"When did you last change the shafts?" the Military Police asked.

"Six days ago. After the clean-up operation." Sasha answers.

Apparently, someone killed two of the Scout Regiments Titans and they are investigating who the killer might be.

"Just as the records say." a Military Police women with a clipboard say. "Okay, next. You."

"Krista Lenz, squad 42." Krista answers and they check her gear.

They already checked mine so I was just lazing around, having my gaze and bored stare go around everywhere.

Annie, Armin, and Connie started talking about which regiment they wanted to go to.

Then I had flashbacks to last night where we all, surviving cadets of The Battle of Trost, watched our dead comrades burn in front of us.

Surprisingly, Jean said he wanted to join the Survey Corps and I already made that decision as well.

Only because, I needed to know more information about what the Scouts know, and that Eren might be a possible suspect who holds the power of the Founding Titan and the coordinate.

As we were all leaving, I see a few high-ranked Scouts look at me like they were talking behind my back, just like Reiner, Bertolt, and Annie. But I ignored it and went back to the cafeteria for lunch.

It was now the day where we get to choose which regiment we were joining. I stood next to Connie as all of us stood or sat there in silence.

"Which regiment are you joining?" I ask in a low and cold tone. "At this point, I don't know. What about you?" he ask and to that I put head down because he knows.

"Don't tell me you're still joining the Survey Corps. After everything that happened in Trost, how can you still have the guts to do that?" Connie asks in concern. "I told you Connie. Because I'm strong." I mimick my mom's words once again.

I honestly just strive on it.

Then we all look up to see Jean walking towards us.

"Jean! You're really joining the Survey Corps?" Armin asks. "Yeah." he responds.

"Why, all of a sudden? I mean... Aren't you scared?" Sasha says. "Huh? Of course I don't want to join the Survey Corps." Jean says cocking his head.

"Th-Then why..." Connie asks. "It isn't that I decided the Titans don't scare me. And I won't say something like, 'The best should join the Survey Corps.' I'm not as eager to die as some." Jean refers.

"You mean Eren? He already joined the Survey Corps." I say. "Trainees, line up! Line up before the stage!" someone yelled and we all started to stand up.

"I'm not risking my life because someone convinced me. This is a job you can't do unless you decide for yourself." Jean says then walks away and I walk away with Connie.

"You know, I think Ms. Springer will be proud if you join the Military Police. But I know what regiment you have decided, so join the one that you want." then I walk away with Connie having his eyes wide with his jaw open, having the face if like I told him the secrets about the Titans and the walls.

"I am Erwin Smith, Commander of the Survey Corps...." it was now the Scout Regiment's turn to try and persuade us.

He started talking about how if we were to be recruited, we would be participating in an upcoming expedition in Wall Maria to find a path for Zhiganshina because Eren's basement holds the secret for the Titans.

I am going to be totally honest, I didn't pay attention that much. Of course I noted the important details like expedition and Eren's basement and blah blah blah but other than that, I would still be joining the Survey Corps for Eren's sake because I personally think he has the Founding Titan's powers.

Surely, people got excited when he announced that they have advanced so far that they will find out the truth behind the Titans. But then, all of that was lost when he said the next upcoming expedition that new recruits would be participating in would wipe out 30% of their men.

Afterwards, almost everyone walked away except for me, Armin, Mikasa, Jean, Connie, Sasha, Reiner, Bertolt, Ymir, and Krista and a few other cadets. I was surprised that Connie actually decided to stay. I was right about my gamble, he did wanted to join the Survey Corps.

While Commander Erwin was looking at the small amount of people willing to join the Scout Regiment, he stopped his gaze at me and smiled and I gave a question look before he walked off stage.

After joining the Survey Corps, we prepared for the next upcoming expedition.

Squad Leader Ness taught us the formation and where we would be.

In the middle of class a Scout Member came in the door.

"Sir. Commander Erwin would like to see Y/n L/n." he says and immediately the classroom filled with new recruitments started whispering.

I look towards Connie who also gives me a confusing look. "Y/n L/n? Are you there?" Squad Leader Ness calls out.

I stood from my seat. "Yes, sir." He then gestures for me to go towards the Scout and I did so.

I followed him towards a room not too far from the classroom or the SCHQ. (Survey Corps Head Quarters)

He opens the door for me and I walk in to see Commander Erwin and Captain Levi. I turn around to look at the Scout but he closed the door.

"Are you Y/n L/n?" he asks in a sweet tone. "Yes, sir." I say. "Please sit." he gestures for me to sit in the chair in front of his desk.

I sit down and gaze at them. "Did I do something wrong, sir?" I ask. "Not in the slightest. I wanted to inform you that in recent reports, it says you did excellent in The Battle of Trost. Say, how many Titans did you manage to kill?" Erwin ask.

