him hard and fast across his face a loud crack echoed aroundthe space as blood fell from the corner of his mouth. flinching hestepped back I didn't think I hit him that hard there was a gasp fromhis crew as Rikard fell tohis knees holding a hand to his cheek

"anddon't you dare get up" I growled

ashe stayed there blinking a few seconds he looked up at me withconfusion

"hah"I though "I bet he wasn't expecting thatand I also bet no women had done that too him either"

Iwent to turn away but he was quick to his feet he grabbed my wristsholding them tightly in a bone crushing vice like grip pulling mecloser to him his eyes were dark with anger and I mirrored his look

"don'tyou ever tell me what to do" he growled

"toolate" I sneered

afew seconds passed before he shouted back to his crew

"everyone. to the ship. now" he growled not taking his eyes off me

heblew his top bringing his face closer to mine I didn't cower nor didI back down I stared him straight in his hazel eyes one of his crewdid not go he peered back to see who it was he sighed irritated thenlooked back to me again

"I'vebeen more then patient with you. you disobedient little brat" heseethed

liftingme up slightly until I was on my tippy toes I started to snap backgrowling at him with whatever anger I had left in my entire body Iripped my hands out of his grip which was easier then I expected hiseyes widened slightly as I started yelling back had his crew heard?Probably. did I care? no way in hell

"wellwhat do you expect you arrogant bastard." I yelled poking my fingerhard into his toned chest making him step back and keep stepping backas I attacked him "drag me Halfway across this god forsaken earth and expect me to listen to you notall women will happily open their legs for you"

hiseyes darkened to the point were you couldn't tell his pupils from hisretinas he grabbed my wrist stopping my assault

"youdon't know how f@ck!ng deep a grave you just started diggingyourself" he growled

"ohI know very well" I growled trying to pull my arms out of his gripagain but it wasn't as easy this time "and I know I'm digging yourgrave way before I even think about digging my own"

hisentire body began to shake with anger he had the ability to kill meand get away with it but he was holding back was it because I was agirl or because of my navigational skills but know what he said nextproved my suspicions wrong

"listenhere little girl" he said angrily pulling me closer but stilltalking loudly I recoiled back "I admit I don't keep you aroundbecause of your sparkling personality or because you are a girl ohno, I don't keep you around because of pity give me a chance littleone and I will dispose of you like I do the rest of the women inmy life and currently I have only decided to keep you aroundbecause I need you as a navigator and because you are such adarn good one I have chosen to not allow you to meet your maker" Iswallowed hard

'so'I thought 'the only way I was getting out of this was death but nowthat I think about it'

"anythingto say for yourself little one an apology maybe?" he ventured "thenI might be a little nicer to you"

Ilooked down at my feet then I looked slowly up at him his hazel eyesblared at me with anger and ... remorse?

"thisis I fate sooo much worse then death" I said quietly "becauseevery were I go ..." I stopped my eyes trailed to the ground

heleaned forwards almost intent on my answer he raised a questioningeyebrow and my eyes shot up to look at him. anger was burning in myeyes and he seemed to step back

"... youare there" I yelled

hiseyes went wide but his grip on my wrist remained the same I guessthat was not the answer he was hoping to hear. he began to stareaimlessly into my blue eyes that seem to have gone manic with angerand his hazel ones looked as if they were trying to find something inmy eyes but I just kept going not caring if he actually was going tokill me or not my anger came back my timidness long gone

"wouldit kill you to just pay attention to someone other than your self foronce?" I yelled

Ibegan to shake with anger as tears fell down my face he lookedshocked and his grip loosened to the point where he let me go I fellto the ground my legs had turned to jelly as I furiously wiped mytears away his eyes lingered on me for a few seconds I watched hishand lower to his sword he grabbed it then stopped

"doit" I thought

notknowing that I had said those two words out loud his face tightenedas he drew his sword and raised it against me I watched him I didn'tflinch I didn't move a muscle I saw one of his crew that had decidedto stay behind his eyes were wide as golf balls what was his nameagain oh yeah Gallent Iactually kind of forgot he was there

"youactually want me to do it?" he said slowly I sighed

"Ihave lost everything and my life would now have been the only thingleft to loose" I told him my eyes brimming with tears "what sortof difference does it make to die now then to die in the future?"

