Ep 3: New Move! Geist Dive!
Amanda's dad slowly walked down the stairs making sure he didn't slip. Meanwhile a curious Free and a mad Amanda followed. Amanda who had been crossing her arms the whole time had been mumbling things to herself like "He's never this nice to me." Or "Why is he acting so different?" The deeper they went the quieter it became. The mood intensified once they reached the bottom. Amanda almost expected something to jump out and scare her.
"Where did Free go?" Her dad asked
Amanda looked around the dark space but found nothing. All of a sudden the lights turned on and Free was standing by the light switch.
"Found it." He said boredly.
"Great work Free," Her dad replied.
Once he got down to the bottom of the stairs he started running around rummaging through boxes left and right. Meanwhile Amanda had been ordered by her dad to start moving boxes over in another part of the basement. While this was all happening Free had been leaning on the wall watching. As the search went on Amanda eventually said in a quiet voice.
"I'm sorry."
The rummaging stopped but he didn't turn around
"I'm sorry for slamming the door in your face this morning."
"No. Amanda," Her father stood up from what he was doing and he walked over to his daughter. But this time it was her turn not to look at him.
"I'm the one who should be sorry. I get it now that Beyblade just isn't your thing but that's okay. I'm sorry for trying to force it onto you. Whatever you decide to do in life I'll try to support you. I know this year has been hard considering your mom's.....disappearance. But I don't want to lose you over me being upset. I know I should have been there for you when you were younger considering how hard it was on you. The both of you used to be so close. I know I've been kind of grumpy to you lately but can you.."
Amanda whipped around and wrapped herself around her dad. There were no tears, no sobs, not even a sound. They just sat there hugging, wrapping themselves around each other. For a long time nobody said a word. After a while Amanda slowly uncoiled herself off her dad. She stepped back giving him some space. He got down onto one knee and whispered
"I'm sorry I don't say this often but I'm proud of you."
Slowly pulling back Amanda nodded her head and smiled. She got right back to what she was doing. Her dad stood up and smiled down at his daughter. Nodding his head back at her he started rummaging through boxes again.
Eventually, Amanda found a dusty stadium propped against the wall. It was your average stadium but it was very old. It even had the old white, red, and blue color scheme. She moved it to the floor in the middle of the room. As she moved it she noticed more stadiums behind it.
"What are these?" She asked
"Those old things? Ha! In my Free time I would tinker with stadiums sometimes experimenting with different materials."
"Is this a... trampoline?"
"Yup, that one was actually one the more successful experiments."
"Oh man this is super cool. I've seen plenty of battles but battles on this thing must be awesome!"
Her dad looked up from his work and smiled. Her cheeks flushed a light pink and she quickly mumbled
"Whatever."
The whole time they had been talking everybody forgot that Free was in the room watching their every move. The whole time he had been smiling but he hadn't said a single word.
After a while an assortment of items laid waste among the floor. Launchers, beys, and more were scattered everywhere.
"I found it!"
Amanda's father held up a small red circular object.
"We spent an hour and a half searching... for that?"
Her father walked over to Free asking him if he had his launcher. He attached the object onto the launcher. Free's hand moved a little.
"Now then prove to me that you are one of the best. Let's start with...1,000 launches."
Free did as he was told and began pulling the string. As he did so his veins popped a little on his arms here and there. Amanda's dad however was leaning on an old desk watching with a smile. As the two boys started training they left a very confused Amanda standing there.
Eventually she got bored and went back upstairs. Propping a rock on the door she went upstairs to relax.
******
By now it had begun to get late, the sky was turning a dark blue. After coloring for an hour or two. She went outside and sat down on a lounge chair staring up at the sky. Stars were barely peaking out from behind the clouds. For a long time she just sat there thinking about life. After a while it eventually got boring.
She decided to go back downstairs and check on the boys. The both of them were standing in the same spots. Except Free was covered in sweat and her dad had a smile standing across the stadium battling.
"Oh Amanda you're just in time. Look at the new move Free came up with." Her dad said while leaning over with a determined smile. Amanda was actually a little surprised to see her dad so happy. She leaned over the stadium to see what was happening. Her father's bey was white with hints of purple.
"Alright Grand Eagle use slash talon."
The side of her father's white bey lit up hitting Free's but to his dismay it had no damage.
"Fafnir, use Geist Dive!"
His bey hit the side of the stadium and leaped into the air. Spinning it balanced perfectly on top of Eagle but only for a split second. Because before they all knew it Eagle burst. Amanda suddenly realized why Free had asked her to show him spinning the ball on her finger. It wasn't because it was cool like most kids would think. Instead it had only inspired him. Smiling, Amanda ran back upstairs happily. She had just gotten a great idea.
A/N: Wow! I just wrote three chapters in one whole day. That's definitely a new record.
