FEW MONTHS LATER

"Stay safe Conny and y/n!" Conny's mother calls out.

"Stop worrying mom! We will!" Conny tries swatting away his mother's hand.

"Y/n. Make sure Conny doesn't do anything stupid. You know how he gets." Conny's father jokes.

"Dad! I don't need y/n to take care of me! I am a man now, I am perfectly fine!" Conny insists.

You look at Conny's parents with a gloomy expression of blankness. Your eyelids covered half of your eyes and and you weren't getting all excited and stoic like Conny was.

"We will be going now. Thank you for taking care of me Mr and Mrs. Springer." you thank.

"Oh no! Don't worry about it. Go before you miss your training!" Conny's mother says and you and Conny head off.

You guys signed up to train as cadets for the next three years. Conny had obvious eyes for MP when you still wanted to go to see how much people knew about Titans. And also if you could find an alliance with people who were trust worthy enough to know your secrets or what secret you knew.

"We are finally starting cadet training and you haven't smile once ever since I met you. You alright?" Conny asks.

"Why smile when I don't want to. Nor do I need to. I am rarely ever experiencing happiness." you answer back in a cold tone as always.

"I feel like I don't know you as much as I think I do. Just talk to me!" Conny groaned as he slouched his back waiting for a reply.

"There is nothing to talk about. At least nothing of your concern." you reply.

His eyes widen and lit up, "Ohh! So there is something you are hiding! Well then... Mark my words y/n l/n. I'll get it out of you one day. You wait and see. I am going to make you the more extroverted person on the planet." Conny vows.

"You could try. But I hope you know that you being extroverted towards me isn't going to make me extroverted too." you say back and he groans because you were right.

"We now begin the enlistment ceremony for the 104th Trainee Corps! I am Keith Shadis, and I had the misfortune to be assigned to train you fools. And I'm not here to welcome you at all! Right now, you're mere cattle, fit for nothing but Titan food! No less than cattle... In three years, we'll take you worthless pieces of crap and train you! Give you the means to fight the Titans. In three years, when you stand before a Titan, will you still be food? Or will you be a noble wall, shielding the King? Or perhaps, one of humanity's glorious solders that slay Titans. You will decide!" Shadis said.

He then started to go over to everyone and ask where there are from then instantly find someway to put them down. You were unfazed by this and weren't the least bit scared.

Some of the other cadets were already shaking in their boots by the sight of Shadis. Wait till you see a Titan.

He then goes up to Conny.

"Next! You! Who are you?!" Shadis asks.

"Conny Springer, of Ragako Village, Wall Rose South District!" Conny gets into his salute but his salute was wrong.

You click your tongue at his mistake and instantly Shadis picks him up by the head.

(I'm going to spell it as Connie now)

"You're doing it wrong, Connie Springer... I explained the this salute demonstrates your resolve to devote your entire heart to the people. Is your heart in your right side?" but Shadis scolding immediately stops when he sees a girl in the back eating a potato.

You shake your head slightly and roll your eyes at how unprofessional these cadets were.

He then goes up to her and scolds her at her unprofessional words of choice. He then tells her to run laps until sundown.

You were now assigned your cabins. You had one with Armin, Eren, Marcos, Mina, and Connie.

You all were outside watching potato girl run for her actions at the ceremony.

"He still making that potato girl run? Wow, five straight hours? But she seemed more distraught when he told her she wouldn't get dinner than when told she must run until she dropped." Eren said.

"If I remember correctly, Dauper Village is a tiny hunting village, deep in the mountains." Connie talked about potato girls village.

"What was that?" Eren asks.

"The dropouts. They requested a transfer, to the frontier." Mina said.

"What? But it's only the first day." Armin said.

"It was only a matter of time. If you aren't strong enough you have to leave. Hard to believe they'd rather go back to weeding and picking up rocks." Eren said.

"Hey, he didn't ask where you were from, did he?" Marco asks.

"Zhiganshina, the same as him." Eren said as he put his hand on Armin's shoulder.

Everyone eyes except yours goes wide as they realize both Armin and Eren are survivors of Zhiganshina.

"I see... That's..." Marco mutters.

"Then, weren't you there that day?" Connie asks.

"H-Hey!" Marco tries to stop Connie.

"Did you see the Colossal Titan?" Connie asks and the name of Colossal Titan brings your attention clearer to the conversation.

"Y-Yeah..." Eren answers.

You knew Connie told almost everyone about how Eren is from Zhiganshina so you got your food and immediately went to Eren so that when other people ask him about the Titans you can listen in.

"May I sit here?" you ask.

"Oh.. uh.. Yeah. Sure." he says and you sit next to him not so close but a good distance.

Then just as you suspected, many people started to come up to Eren asking him what the Titans looked like and you closely listen into everything Eren said.

Maybe I can become close friend with him to get more information about the Colossal and Armored Titan. I have to kill them before they kill Ymir's subjects. I have to kill the Beast Titan.

"I already told you I saw it." Eren says and everyone let's out a ooohhhh.

"Really?!"

"How big was it?!"

"Big enough to look over the walls." Eren answers.

"What? I heard it stepped right over them!"

"Me too!"

"That's what they said in my village."

"No, it wasn't that tall." Eren says.

"What did it look like?"

"It barely had any skin, but it had a huge mouth." Eren answered.

"What about the Armored Titan that broke Wall Maria?"

"They call it that, but it looked like a normal Titan to me." Eren says.

You mentally take notes to everything he is saying about the Titans.

