10. Grocery Shopping

*Casey's P.O.V*

I was rudely awoken by the sound of loud, obnoxious banging coming from the apartment next door. It sounded like someone was hammering a nail into something. I picked up my phone and groaned when I saw it had only just gone 7. There wasn't much chance of me getting any more sleep so I got out of bed. I slipped my white dressing gown which said 'this girl loves sleep' on the back in black on over my Pink Panther pyjamas before taking the short staircase down to the second floor.

As I reached the bottom of the stairs, I stopped and thought; what can a girl do at 7 am when she's the only one awake in an apartment that's not even hers?

I know! I'll cook breakfast. I mean, Dan and Phil took me in when I had nowhere else to go and told me I could stay for as long as need be. The least I can do is whip them up a tasty breakfast, right?

I ventured into the kitchen and began searching for things to make. Much like last night, the cupboards and fridge were pretty much empty, the only difference was that there was now a slice of leftover pizza in the fridge. Luckily, I managed to find ingredients for pancakes so my idea wasn't completely scrapped. I got everything I needed out and started putting the ingredients together. Just as the first pancake was starting to take form, a pair of arms wrapped themselves around my waist, making me jump out of my skin. I then found blushing when I realised it was Dan.

"Good morning." His husky morning voice chirped in my ear.

"Daniel, don't do that! You scared the sh** out of me!" I exclaimed, spinning round to face him while his arms remained around me.

"Sorry." He giggled, "Anyway, what are you making? It smells good."

"Pancakes for you and Phil." I replied, turning back to the sizzling pan.

"You don't have to do that, love." He told me and my heart leaped when he called me love.

"Yes I do. You guys literally saved me from being homeless, this is the very least I could do." I replied.

"Well, at least let me help."

"Fine, you can get me some plates." I instructed as he let go of my waist.

"That's it? How can I showcase my incredible culinary skills when you give me a job that a monkey could do?"

"Culinary skills? Really, Dan? You probably can't even cook pasta without burning yourself." I teased.

Dan gasped in mock offence and put his hand over his heart, "I'll have you know I'm a great cook! Just ask anyone who's tasted my stir fry."

"Alright, fine, what do you want to do?" I laughed.

"Flip the pancakes?" He asked me with hopeful puppy dog eyes.

"What? No! That's the fun part, I want to do that bit!" I whined.

"Can't we do it together? Take it in turns?" He suggested.

"Fine." I huffed, "But I do actually need some plates so can you grab them for me, please?"

"Okay, as it's you." He winked and I giggled as he opened the plate cupboard.

Ten minutes and a few flip fails later, we'd made a delicious looking stack of pancakes. As I was placing the last pancake on top of the others, Dan turned the radio on and the familiar first few notes of Lego House by Ed Sheeran filled the room. Dan then took my hand and pulled me into the middle of the kitchen.

"What are you doing, you idiot?" I laughed as he placed his hands on my hips and began slow dancing with me.

"Oh, come on, this is romantic." He insisted, taking my hands and guiding them up to wrap around his neck. I laughed again and kept my arms there while his returned to my waist.

"Dancing in the middle of the kitchen covered in and smelling like pancake batter is romantic, is it?" I looked up at the tall brunet.

"It is in my book." He claimed.

"You're such a dork." I shook my head, smiling up at him fondly.

"But I'm your dork." He gave me a cheeky grin.

"Just when I thought you couldn't get any cheesier." I giggled and so did Dan, "But yes, I suppose you are." Dan's smile never faltered and with his dimples on full display, he leaned down to plant a soft but passionate kiss on my lips.

"You're blushing." Dan teased after pulling away.

"Am not." I mumbled, looking down to hide my red cheeks.

"Don't hide, it's cute." He chuckled, gently lifting my head, only making me blush even more.

"Come on, let's go wake Phil before the pancakes go cold." I said, hoping to change the subject before I turned into an actual tomato.

"No need." An all too familiar voice groggily piped up, probably having just gotten out of bed. Dan and I leaped apart and turned to see a smirking Phil stood in the doorway of the kitchen.

"Ph-Phil, how long have you been there?" Dan asked his flatmate, both of us blushing furiously.

"Long enough, dork." The torturous smirk on his face only strengthened. Oh god, that means he heard me call Dan my dork and he saw us kiss and ugh can the ground just swallow me up right about now?

"Look, Phil, w-we can explain." Dan stuttered.

"Explain what? I just walked in to find you two playing tonsil tennis-"

"Phil!" Dan groaned.

"Oh god." I laughed despite being monumentally embarrassed, turning to Dan and hiding my red face in his chest. What? Phil already saw us, there was no point in hiding it now.

"I'm just saying, it's not that hard to figure out what's going on."

"So you're not, like, mad or anything?" Dan asked as I lifted my head from his warm, t-shirt-clad chest.

"Why would I be mad? My two best friends have finally confessed their feelings for one another and are now in a happy relationship. I mean, Casey already knows how much I ship it."

"Oh my god, Phil, please do not use the term shipping when talking about me and Casey, or anyone for that matter." Dan facepalmed and I giggled.

