"It's a cursed book."

"It's snowing," Natalia says excitedly rushing over to Bella as she and Jessica walk to lunch.

"Ew," Bella says her nose scrunching.

"Don't you like snow?" Natalia asks looking scandalized. Bella goes on a rant about why snow was bad.

"How about you, Natalia? Did you seen snow back in Texas?" Jessica asked.

"Ye, only once, but that's why I love it so much," Natalia answers nudging Bella playfully who glared playfully. Natalia was about to tease the girl when she to get hit in the back with a snow ball.

"I'll see you at lunch," Bella says walking as she spoke holding her binder up,"I don't do wet stuff."  Nodding she whirled around to find the culprit, a laughing Emmett Cullen.

"Cullen!" She screeched making him laugh harder,"Your gonna pay for that!"

"Your gonna have to catch me first," He calls back heading to his siblings, and Natalia hesitates before finding the courage to follow.

"I know Esme taught you better then that," Natalia says lobbing a snowball at him to which he ducked.

"You know Esme?" He asks shocked looking confused.

"I work at her shop," Natalia says ducking a well aimed snowball before smirking,"It's very sweet hearing that you talk about me to your family." From next to her Alice, Edward, and Jasper laugh.

"Oh, before I forget," Natalia says turning without thinking she chunked a snowball at Edward as fast as she could. He manged to somehow doge it as if he knew what she was going to do. His eyes where widen in disbelief. Emmett let out a booming laugh, and even Rosalie's lips twitched.

"If you keep being a jerk to, Bella" Natalia warns putting her hand on her hip jabbing her other one at him,"I swear i'll you'll regret it Cullen."

"You think you could do anything?" Edward asks in the same tone that Emmett had before. Like she was unaware of some inside joke.

"I'm more dangerous then I look," Natalia growls pushing away the memories before any could actually be formed.

"For some reason, I believe you," Edward says seriously.

"Good," Natalia says with a wicked smile.

"Oh, I like her," Alice says,"I'm Alice, but you probably know that."

"Esme talks about y'all a lot," Natalia admits,"She seem's pretty proud.

"Really?" A voice says from her other side. She turns to see Jasper. He still looked pained like she first saw, but there was intrigue in it.

"Yep," She say's popping the 'p' adding teasingly,"You should know I have a lot black mail." She felt a sudden wave of happiness as Jasper seemed to smile look less pained.

"I should go," She says as the lunch bell rang officially starting lunch,"See you in seventh period, Emmett."

"I'll let you copy my homework," Emmett teases.

"It's fine I found the answer key already," She jokes back nodding to the others before walking away.

"Edward Cullen is back," Bella whispered as Natalia sat down. She instead of going right to lunch she stopped by her car to get a pair of gloves, so when she did sit down, the Cullen's had already made it inside.

"I know. I threatened him," Natalia says offhandedly.

"You what?" Bella hisses.

"Edward is staring at you," Natalia says amused.

"Does he look angry?" She asks.

"No," Natalia says,"Maybe he was just having a bad day."

"Stop starring at him," Bella hisses and Natalia snickers before asking,"Hey, did you do the English homework?" While they had different periods, they shared the same teacher.

"Yeah, need help?" She asks and Natalia nods pulling out keeping Bella's mind off of Edward.

"Hey," Natalia says to Bella when the bell rang noticing how anxious the other girl was,"It's okay. You'll be fine, and if Cullen is rude tell me. I'll beat him up." Bella glares, but there was no heat the was gratitude filling her eyes weakening the glare.

Natalia pulled into the Cullen's drive way. It had taken her half an hour to find the house having gotten lost more times then she cared to admit. She had gone to a garage sell, and had found a old book that finished a collection the store had been trying to gain. They supposedly cursed which Natalia found fascinating. She had called Esme right away. The women gave Natalia her address.

As soon as she parked she hoped out grabbing the wrapped up book taking only a moment to admire the house. Before she could knock the door opened to reveal Edward.

"Hey, Edward. Thanks for not angering Bella," Natalia says before quickly asking excitedly,"Is Esme here?"

"Yes, come in," He says with a charming smile, but she wasn't paying attention already walking in.

"You got it?" Esme asks excitedly coming down the stairs,"I thought the Anderson's refused to sell it?"

"Your house is amazing," Natalia compliments before getting back to the matter her smile growing wide ,"They were at first, but their youngest got spooked. Poor girl, and all that...anyway they decided to sell it. Let me tell you, Mr. Anderson drove a hard bargain, but I got the price pretty low. I looked up a some of the myths around the book, and apparently not only had the author died, but if you dig deep enough you find that his wife died trying to get rid of the book."

"Oh, Natalia you're enjoying this too much. It's not decent," Esme teased smiling.

"It's a cursed book," Natalia says as if it made it better,"It belonged to the author and his wife. People say that if you own the book long enough you'll still here the wife's cries as she is killed."

"Do you actually believe in that stuff?" A deep voice says from the stairs.

"Hi, Emmett," Natalia says with a smile.

"Do you belie in that stuff. The whole supernatural thing?" He asks again looking slightly serious. It confused Natalia. Esme and Edward both looked at her as well.

"Yeah...I mean, I was introduced to it at a young age," Natalia says softly,"My mom told me that my ancestors were accused of witch craft, and that they had this strange ability that comes out when there in danger. It's said that they could control people with a single touch."

"So you believe in witches?" he asks.

"No, I don't believe they where witches at least in the sense they where talking about,"Natalia says her hand going to her glasses slowly pushing them up,"...but it would make sense that something is out there other then human. The supernatural, I mean. It's not a huge stretch with evaluation, and it would be pretty selfish of us to not even consider the possibility."

"Do you think your ancestor really had those abilities?" Edward wonders from the kitchen counter where he was leaning against.

"I didn't always, but now? Yeah, something makes think that could be true," Natalia says remembering how she had thought the it was so stupid that anyone believed such a story.

"I should go," Natalia says suddenly handing the book to Esme.

"You don't have to hurry, dear," Esme tries to assure taking the book, but Natalia shakes her head folding her arms.

"I, uh, I got homework," She says with a weary smile,"I'll see you at work, Esme. I'll see y'all at school." They say their own good bye, and she missed their curious looks as she rushed out the book still in hand.

A/N: This fills slightly rushed, but I just wanted to through this chapter as it really sets up the rest of the book. What do y'all think? Do you like it? Is it okay? Is it the worst chapter you've ever read, and think I should give up writing? Feel free to tell me in the comments, and if you like it that much vote. Also the book isn't nor the any of the myths are based on anything. I made everything up.
