Ep 25: Unexpected Intermission!

As much as Free wanted to learn more about the Snake Pit he also wanted to know what Shu was up too. He didn't really know why he followed him but something was up.

Since this was an unprecedented intermission the hallways were quiet this time of night. It almost reminded Free of a horror film or something.

Walking around the empty hallways his footsteps echoed creating the illusion of more people in the school. Usually when school was in session kids were walking around in the hallways. But now they gave off an eerie feeling.

Following his instincts and the distant sound of Shu's footsteps, Free made his way to the gym. Inside it was pitch black, the only light illuminated from the exit signs creating an eerie red glow.

Walking towards the light Free's curiosity grew. He could barely see at this point but Fafnir provided some light.

When Free got to the exit sign Shu's footsteps had stopped but Free knew he wasn't in the hallway. Focusing his thoughts on Fafnir everything went into a gray scale. But it still remains dark in the part of the building where Free was.

Looking around Free searched for any clues. Then he saw it, little did most bladers know but if they had a really strong resonance they left a trail of energy. So when someone powerful went missing or if you wanted to track someone you could. But not all bladers have this ability or they just didn't know about it.

Following the red trail of energy, Free went deeper down the hallway. Luckily went he reached the end there was a little bit more light from the windows.

Looking into the pool room Free only found the smell of chlorine and kept moving.

Passing the boys and girls locker rooms Free stopped at a door with a sign on it saying "Roof."

Opening the door it let out a loud creak.

Here we go

While Shu and Free were gone they decided to have another intermission since the guy playing Raul had messed up his lines and they needed to figure out a way to get back on the storyline.

Valt made his backstage ducking and dodging people. Making his way to a small group of actors in a circle was Fubuki, Suoh, Toko, and Nika talking.

"Hey Toko, you're doing a great job." Said Valt walking over.

"Thanks, Valt. I feel better hearing that coming from you. It's not easy being you, I've definitely learned that the hard way in this play."

After catching up with Toko Valt headed back to the Theatre. On his way there he noticed Lui leaning against the wall.

Just then interrupting Lui's sulking mood was a little boy wearing a big grin. Lui was taken aback by this.

"You have a good Lui Shirosagi costume but you need to work on the hair it needs to be more....fiery."

Lui's eyes widened and he stood up abruptly.

"I'll show you fiery!"

Lui chased the little boy around the hallway. While they did this Valt stood on the sidelines chuckling to himself.

"So what's up with you?" Free asked Shu sitting next to him.

They both sat down on the roof on the bench the bey club used to use.

The starry sky shone above them and the moon was bright, so bright it created shadows on the roof.

"It's the play, it's nice to Valt again but it's hard to face my past as Red Eye. This play just reminds me of my mistakes that I'd did as I was Red Eye."

"I know being Red Eye must've been hard on you but you can't keep going backwards you need to live life forewords."

"Thanks Free."

For a long time the two boys just sat there in silence watching the sky. Out in the distance was a big and beautiful city. It's lights brightened up the whole night.

"Do you know why it's called the present?"

"No, why?"

"The way I've heard it is yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift that's why they call it the present."

"You're just a walking fortune cookie today aren't you Free?" Shu asked giving Free a smirk.

"I guess so, but I think you've been more of a fortune cookie lately than me."

"What do you mean?"

"Fubuki and the Bulls. You've been spending a lot of time with them. More than I ever wanted to."

"Yeah I guess so, but remember what you also have Free. BC Sol. A loving family of bladers."

"You're right."

"And if you ever need anything you can always come to New York. As long as you give me a heads up."

"Well it looks like we're going to be spending time together anyways considering that Global tournament or whatever is starting."

"Oh you mean the The Bladers Global Gauntlet Tournament or B.I.G.G for short."

Free gave Shu a face.

"Yeah I know not my idea on the name although I'm just going to call it The Global Gauntlet for short."

After another weird pause of awkward silence the two boys went back to the gym. Walking in the darkness the silence was so tense you could cut it with a knife. Then as they started getting closer to the theatre it started to get brighter until they could see again.

Valt was watching Lui chase a kid wearing a costume of him. Free and Shu walked up together to Valt.

"Hey guys where did you go? You guys missed out on the Space Ninjas, Joshua, Raul, Xander and SB Rios. It was hilarious watching us be the Space Ninjas again."

Shu was about to say something when Free cut in.

"We just decided to get some fresh air, Shu was just showing me the old bey stadium on the roof."

"Well okay, just give me a heads up next time."

The boys silenced as they watched Lui and the kid running around. Even Shu cracked a smile and Free chuckled a little.

"Oh Free I almost forgot to ask how did you know about that upcoming tournament?" Shu asked.

"I heard something about it from Kris." Free said shrugging.

Shu didn't press on and Free was glad. Like he would ever admit he was doing something he wasn't.

"Well we better head back in there. Last I remember they were on the part about BC Sol going against the bulls." Valt said going inside.

Lui and Shu followed while Free took one last look outside. Enjoying the nighttime view he closed the theatre doors behind him.
