Ep 4: Saying Goodbye
Although Amanda would never admit it to anyone but she did think Free was cute. As she ran back upstairs she stumbled on some of the steps just thinking about him. Propping the door open again she sat at the island thinking. She then pulled out her phone and typed the words "How to make Beybread?"
After watching a few YouTube videos and reading bread recipes Amanda felt like she was ready.
"One cup of Sugar." She mumbled to herself.
And so it begins, Amanda's little crusade against the clock. Amanda rushed around the kitchen trying to find ingredients and measuring spoons.
Sugar.
Flour.
Salt.
It was a quest, and Amanda was determined. After gathering all of the ingredients she began mixing them together.
Not long after she began kneading the dough with her hands. She then grew lost in thought. Kneading the dough reminded her of art class. She could still faintly hear her teacher's voice beside her over her shoulder.
The dough reminded her of clay, if it got too sticky then add more flour. Except with clay if it got too dry you had to add a touch of water. Oh how she missed the days she had spent in that classroom. It felt like her teacher was her only friend sometimes.
The roared TV snapped Amanda out of her thoughts. Sitting on the leather couch a few feet away was Amanda's younger brother: Carson. Grinning on the couch, with both remotes in each hand his eyes were glued to the television.
Amanda sighed to herself and rolled her eyes. Eventually her brother came over, sat down at the island, watching her. The whole situation annoyed Amanda until he asked:
"So Amanda, whatcha doing?"
"Baking bread? Why?"
"Oh no reason."
When Amanda wasn't looking he stuck out his finger on the area of the flour on the island and licked his finger. When Amanda turned back around Carson gave her a mischievous grin as if nothing had happened.
Giving him a suspicious look she looked around the kitchen making sure nothing was out of place. Then something caught her eye. Where she had been kneading bread earlier was a single finger sized swipe.
"Carson get out of the kitchen!"
"What! I didn't do anything ?" He said casually.
"Don't you have Buff Swords to watch or something?"Amanda asked with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Oh yeah that's right, they're having the season finale tonight!!!!"
Carson ran over to the TV almost as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog. If Amanda was going to be thankful for anything this Thanksgiving it would be for the TV distracting her brother.
"Besides, BuffBlades is better than Pokémon any day of the week."
Amanda rolled her eyes and re-focused back onto what she was doing. Little did her brother know but baking and cooking had been Amanda's true talent.
Sometimes when the servants had been busy with their own problems Amanda had stepped in to make dinner. Baking and cooking had always been Amanda's sanctuary or secret garden. It had always helped her relax.
When she was done letting the bread cool she began creating little balls of dough and adding little details like the dragons. As she began to finish up the little balls. Her brother trudged over to the kitchen and sat down at the island.
"Alright the baker is out and the doctor is in. What happened?"
"Okay so Lane and his legendary sword trudged up the volcano to face his arch enemy Haniko...."
As Amanda cut the bread she semi listened to her brother. Hearing words like "he slashed his sword and it was so epic." Or "And it turned out Lane was the villain all along."
Finally when she was all done cutting the bread she put the tray into the oven and set the timer.
"So then at the end of the season Lane was defeated and Haniko upgraded his sword! It was so cool there were flashes of white and red. Oooo can you draw a buff sword for me."
Carson gave Amanda his cutests pouty eyed look he could make. Amanda looked over at the timer making sure she had plenty of time.
Running upstairs she grabbed paper and a pencil. On the TV her brother had paused it just at the right moment to see Haniko's sword floating in the air. As she drew Amanda kept wondering to herself why her brother thought she was an artist. Sure she had won a contest once for drawing a fantasy world. But that was one time, what made him think she was capable this time?

Somehow she had managed to get a decent rough drawing done of the sword. Before the timer went off when she was done she slid the paper over to her brother and tended to the bread. Her brother looked down at the paper staring in awe.
"Thanks! Amanda!" He ran upstairs and came back down a few seconds later with some crayons.
After the bread cooled down she added details to the bread. When she was all done she was feeling satisfied with her work.
"What's that wonderful smell?"
Standing behind her were Free and her father.
"Oh hey guys, after I saw Free battling I decided to make some BeyBread for Free when he gets hungry on his journey."
"Can I try some? Please?" Carson asked once again showing off his pouty face.
Amanda grabbed napkins and some bread for everyone. Carson was the first one to try Amanda's bread. And based upon how fast he had woofed it down she could tell he had enjoyed it.
"Does everyone like it?"
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.

After having dessert and packing up the bread for Free. Amanda, her dad, and Carson were standing outside saying their goodbyes to Free.
"Wow, I can't believe it! The former Beyblade Champion was in my house. I wish I could be that good someday."
Free chuckled, replied with a smile and a nuggie.
"Keep practicing and maybe one day you will."
"Wow! So cool." Carson said fangirling.
"Oh and Mr. Glass thanks for helping me today."
"Of course Free, feel free to stop by anytime. Just as long as you give us a heads up."
"I probably won't do that but sure."
Mr. Glass chuckled a little bit and not long after Amanda and Carson joined in as well.
"Oh and Amanda,"
Free looked straight into her eyes and for a split second. Amanda started feeling hot and her cheeks flushed pink.
"Thanks for being an inspiration."
And with that Free turned around and started walking off. Mr. Glass closed the door, the house suddenly felt quiet despite the fact that the TV was still on.
"I think I'm going to miss him." Carson said quietly.
Amanda stood there thinking for a few moments. Until she clenched her fists and ran outside. She had no clue what was going through her head but what she did know was that she needed to find Free.
