Chapter 4: Part II Doctor's prescription
Fran and (Y/n) were lying on the ground, it seemed as if they had blacked out from the crash. (Y/n) groans and opens her eyes. "Itward!?" Fran asked as her eyes shot open quickly. "Oww..." Fran said. "You okay, sis?" (Y/n) asked with slight concern. "Yeah... Kitty we are alive! We survived the crash!" Fran said. "Oh dear... yes! We are alive!" Mr. Midnight said. (Y/n) offers a hand and helps Fran up. "Hmmm... But Itward is gone!" She said. "But he brought us home! We are outside the town, girls! I can smell it!" Mr. Midnight said. "Are you sure, kitty?
...Are we already home?" Fran frowned. "What's the matter?" (Y/n) asked. "Yes. I thought you would be happier about it... What is it?" Mr. Midnight asked. "It's just that... I wonder where Itward is! I wish I could say goodbye." Fran said. "Maybe we can take the medicine to see him again?" (Y/n) asked. "Yes, (Y/n), but we took all the pills already, you see? The bottle is empty!" She showed her the empty bottle. "Anyway, let's go home! Maybe Itward will come to us, someday..." Fran said. "I'm sure he will. Besides, he said that he'll always be with us, remember?" (Y/n) asked, and Fran smiled a little. They walk down a street. "Oh my goodness! This is our street, sis, kitty! Haze Street!" Fran said.
"Yes, it is!" Mr. Midnight said. "And here we are. This looks much more gray than I remembered." Fran said. "Well... I hope Aunt Grace will be happy to see us..." Fran walks over to the door and knocks loudly. "...Aunt Grace, hello!?" She asked. "Maybe she's not at home, dear... Do you have the key to go inside?" Mr. Midnight asked. "No... I don't have it, kitty... but I know there's a hidden key somewhere! I just need to remember where!" Fran said. "Well let's find it!" (Y/n) said. She first looks under some flower pots, seeing insects under the first two, then a note under the third and (Y/n) picked it up.
"I found a note! It says: I took the key, signed Fran..." she read. "Fran!? That's me!" Fran took the note and read it. "But I haven't taken the key!..and I didn't write this note..." Fran said. "Really? That's a bit suspicious." (Y/n) said. Fran walked over to a window. "Come here, kitty! You must climb and go through the window! We couldn't find the key... It seems that I already took it!" She said. "You already took the key but you don't have it? That sounds very strange!" Mr. Midnight said. "Yes! It's very strange! I only found a note that I don't remember writing!" Fran said. "But now in order to get inside, kitty... you must climb and open the door for me." Fran said. "Argh! Alright then! Wish me luck!" He said. "You can do it, kitty! Be careful!" Fran said. Mr. Midnight climbs up a small tree and onto the roof, then leaps through one of the windows.
Fran goes to the door and knocks loudly again. "Mr. Midnight, do you hear me? Kitty? Open the door!" She shouted. Suddenly the doctor drives over. "Uh oh." (Y/n) said as she turns around to see him. "Fran? (Y/n)? I can't believe this! You are alive! Where were you?" He demanded. "Doctor Deern? We're fine... Please don't take us back to the asylum!" Fran begged. "I've been looking for you two a long time now! How did you escape?" He demanded again.
"We... escaped through the yellow door, sir." Fran admitted. "Hmm... But why are you outside the house?" He asked. "Well, I don't have the key but Mr. Midnight is inside now... He climbed and went through the window of the second floor, sir." Fran said. "Mr. Midnight? ...Isn't that your missing cat?" Doctor Deern asked. "Yes! But we found each other in the end! ...Sir? May I ask why are you here?" Fran asked. "I came to meet Miss Grace, I have something very important to tell her." Doctor Deern said. "I think she's not at home, sir." Fran said. "Well, it may be better this way. You'll both have to come with me then." Doctor Deern said.
"No! We won't leave our kitty again! Let's wait until he opens the door!" Fran shouted. "Fran... I don't believe your cat is inside the house. That's impossible!" Doctor Deern said. "I'm telling you the truth! He is inside! He will open the door in a minute!" Fran shouted. "Stop it Fran, face reality! Your cat is dead! You two must come with me now." (Y/n) now looked angry. "He's not dead! He's been with us this whole time!" (Y/n) shouted. "And I've seen him too! I think that's proof!" She shouted. "No it isn't. Because I'm sure you are just as crazy as she is." Doctor Deern said.
