Ep 5: The Story of Two Brothers!

Amanda raced into the front yard of the mansion eager to keep up with Free. Which was proving more difficult than she had originally thought. Dodging bushes, plants, and the main fountain she finally caught up to Free out of breath. Unlike Amanda, Free stood there watching her. Once she finally caught her breath she said really fast

"I hope we can become better friends and talk more soon. Here's my phone number I've got to go, bye!"

Amanda took off sprinting feeling ashamed of how fast she had talked. Lowering her head as she ran back a single voice stopped her in her tracks.

"Wait,"

Amanda turned around seeing Free holding his bag over his shoulder. He gave a little smile and nodded. Amanda silently nodded back. Free adjusted his bag and took off running into the night. Amanda snapped back into reality and started walking back to the house. After closing the door Carson asked

"Is it me or was there something intimidating about that guy?"

Amanda chuckled and not long after her chuckling soon turned into laughter. When she finally caught her breath from laughing she answered

"I guess."

After a moment of silence Amanda's father peeked his head out from his study.

"Amanda, can you come into my study. We've got some things to talk about."

******

Amanda sat in a wooden leather chair across from her fathers matching wooden desk. The desk however gave off and authoritative presence in the room making Amanda feel even smaller. The desk had a few monitors, keyboards, and office supplies. But what really caught Amanda's eye was what was behind the desk.

Trophies, medals, certificates, even letters in recognition. Some rewards were for Beyblade back when her father was younger. But others were recent for his technological advancements.

"I'm sorry,"

Her father was taken aback by this but he decided to let her keep talking.

"I'm sorry, I've fought you all of these years. I've never really realized how much you're still into the game even though you're too old. I get it now, nobody in our family has the same passion for it like you do. That's why you wanted me to do it, because it would make your day seeing your passion and spirit passed down through generations. But even though it isn't my thing doesn't mean we can't hang out."

"I know that now, I'm sorry."

"You know what's funny dad."

"What?"

"Before Free came along neither of us were talking to each other and look at us now. I'm actually in your study! Before you would have told me to go babysit Carson."

Her father chuckled a little bit and replied "I guess so, even though he didn't say much I guess his presence still had an impact. I was almost intimidated when I first saw him and I still am."

Amanda started laughing and soon her father joined in. In between laughter she replied.

"You thought you were intimidated, I was scared to talk to him. I barely managed to get a few words before I took off running earlier."

They both shared another round of laughter.

"Hey dad?"

"Yeah Amanda?"

"Who's that?"

Amanda pointed to the picture above the fireplace. In the picture was a younger man with cyan hues and a black suit with purple folds. He had multi colored hair and a white scarf wrapped around his neck.

"You want to hear a story?"

Amanda nodded her head but didn't say a word. Her father let out a sigh and relaxed.

"Well think of this story as the Lion King, a long time ago there were two brothers who each loved to blade. I loved doing it just for the fun and pleasure of hanging out with my friends. Meanwhile Theodore was a bit more on the serious and strategic side. But neither of us cared at the time that was until we got older."

"Eventually we decided to start our own Bey Club and over time it grew with popularity. Theodore owned the team and I was the trainer and co-owner. We were a team he handled the financial and business side of things."

"Meanwhile I worked on the technology and strategy. We won a few tournaments here and there but sadly we soon grew apart. Eventually Theodore started acting different to the point where it had felt like he had changed into an entirely different person."

"Not being present for tournaments, or missing out on team parties. He was almost like a ghost, you couldn't see him but you definitely knew he was there. Our relationship got so bad that eventually he just kicked me out. That's the last time I ever heard from him.

Amanda was quiet letting that sink in.

"That's why I was so startled when I saw Free earlier. Neither of us had talked to each other back then but I wanted answers. When we were taking breaks from training I asked him if he knew where my brother went but sadly he didn't know."

"I still have one question. What was that little red thingy you gave Free?"

"Oh so back when I was a Bey Trainer in order to help bladers strengthen their muscles I had these little weights they could attach to their launchers. So that way when they launched without it it would feel lighter and easier."

"Hey dad? Can you possibly or maybe even teach me a little bit about becoming a Bey trainer?"

Amanda's father pulled her into a side hug.

"Of course."

They both looked up at Theodore and Ethans picture hanging above the fireplace. Amanda mentally promised to herself that she would never become like Uncle Theodore..
