You Will Lose
Some time later, Dr. Porter came by to check on Lillian and to fill out the baby's birth certificate. Danny proudly sighed his name and Jessica felt so happy.
After signing everything that needed to be signed, Danny went home to change his clothes and bring back some lunch for the both of them.
While Danny was gone, Abigail, Rick and John came to visit and bring gifts. Balloons and flowers now were decorated around the room.
Lillian was being passed around by her siblings and Jessica got to lay back and relax.
She smiled as she watched her older children interact with their baby sister. Her heart felt so full.
Lillian began to fuss after some time and Jessica took her back into her arms to nurse her.
Abigail helped her mother unbutton her nursing gown and got her baby sister situated.
Lillian latched on instantly. They sat around and had a casual conversation.
After a while, the three siblings decided that they weren't done spoiling their baby sister, so they all walked down to the gift shop.
Lillian had finished nursing and now, Jessica held her close in her arms and spoke softly to her. Jessica was so in love with her daughter and she was so happy that she had made the decision to have her baby. Lillian was so worth it and more.
The door suddenly opened and Jessica looked up. Her eyes were wide. "What are you doing here, Phillip?" She asked.
Phillip stepped inside the room and replied. "I...I came to see my child."
Jessica rolled her eyes and huffed. "You're drunk, Phillip! Leave now." She said in even voice.
Phillip took a step forward; he swayed but steadied himself.
"I want to see my child!" He yelled. "You will not keep me from her!"
Jessica grew afraid but, she kept herself calm and said. "You didn't want her. You have no right to say you want to see her now."
Lillian began to fuss when Phillip yelled and Jessica held her closer. She patted Lillian's back to soothe her.
"I...I have every right!" Phillip yelled again. "I am her father dammit!"
Lillian was crying loudly by now and Jessica was trying to soothe her again. Phillip stepped forward and tried to take Lillian out of Jessica's arms.
"Phillip stop!" Jessica cried out. "Leave us alone! Get out of my room now!" Tears rolled down her cheeks as she shielded Lillian as best she could.
In that moment, Abigail, Rick and John came back into the room. They saw what was going on and immediately John rushed over and pushed Phillip away from his mother's bed.
"Get the hell out of here, Phillip!" John said angrily.
"Out of my way! I'm here to see my child!" Phillip slurred.
"No way, Dad!" Rick stepped up. "You need to leave."
"Jessica, if you don't let me see my child, I will take you court!" Phillip yelled. "I will get custody!"
Abigail laughed humorlessly. "I don't think so dad. If you take mom to court for custody then I'll be her lawyer. As of now, your track record is not so clean. All of us will testify against you that you are an unfit father! You know my track record of winning cases and you know you will lose! Now get out and don't bother mom or baby sister ever again."
In all honesty, Phillip still wanted nothing to do with the baby. He just wanted to make Jessica's life a living hell.
Phillip looked at Abigail angrily but he knew she was right. Abigail was one of the best lawyers in town and he would lose if he were to pursue custody.
"Ah, to hell with all you!" Phillip yelled one last time then rushed out of the room.
Jessica was sobbing still trying to calm Lillian. Abigail and her brothers rushed over to Jessica's side and helped her calm down.
"It's okay, mom." Abigail said soothingly. "Dad will never bother you again. We will make sure of it."
"Yeah, mom. We won't let him near you or Lillian again." John said. "He's just pissed because he's all alone now and he lost everything. He lost his family."
"Please calm down, mom." Rick said.
Jessica sniffled as she slowly began to calm down. Lillian too was becoming quiet. Lillian looked up at her mother and cooed.
"See, even Lillian is telling you that everything is going to be okay." Rick said.
Jessica giggled through her tears and kissed Lillian's forehead. "Oh, Lillian. I'm so sorry you had to see that. Your brothers and sister are right. We're okay now."
Jessica wiped her tears, looked at her children and said. "I love all of you so much."
"We love you too, mom," The older siblings said in unison.
Jessica smiled and in that moment, she knew everything would truly be okay.