freshtears spilled down my face I watched his knuckles turn white as hetightened his grip on the hilt I watched as his dark anger filledeyes slowly began to fill with sadness then he lowered the sword andstill holding it he turned around and stormed away from me I satthere for a few moments wondering why the hell he didn't do it Ifroze completely

"hecouldn't have started caring for me already?" I thought tomyself

Iwatched him for a few seconds he didn't go very far away from me Ibrought my knees closer to my chest I took in a slow shudderingbreath I swallowed burying my heard between my knees allowing them todry my tears I felt a hand run down my back I flinched but allowed mybody to relax when I realised it wasn't Rikardbut Gallent

"don'tlet what he said get too you Kitten" he cooed I said nothing and hedidn't talk allowing the silence to drag

"Rikardwants to be the one to escort you back to the ship" he finally saidI sighed

"ofcourse he does" I grumbled

"isthere maybe anything you want to do before he wants to go" he askedI smiled and raised my head

"maybeget some Cyanide so I could forcefully pour it down the bastardsthroat" I growled he chuckled

"that'sa new one other women usually want to get something for Rikardto apologise but you just seem to want to kill him" I smiled againhe got to his feet and I followed slowly

"yougot that right" I mumbled "he did say the only way I could leavewas if he or I died soo" he smiled

Ilooked up just as Rikardmade his way over to us. casually he rested a hand on his sword

"timeto go" he said crossing his arms

Isighed I had had enough of this he turned and started walking Gallentfollowed close behind it took them twenty meters to figure out Iwasn't following Rikardturned to me grunted then walked back

"come"he said

"I'mnot a dog" I bit out

"wellyour acting like one, come" he barked

Icould see the vein popping out along his neck as I walked up to himand then I blew my top I pushed him back in anger yelling at himGallent watched amused as Icontinued to force him back and he went willingly a shocked look onhis face

"I'mnot allowed to boss you around oh really well where do you standRicky to boss me around as far as I can see you have nojurisdiction to push me around I'm not your crew, I am mostcertainly not your friend, I don't even know who the hell you are?"

Ibacked him up against the wall his face drain of the rest of itscolour his eyes shot to Gallentbehind me

"andif you think and expect every body to listen to you straight off thebat" I seethed through gritted teeth "I don't even think youdeserve to call yourself captain"

thecolour rushed back to his face and he pushed his hand against myabdomen forcing me hard against the wall I gasped

"leaveGallent" he barked

Gallenthesitated then turned and left Rikardsighed then turned to me his face coming danGerouslyclose

"don'tyou ever push me around like that again" he growled

Itried to shift away from him but his hands pushed me tighter againstit

"ohno you don't" he growled "your getting every thing that's comingto you"

andthat's when his lip touched mine quickly causing my body to freeze ashe pulled away anger still in his serious hazels eyes which lookedeven more intimidating

"don't.You. Ever. Boss. me. Around. again, little one" he growled"I have all the jurisdiction in the world to push your cute littleass around"

ashe pulled away from me all I could do was stare blink and open andclose my mouth like a gold fish he smirked at me

"damn"I thought "where's my come back?"

thenall my anger came rushing back as my hand once again swung around andmade contact with his other cheek his head snapped to the side and hegasped with surprise falling back to the ground he stared up at mewith shock blood now fell from both sides of his mouth and before hecould do anything I started walking I heard him come after me and hegrabbed me around the waist I yelped with surprise as he pushed mestomach first against the wall I heard a shing as he held a daggeragainst my neck I froze still as a statue as he brought his mouthclose to my ear speaking slowly

"Idon't know what you think I am to you sweet heart. But, I am noordinary man, so slapping me twice does not help the littlepredicament your in nor does pushing me around you embarrassed me infront of one of my ship mate and best friend who has probably gone off to wag his tongueto the rest of my crew. and you better hope sweet heart that those handmarks you so graciously gave me don't come out. Because your mineuntil I die or you die and I see that coming up in the near futuregot it?"I said nothing I held my anger in "got it?" heseethed

"that'swhat you get for being a bastard" I said he pushed me harderagainst the wall I winced "and this is what you get for kissing me"

andthen I dove my elbow into his stomach he gasped letting me go hestepped back and without another word I started and continued walking