"Well I won't lie, I was keeping count. But I lost the luxury after 14. I know I got way more kills than that but I guess I was too focused on the mission." I respond.

"Impressed and humble. How would you like it to be in the Special Operations Squad with Levi?" Erwin ask and my eyes widen a little bit.

"Special Operations Squad...?" I mumble. Should I turn it down? Or should I not? "Oi, answer the question." Captain Levi says in a cold and harsh tone.

"Also, one of your comrades from the 104th cadet corps is in there. Eren Jaeger." Erwin states.

Yep, can't turn it down.

"I don't think I have much authority over what Squad I want to be in. So you should have made that more of an order instead of a question. But if it is, then yes. I will be honored to join the Special Operations Squad." I respond and he gives out a smile.

"Great, Levi. Take her to your Head Quarters. She needs to learn the new for-" Erwin then stops mid sentence.

I have a confused look on my face to why he stopped. "Actually, Y/n. Before you join the Special Operations Squad, I need to ask you a question." he states but now his smile was gone and he is narrowing his eyebrows at me.

"You have heard of our two expiremental Titans, right?" he asks. "Yes, sir." I respond. "You know how they died and we had to check your 3DM Gear, correct?" he asks again. "Yes, sir." I respond.

"What did you see? Who is the enemy?" he asks and my eyes immediately went into confusion.

I started to think hard to what he meant behind the question. I would say I have more brauns then brains so I had to think really hard.

In the end I didn't know what to say so I responded randomly. "Well, somehow they both died from someone having 3DM Gear. I think there's a traitor." I respond and both of them had surprisingly wide eyes to my response.

They both then glanced at each other nodding to a mental agreement I couldn't read.

"Do you think we could tell her?" Captain Levi asks. "No, but she is aloud to know your formation." Commander Erwin answers.

"Alright, y/n. Do as I said before, follow Levi to the head quarters."

I then learned the formation of where they were and met up with Eren at the stables.

"Eren." I call out. Eren then turns around. "Y/n? What are you doing here?" Eren asks.

"I have been promoted to be apart of the Special Operations Squad. I joined the Survey Corps. How have you been with your Titan powers?" I ask. "It's just weird. Not sure how to explain it. What about you? Are you okay? What about Mikasa and Armin?" he asks.

"I am okay. Just exhausted. But they should be arriving soon along with the rest." I say. "Along with the rest...?" Eren then steps outside the stables and I follow behind him.

"Th-That's... Sir, may I go talk with my classmates?" Eren asks a weird looking man drinking water. "Tch. Get going..." he responds and immediately me and Eren start jogging towards the others.

"Hey, Mikasa! Armin!" Eren calls out. "Eren. Y/n..." Mikasa says.

"Feels like its been a long time!" Eren smiles. "Eren, did they do anything bad to you? Like investigating every square inch of you? Or psychological torture?" Mikasa asks in concern and worry and I roll my eyes to how annoying and clingy she is to Eren.

"No way." Eren responds "That short guy went too far. Someday, I'll see him pay for it." Mikasa vows.

"Mikasa. Stop being dramatic and overprotective. Eren is fine." I groan with an annoyed tone.

"Hey, Eren." Connie greets. "It's been so long!" Sasha says.

"What? Everyone's here? But if you're here, then... That doesn't mean you joined the Survey Corps, does it?" Eren ask. "Of course they joined. Why else would they be here?" I say.

"So only Jean, Annie, and Marco joined the MP?" Eren says but everyone flinches at Marco's name.

Me and Eren turn around to see Jean. "No way... Not you, too!" Eren says towards Jean. "Eren. Nobody wants to hear you and Jean fight again." I mumble loud enough.

"Huh?!" Eren looks at me. "Marco's dead." Jean cuts Eren's tantrum.

"What was that? Did you say Marco's dead?" Eren now has a sad face. "Seems not everyone gets a dramatic death. I don't even know how he died. He died without anyone knowing, or anyone seeing." Jean finishes.

But almost on animal instincts, my gaze turns over to Bertolt and when he looks at me back, he flinches in fear.

I was kind of confused because I was just starring at people but I guess that's how it is.

After a small moments of mourning our friend's death, we were called over by Squad Leader Ness that our uniforms were finally here.

We all heroically put on the dark green capes with the Survey Corps logo on it.

The bells rang. We were all on our horses ready to set off in Wall Maria to find a path for Zhiganshina. Many of my friends and comrades will die today. But I still had one goal, to protect Eren.

I was next to Eren, both of us on a horse, and he was looking at some kids praising the Survey Corps in awe.

I slipped on my ring for emergency. But I think my blades could do the work.

"It's time! Humanity will take another step forward. Show me what you can do!"

We all raise our fists and blades and yell.

"Open the gate!" and the gate opens.

"Advance!" and we all charge off. "We will now begin the 57th expedition beyond the walls! Onward!"
