Description:
Algid isn't supposed to exist.
Him and his family live hidden in a cleverly carved glacier among thousands off the mainland shore. Carved, in fact, with animus magic, so careful that the entrance couldn't be seen without explicit knowledge that the place existed.
Algid and his ancestors had loved there for generations, venturing out only briefly to find their mates, and never breathing a word of their existence to anyone else.
Because they weren't in any of the circles. They'd been erased from them long ago.
After all, IceWing princes aren't supposed to have one-night stands. It might result in some...unintended consequences.
Now it's Algid's turn to find a mate, and he's unquestionably nervous.
Crystal is curious when she meets a shy dragon near the northern shore. He doesn't seem to recognize her, the kingdom's princess, and his name, Algid, can't be his real name. Because if it is, where is his name on the circles?
He seemed to be trying to court her, however, and Crystal finds herself slipping away to meet with him.
He's a mystery she needs to solve.
It helps that he's quite an attractive male, too.
Characters:
Algid: shy male who panics under pressure, is very kind and always tries to be helpful. Never uses his animus magic if he can help it, only to save the ones he loves. Naive.
Crystal: IceWing princess. Curious, protective, sneaky. Loyal to friends and crown, can cause stress if loyalties are at odds.
Rime: Algid's mother. Animus. Believes in fate. Has only used animus magic three times, all to protect the hideaway.
Clarity: Algid's younger sister. Innocent and curious. Inquisitive. No magic, but carries the gene. Adorable as heck.
Peak: Algid's father. No animus magic, is from the mainland. Madly in love with Rime. Supportive and a bit teasing. Acts like a younger dragon than he is.
Curio: more or less the head of the hideaway. Is the only one who uses magic. Uses a technique similar to Stonemover to prevent losing their soul. Uses their magic to keep the glacier from crumbling under stress, check dragnets for the animus gene, and assess animus levels. When they die, an enchantment automatically draws on all of the animus's powers until a successor steps forward. Gender up to you.
Kaleidoscope: IceWing queen. Supportive of her daughter but wary of strangers. Wants Crystal to be a "proper IceWing" but isn't mean about it.
Glaze: IceWing king. Stereotypical overprotective father. Treats Crystal like a young dragnet but really loves her anyway. Tells stories of when the royal family had animus powers.

Format:
Traditional novel format of about 1000+ words per chapter would probably work best here, but shorter chapters could work as well.
Other:
Could be told from either Algid or Crystal's POV or an alternating POV between them, though I would strongly advise to not have different POVs in the same chapter and not to label each chapter with the POV it's in. The reader will figure that out from context.
