Chapter 27: Skizz

*checks what chapters are coming next*

I am deeply sorry about what I'm about to do to your sanities-

By the end of Wednesday morning, there are 4 people in the medical ward.

Impulse pushed Grian, Scar almost choked Impulse to death, Cub tried to stop Scar from killing me and ended up badly bleeding and then I finally knocked Scar unconscious with more force than necessary, and probably gave him concussion, if not something worse.

I'm starting to understand why Impulse wanted to hide from everyone.

Mumbo stays by Grian's side all day. I watch him as I sit near Impulse, watching his chest rise and fall, running through everything that happened to see how I could've made it better. Others come and go with gifts and condolences. For Grian, Cub and Scar. Not Impulse. Never Impulse. Apparently even though people know they have magic, they still care. It improves my thoughts on telling more people that I have it too.

'Hey... Skizz?' I look over, surprised, as Tango enters the room, sitting next to me. 'How's Impulse doing?'

'Better than Grian. But not well.'

'I heard what happened. Some of it. Jimmy told me. And Scott filled in some details with other ones...' I sigh at his questioning tone.

'Scar got mad at Impulse, lost control... somehow, hurt Cub and then I might've shoved him against the wall to make him unconscious.'

'Overreaction... much...?'

'I was scared he was going to attack me. It was weird... it was like he'd transformed into some kind of... blue demon. His eyes were blue... hands like claws... wings...'

'Oh shoot...'

'You know what that is?' Despite my lack of confidence about a reply, Tango nods

'Complicated, and I probably can't explain without permission.'

'Alright...' My eyes wander back towards Impulse. 'Scar would've killed him before if I hadn't stepped in.'

'I don't blame him. After Impulse...'

'So you want him dead?' The blunt response makes Tango recoil and I instantly regret it.

'No, I just... Impulse has been a d*ck lately. And getting people killed.'

'He's... I don't think he's to blame. He's been forced into this, and now everyone's blaming him for stuff he couldn't really control.'

Tango doesn't reply, looking back to Impulse. One of the medical staff walks over, and I have to ask

'How's he doing? Is he alright?'

'He'll be fine, don't worry. The cuts aren't deep enough to be fatal.'

'How about Grian? And Cub and Scar?'

'Scar's fine, Cub'll need a few stitches and Grian... He'll need more time to recover. Took a big fall.'

'Alright.'

'Scar's going to be mortified when he realises...' Tango mutters as the medic begins to unwrap the bandages around Impulse's neck. Small, scabbed over scars cover it, red and clearly sore. Healing potion is placed over them, before it's recovered

'Ok, maybe Impulse isn't completely in the right.' I finally admit. 'But he didn't want to get involved with it.'

'I need to speak to him when he wakes up.' Decides Tango. I nod back. 'Don't be too harsh. He's... faced a lot.'

'I know...' My attention shifts, and, to my surprise, Xisuma enters, looking around. I can't see his face under the helmet he always wears. One of the staff walks over to him. I catch a bit of their conversation.

'...you don't tell anyone.'

'I won't? Why though?'

'Personal reasons.' He's looking at Grian as he speaks. It takes me too long to realise.

'He's not going to tell the Principal.'

'What?' Tango looks over at me, frowning.

'Xisuma's forcing the medical staff to keep Grian's wings a secret. And... maybe Scar's magic too.'

'That's great!'

'Yeah. Oh no... look who's woken up...' I follow Tango's gaze to where Scar's failing to sit up, regret rising.

'Where- where am I?' He frowns, in some kind of pain as he winces, or maybe he's just still concussed. 'What happened?'

'Should I go over?' I mutter. Tango shrugs.

'Why?'

'To explain. Before he sees.'

'Too late.' Scar stumbles to his feet, realising... something. I hear Grian's name mentioned. One of the medical staff runs over, trying to get him to lie down again. He pushes past them. Stops. There's a second as his eyes widen, he steps back. A small shake of his head, denial, mouthing the word no over and over again, trying and failing to get over what he's done.

'I need to do something.' I stand and cross the room, over to Scar's bed.

'What did I do?' There's a terrified slowness to his voice.

'You... got out of control.' One moment you were fine and then next...' He stumbles back, sitting down, shaking. I sit next to him. 'Are you alright?'

He shakes his head silently.

'Oh notch...'

'Try to breathe... in... and hold... and out.'

'I'm going to need you to lie back down. You're still concussed, and I don't want you hurting yourself any more.' One of the medics asks.

'Will he be alright?'

'Who?'

'Cub. Will he be alright?'

'As far as I know, yes. But he's sustained severe injuries. We're still figuring out how.'

'I just arrived and found the three of them there.' I lie before I'm even asked again what happened. 'No explanation at all.'

'We'll have to see when the other two wake up if they know anything... for now, you should go. Our patients need rest. Come on, Scar. Get back to bed.'

'No!'

'Scar, you need rest.'

'I hurt him, didn't I? I... Oh notch what have I done?'

'If you remember anything, you can tell us later. Don't worry.' Scar lets the medic lead him back into the bed. I stand up, signalling for Tango to follow.

'What's... the news?'

'Scar's realised, the staff don't know what's happened. How much do people know outside of here?'

'Not much. You're the only person with the full story.'

'I'm keeping it secret. No one... needs to know.'

'Not even Scar?'

'Definitely not.' I reply. 'I don't want to... to... hurt him like that.'

We leave the hospital room, walking back down the corridor. I missed building class, but I'm not complaining. Nothing would've happened, and I wanted to ensure Impy's survival.

A sudden commotion, and a race down the staircase to the younger class's rooms. Technoblade appears, in his pig mask and full outfit, hiding his evident panic. He's chased by a couple of guards.

Of course.

He's out of the front entrance in seconds flat, pushing open the double doors and charging through. They swing closed behind, but not before I see him scale the fence and disappear into the distance.

Hmmm...

*observes closely.*

*realises and gasps.*

It's a filler chapter!