So they are trying to kill Ymir's subjects. I was too late.

"Th-Then what's a normal Titan like?" someone asks.

And to that Eren's face tenses up and he drops his spoon in his soup covering his mouth with his hand.

"Guys, let's stop with the questions. I'm sure he'd prefer to forget some things." Marco says.

"I'm sorry for asking-"

"Don't be!" Eren cut off Connie. "The Titans aren't all that tough... If we can master the 3D maneuver gear, they won't stand a chance! Finally I am able to train as a soldier... I was just so excited, I forgot myself for a second. I'm joining the Survey Corps, so I can wipe the Titans off the face of this earth. I'll kill them all-"

"Hey, are you nuts?" Eren was cut off by a voice. Jean's voice."Did you just say you want to join the Survey Corps?"

And then from that moment on you stop listening to Eren and zoned out because you knew an argument between them was coming.

But you did take note that Eren now wanted to join the Survey Corps like you. Where you can get more information about Paradis and it's knowledge.

Not too long after Eren walked away and Jean ran outside to see the beautiful asian he was complimenting.

"Y/n. Let's go!" Connie tells you and you got up and left with him.

You and Connie step outside and Connie passes Jean and Jean wipes his hand on Connie's back.

"H-Hey! That's my shirt! Y/n what did he do? Why did you wipe on my shirt?" Connie starts freaking out and twitches his back to try and see what Jean did to him and you only looked at him with an unfazed face.

"My trust." Jean answers with darkness over his eyes.

"First, we'll evaluate what you have! Anyone unable to do this can't even serve as a decoy! They will be send to the frontier." Shadis says.

It was the next day and you were all now training to balance on the Maneuver Gear.

It was your turn and you get into it. They slowly lift you up and you balanced with ease showing no sign of it being hard even though you found it a little bit challenging to balance because you did small twitches here and there.

"Woah! She got it on the first try!"

"She makes it look so easy!"

"Wonder if I can do that."

As you were hanging there you saw two other men in green long jackets look at you almost like they are whispering about you.

You look over to your left and see Eren hanging upside down on the gear and you roll your eyes at how he was talking big about killing the titans and he couldn't even balance on the Maneuver Gear.

Your POV

I got my food and was about to sit down. I wanted to go and sit at Eren's so I got my way over there.

"Can I sit here again." I ask him but he doesn't answer because he was zoning out.

"Eren. Someone asked you a question." Mikasa told Eren.

"Oh... Right. You can sit." Eren said.

I sat down next to Armin but the farthest possible. Not too far that I can't hear what they have to say but enough to seem like I am not stalking.

"There's no point in worrying. You just have to figure it out tomorrow." Mikasa said.

I am guessing she is trying to comfort him because he couldn't do the Maneuver Gear correctly.

"I'm pathetic... I'll never be able to kill them all like this." he says.

"You should let that idea go." Mikasa says.

"What?!" Eren asks.

"You should give up on being a soldier. There are other ways to fight than by throwing away your life." Mikasa says.

"Listen here... I saw what happened that day! You really think you'll convince me this way?" Eren says.

"But it doesn't matter how much you want it." Mikasa says.

"Why not?" Eren asks but Mikasa stays silent so I answer for her.

"Because it isn't your decision whether you become a soldier or not." I speak up.

And the whole table looks at me.

"Y/n is correct, Eren. I'm not saying you should return to the frontier alone." Mikasa says.

"L-Lets go Armin." Eren says.

"Right..." he responds and they both got up and left and it was just me and Mikasa at the table until potato girl shows up.

"So, can I take that?" Sasha asks.

3rd person Pov

"Eren Jaeger, are you ready?" Shadis says.

"Yes!" Eren answers.

Today was the next day of the Maneuver Gear training and if you couldn't pass this then you are moved to frontier.

They were now testing Eren.

"Begin!" Shadis says and they start to slowly pull him up.

Eren then starts to balance and the other cadets cheer. But not soon after he flips upside down.

You notice something with his belt. It's broken. You go up to Shadis and whisper to him.

"Excuse me if I am wrong, but the belt is broken." you whisper coldly.

His eyes then widened while he turns to you in fear and shock.

While you were talking to him Eren was also looking at you.

"Put him down." Shadis says and they did. Eren was now on his knees with humiliation.

"Wagner, change belts with Jaeger." Shadis says.

"Y-Yes sir." Thoma says.

And so they exchanged belts.

You were correct. The Eren's belt was broken but it seems that Shadis already knew that...

They lifted Eren up and he started balancing on the Maneuver Gear.

"You equipment was defective. The fitting on your belt was damaged. I've never heard of this part being damaged. I'll have to add it to the maintenance checklist." Shadis says.

Immediately the crowd grew whispers and mutters of people being shocked he was able to balance with a broken belt.

"Th-Then, did I pass?" Eren asks.

"You're fine. Commence training."

Eren and you passed.

And now you were flying in the air with your Maneuver Gear. I do flips and tricks on it with ease as you feel the freedom and wind up against your body.

You felt free.

As you left the mess haul to head back to your cabin, you felt someone tap your shoulder.

You turn around to see Eren.

"May I help you?" you ask.

"I... I just wanted to say thank you..." he says nervously.

"Thank you for what?" you ask.

"Well you told Shadis my belt was broken, correct? Without you I wouldn't have became a soldier so thank you." Eren says.

"It's no problem. I hope we can be friends Eren. You seem like a kind boy." and you walk away.

Eren watches you as you walk away.
