8. Stolen Cereal & Arguments

*Casey's P.O.V*

"Ph-Phil, I, uh, I didn't think you were supposed to be coming home until tomorrow."

"No, I came home today."

Dan and I had woken up to see Phil sat in the armchair, eating a bowl of cereal and staring at us, which admittedly was a little weird, but to be fair, it was probably pretty weird for Phil to come home and find me on the sofa, cuddled up to his best friend/roommate while we were both fast asleep. So, now Dan and I were left to explain ourselves.

"Look, Phil, whatever you think went on here last night, it didn't, we literally just fell asleep watching a movie." I spoke up for the first time that morning. Up until that point, I'd just been awkwardly perched on the couch, as red from embarrassment as Dan, if not redder.

"Guys, you don't have to hide it from me. I don't mind if something happened last night, in fact, I'm happy for you both. As long as you didn't actually do anything on the couch..."

"Phil! Stop talking!" Dan shrieked while I buried my face in my hands, wanting the ground to swallow me up. I don't think I've ever felt more embarrassed.

"Oh my god, I can't believe you just... Oh my god, Phil. Nothing even happened! Casey played Outlast with me for the gaming channel since you left me alone for a week and I didn't want to play it by myself. Then by the end, she didn't want to walk home, alone in the dark in case she got run down by a homicidal maniac with a baseball bat so I said she could spend the night and like she said, we just fell asleep watching a movie."

"Really?" Phil asked, his own pale face turning pink when we both nodded, "Oh, okay... This is embarrassing..."

"You got that right." Dan mumbled.

"I got it wrong... I'm sorry." Phil gave us the most awkward apology ever.

"Yeah, you better be f-"

"It's fine, Phil." I cut in before Dan could throttle his Northern roommate.

"It is?" They asked in unison. I think they were both expecting me to help Dan strangle Phil.

"Yeah, in fact, it's pretty funny when you think about it." I giggled.

"I guess so." Dan said with a chuckle as Phil let out a small laugh. I then pulled my phone out of my pocket and tried to turn it on, only to figure out that battery had died.

"Dammit." I grumbled.

"What's wrong?" Phil asked me.

"Phone's dead." I replied simply.

"Oh, you can use my charger if you like." Dan said, pointing to the iPhone charger that was plugged into the wall.

"Thanks." I smiled, plugging my phone in.

"Do you want some breakfast while you're waiting for it to charge?" Dan offered.

"Uh, sure." I grinned.

"Well, then, come right this way to see our menu." Phil said in a posh voice, gesturing to the door of the lounge. I giggled before following the two boys into the kitchen.

"Phil?" Dan asked abruptly.

"Yes, Dan?" Phil replied, knowing he was in trouble.

"What did you have for breakfast?"

"Um... Lucky Charms." He fibbed.

"See, I don't quite believe that. Do you, Casey?" Dan glanced at me.

"Don't drag me into this." I put my hands up with a giggle.

"Because if you had Lucky Charms, then why has my Crunchy Nut been left out?!" He pointed to the box of Crunchy Nut cereal that had, in fact, been left out on the side, most likely by Phil.

"Okay, okay, I may have had a small bowl..." Phil shrugged, trying to seem as innocent as possible.

"Small?! Phil, the box is half empty!" Dan cried, picking the box up before slamming it back down on the counter, almost spilling it's contents everywhere, "Right, no, I'm sorry. I'll deal with you later, Phil. We have a guest right now." He turned to me, where I was leaning against the counter, trying to hide the amused smile on my face, "What would you like for breakfast, Casey? We have toast with a variety of toppings, such as butter, Nutella, jam, marmalade, marmite... Or we have some Poptarts left in the flavours cookies & cream, strawberry or chocolate peanut butter... Or would you like some cereal? We've got Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops, Special K, Shreddies and half a box of Crunchy Nut. We would have an almost full box if someone hadn't been the worst roommate ever and eaten my cereal." Dan glared at Phil who just smiled sheepishly.

"Could I have Lucky Charms, please?" I laughed.

"Of course you can." Dan smiled. So, I had Lucky Charms, Dan had Fruit Loops and Phil didn't have anything as he'd already had breakfast, or stole Dan's breakfast as the brunette wouldn't shut up about. After breakfast, we all went back into the living room and I grabbed my phone since it had finished charging. I turned it on, only to find 32 text messages, 20 missed calls and 9 voicemails all from Joe. Oh, sh**, I forgot to call him last night, didn't I?

"Sh**." I muttered.

"What?" Dan asked, frowning in concern.

"I need to go. I forgot to tell Joe I was staying over so I think I might be in for it." I showed him and Phil my phone screen and their eyes widened when they saw the amount of things Joe had sent me. I quickly put on my shoes, threw on my jacket, thanked Dan for letting me spent the night and said goodbye to him and Phil before I was out the door and running to the bus stop.