"Just don't have, like, an ugly breakup and make everything awkward." Phil said.

"I don't think there's much chance of that happening." Dan promised, wrapping his lanky arm around my neck and smiling down at me fondly. I smiled back up at him, stretching my body so I was just about tall enough to give him a peck in the lips.

"And, Jesus, no PDA in front of me!" Phil shrieked, childishly covering his eyes. I laughed and so did Dan, rolling his eyes.

"Anyways," Dan began, removing his arm from around me, "As much as I've enjoyed... Whatever this has been, we are in desperate need of a food shop so how about we go today?"

"Grocery shopping with two of the tallest, lankiest, clumsiest idiots in London who will probably knock over every display stand in the store, what could go wrong?" I remarked sarcastically.

"You can always stay here if you're gonna be like that." Dan snapped at me playfully.

"Fine, I will." I turned and sassily walked towards the door, only for Dan to run after me and grab my waist before I could exit the kitchen.

"No, wait, I didn't mean that, I want you to come." He told me, his brown eyes big and puppy-dog-like.

"Okay, I will, but if you two embarrass me, I'm pretending not to know you losers." I giggled.

"Deal." He smirked, still holding me by the waist as he pulled me closer to him and quickly but sweetly kissed me on the lips.

"Can you not? I'm trying to eat here." Phil groaned with a mouthful of cereal.

"I'm going to get dressed." I laughed, shaking my head at Phil.

"Alright." Dan kissed my cheek, making me giggle as it went pink before I turned and left the kitchen. I jogged up to the office and shut the door behind me so I could get dressed in privacy. I rummaged through my things before pulling out a grey sweatshirt with autumn symbols all over like cute little umbrellas and leaves, a greenish turquoise tank top to wear underneath and pair of light denim skinny jeans. I slipped into my clothes before clasping my silver arrow necklace around my neck, throwing my hair into a messy ponytail as I couldn't be bothered to do anything else with it, applying some makeup and snapping my glittery starry night case onto my phone.

After a morning of not really doing much but goofing around, the three of us got ready to go shopping. I pulled on my khaki green, fleecy, hooded jacket, slipped on my classic Timberland boots and slung my black leather backpack over one shoulder before I met Dan and Phil down by the front door.

"Ready to go?" Dan asked me as I reached the bottom of the stairs, holding his hand out for me.

"Yep." I chirped and Dan grinned down at me, chuckling as I took his hand and laced our fingers together.

"Clearly I didn't think this shopping trip through very well," Phil complained as we left the apartment, "I'm just going to be third wheeling the whole time, aren't I?"

"Aw, Phil, I can hold your hand too, if you want." I giggled, reaching out to grab Phil's hand as we walked down the seemingly endless flight of stairs of the apartment complex.

"I don't think so, I'm the only one that gets to hold your hand." Dan pouted, letting go of my hand to wrap his arm around me, pulling me closer to him and away from Phil. Although he was clearly joking, I think I heard a tiny hint of actual jealousy in Dan's voice and I found myself blushing as I leaned into his side, his hand finding mine once again.

We ended up going to Sainsbury's for the shop and after getting a trolley, we went inside.

"Right, what are we getting first?" I asked as Phil pushed the trolley and Dan and I walked alongside him, our hands intertwined just like they were when we left the apartment.

"Milk and cheese." Phil stated, glancing at his phone where he'd jotted a shopping list down in his notes.

"To the dairy isle!" I screamed, extending my fist in a Superman stance.

"Casey, be quiet." Dan chuckled at my childish behaviour, "And you were worried about us embarrassing you."

"Hey!" I pouted, glaring up at my tall boyfriend.

"I'm joking, you're not embarrassing, you're adorable." He smiled, kissing my temple and causing my cheeks to burn.

"Guys, please, we're in a public place." Phil whined. I just laughed and rolled my eyes at him as we reached the dairy isle.

At least fifteen minutes later, we were almost done with the shop when Jason Derulo's song 'It Girl' came on and I gasped. I loved this song when in came out.

"I used to love this song!" I squealed, grabbing Dan's hand, "Dance with me, Daniel!"

"We're in the middle of a supermarket, Casey." Dan laughed.

"I don't care, I'm enjoying myself." I jumped around to the music, still holding onto Dan's hand.

"Tell them other girls, they can hit the exit, check please, 'cause I finally found the girl of my dreams..." I sang without a care in the world as Dan twirled me around, still laughing at me.

"Who's the dork now?" Dan smirked, pulling me into his chest and circling his arms around my waist.

"But I'm your dork." I mocked what he said this morning.

"Yes, yes you are." He grinned, pecking my lips. Suddenly, our phones buzzed and we checked both of them to see Phil had mentioned us on Twitter. We opened the app and saw he'd posted a video of us dancing only seconds ago, but luckily it ended before Dan pulled me towards him and kissed me. The video was only of me jumping around and singing and him twirling me around, so it didn't really give our relationship away.

"Really, Phil?" Dan looked up at his flatmate.

"What? You guys are cute, people knew that even before you started dating." Phil shrugged with a smirk.

"You're lucky it looks we're just dancing in a platonic way." Dan playfully growled.