Before I knew it, I was stood outside Joe and Caspar's door. I took a deep breath before I slowly opened the door. I walked in to find Joe sat at the dining table, his hair a dishevelled mess like he'd been running his fingers through it a lot and dark bags under his eyes like he hadn't slept at all, which only made me feel worse. As soon as he heard the door open, his head shot up and he jumped up from the chair he was sat in as soon as he saw it was me.

"Where the f*** have you been?!" He roared. He didn't even show any signs of relief that I was home safe, he just got straight to yelling at me, "I've been going out of my mind!"

"I know, I'm sorry, I-"

"I've been calling and texting you all night!"

"Look, just let me expl-"

"Why didn't you pick up, huh?! Did you just think it would be funny to let me go insane with worry?! Thinking you'd been kidnapped or killed or-"

"If you would just shut up for a minute and listen!" I finally shouted. Him shouting only angered me and the fact he wasn't even letting me explain myself pissed me off even more, "Me and Dan played Outlast for his and Phil's gaming channel and afterwards, I was too scared to walk home in the dark by myself so Dan let me stay the night. I was gonna call you and let you know but we fell asleep and then my battery died."

"Alright, now tell me what really happened."

"Excuse me?"

"Well, you and Dan are always flirting with each other and then you go over to his place while Phil's away and you don't come back until the next morning. You don't seriously expect me to believe that it was completely innocent, do you?"

"Yes, I do! I expect you to trust me!"

"Can I really trust you though?" He narrowed his eyes at me.

"Yes, you can, because unlike you, I don't hook up with people left, right and centre!" I might've gone a bit too far with that one but I didn't care in that moment, "I didn't move out of Mum and Dad's so I could still be treated like a little kid who can't be trusted and accused for things I didn't do!"

"Well, if you hate it here so much then leave!" Joe snarled at me.

"Fine, I will!" I didn't regret the words until they left my mouth. I half expected, half hoped that Joe would tell me he was sorry and that he didn't want me to leave, but when he stayed silent, I knew the answer and so I muttered, "I'll go pack my stuff then."

"Good." He snapped before storming into the kitchen. I stood there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened, before I turned and went own to my room to pack my things. By the time I'd finished packing everything I could fit into a suitcase and a couple of bags, the sun had gone down. I lugged all of my stuff upstairs to find the lounge/kitchen empty. I decided to just leave without waiting for Joe. I didn't have anything left to say to him anyway.

As I stepped out into the cold London night, it dawned on me. My own brother had just kicked me out and now I was left alone in London at almost 9 o'clock at night with no home. After crying on the doorstep of the apartment complex for a few minutes, I got up and headed for the only place I could think of.

~~~
"Casey?" Dan's face changed from surprised to concerned in a matter of seconds when I turned up on his doorstep in tears, carrying bags and a suitcase and soaking wet as it had started raining at some point during my journey to their place, "Oh my god, what's wrong? What's happened? Come in, you're freezing!" He wrapped an arm around me and guided me into the warm apartment.
"I-I'm sorry for just turning up like th-this, I-I didn't know wh-where else to go." I stuttered as Dan closed the door behind me. I couldn't work out whether it was my chattering teeth or the urge to cry that was making it hard for me to talk.
"You don't need to apologise, just tell me what's going on." Dan said, his voice soft and still full of concern.
"M-me and Joe, w-we had this huge fight b-bec-because he thought something happened between m-me and you last night b-but when I tried t-to tell him what really happened, he didn't believe me and he basically said he couldn't tr-trust me. It got pretty heated, i-it was probably our biggest fight we've e-ever had. I-I don't know if he kicked me out o-or if I left... Maybe a bit of both? But I know I don't want to live with someone who doesn't trust me... Es-especially when it's my own brother." Tears threatened to spill once again and Dan didn't say anything at first, he just pulled me into his warm embrace, despite the fact I was still soaked from the rain. I wrapped my arms around Dan's long torso, clutching onto his black Attack On Titan jumper as I silently cried into his chest.
"I'm so sorry, Casey. If I hadn't forced you to play Outlast with me..."
"Hey, this isn't your fault," I sniffled, pulling away from the hug to look up at him, "I actually ended up enjoying it in the end, even if I did almost crap myself on several occasions." I said with a teary laugh, making Dan chuckle as well.
"Well, you can still stay here for as long as you need."
"Oh, no, Dan, I can't..."
"If you have nowhere else to go, I'm not going to let you sleep on the streets, am I?"
"But what about Phil?"
"Phil won't be a problem. He'll love having you around 24/7... And so will I." Dan flashed me that adorable dimpled smile and I felt those familiar butterflies as I blushed at what he said.
"Thank you." I smiled back at him. I felt my voice crack but I held third set of tears back. I was tired of crying.
"No problem. Now, come on, let's get you dried off and warmed up. I'll even make you a hot chocolate." He winked and I smiled again as he helped me drag my luggage upstairs.