"We're NOT crazy!" (Y/n) shouted angrily, which scared Fran a little. "Oh really? Then why were you two in a mental asylum?" He asked, crossing his arms. (Y/n) was about to retort, but stopped. "I... we don't know, but I agree, we're not crazy." Fran said. Doctor Deern grabs their arms and yanks them into his car, then begins to drive off. The drive was quiet. "I'm sorry, girls... I don't want to hurt you or scare you." He said. "We're just worried about Mr. Midnight, sir. You made us leave him!" Fran said. "I'm sure he'll be alright, Fran." (Y/n) said. "...Is he really alive?" Doctor Deern asked. "Of course he is, sir! Why would we lie about it? This feels so wrong..." Fran said. "You know Fran? I was fired from the asylum, because I knew too much." He replied. (Y/n)'s eyes widened. "What?" She asked. "What do you mean?" "I have found things that I do not understand yet. I really thought you two were dead. Look at these documents..." he hands some to Fran,
FAMILY MURDER ON HAZE SI.
... the bodies were perfectly sliced..."
Martin and Lucia Row-Dagenhart were found carly this week brutally murdered in their residence on Haze St. The investigating police officer, Marco Hulma said. "It seems that the bodies were perfectly sliced which would cause a quick, instantaneous death. Also, there were no signs of a struggle in the house, so the victims must have been caught completely by surprise, and were unable to fight back." The police interrogated Grace Dagenhart, Lucia's twin sister. But the police didn't find any useful information. The youngest in the family, Fran and (Y/n) Bow, were found in the woods one day after their parents' murder. They froze to death.
Dear Gladys: Let the newspaper know about Fran and (Y/n) Bow.
They were found in the woods, frozen to death.
They ran away from home after finding about their parents'
murder.

Fran and (Y/n) are now free from all. We hope they reunite with their family in heaven.
"But... we are not dead, sir! This is all lies!" Fran shouted. "I see that! I also found out that your medicine was switched!" He said. "Switched?" (Y/n) asked in shock and disbelief. "Yes. You were given a new variant of Duotine. When I looked at it in the laboratory, the levels of ektoplomatin were too high. That can't be good! Ektoplomatin creates a door between the subconscious and conscious. The problem is, if the ektoplomatin is too high, the door will be too wide!
...And that can create a great confusion in your brain." Doctor Deern said. "A great confusion in my brain? ...I am a bit confused, yes. But that's because of all the new things that we can see and feel!" Fran said. "What do you mean, Fran?" Doctor Deern asked. "We can see the Ultrareality, sir! And also travel into other worlds!" Fran said. "Ultrareality? That must be the consequences of Duotine, nothing more." Doctor Deern said. "That is not true! If we had some more medicine, we could show you! (Y/n) has seen it too!" Fran protested. "You don't need that medicine anymore. Besides, it's all in your head, Fran." Doctor Deern said.
"All in my head you say?... Then maybe we are able to control it!" Fran said. "I mean, that you are imagining things. That's all." Doctor Deern said. The sky suddenly became red again, and he began to sway back and forth, and his eyes turned white. "...I tried to tell my mother the truth, but father would harm her as well. I don't want my father playing with his knife again... My arms hurt..." then everything went back to normal. "What the fu..." (Y/n) trailed off. "Oh, did your father harm you with his knife, doctor?" Fran asked. "What..? Who told you that?" He asked. "You did..." (Y/n) said. "...Or didn't you, sir?" Fran asked. "I... haven't said anything about it." Doctor Deern said.
"Oh my goodness! Then it's true!" Fran said. "Oh, please! Let's focus!" Doctor Deern said. "But you're not listening to me, sir!" Fran said. "We need to find out the truth!" Doctor Deern shouted. "I wonder who is behind all this... The nurses, Oswald?" (Y/n) asked. "Who knows?!" Doctor Deern asked. "We do know, sir... It's the big black monster, Remor. He took our parents and now he hunts me and my sister. He wants us dead! Oh! I wish we stayed in Ithersta, with Palontras and the Great Wizard..." Fran shouted. "What are you talking about? Please Fran, I'm serious." Doctor Deern said. "We never said goodbye to Itward or Palontras... and my kitty is all alone." Fran continued. "Palontras? Itward? Please, Fran..." Doctor Deern said.
"Palontras is the doctor of Ithersta! He is a flying creature, very fluffy, sir. And Itward is my faithful friend. He brought me home with his machine." Fran said. "It seems you have been living inside a fairy tale..." Doctor Deern said. "But I have seen all of this..." (Y/n) trailed off as Doctor Deern gave her a look. "Too..." "It wasn't good all the time, sir. The twins are gone because of me. I saw myself killing Mr. Midnight and I saw Mother and Father too." Fran said. "The twins? ...What twins? You and your sister?" Doctor Deern asked. "No, the girls that were attached to each other!" Fran said. "Attached, you say? That reminds me of the Clara and Mia case..." Doctor Deern said. (Y/n) looked shocked.
"What did you just say?" She asked. "Two girls in the asylum that claimed to see a creature named Edward or something. "Edward? I think you are misunderstanding, sir. It's Itward!" Fran said. "What happened to these girls?" (Y/n) asked curiously. "Dr. Oswald was experimenting on them. He sewed them together. Mostly to see the reactions of the DNA but nothing happened." (Y/n) looked horrified, and even gagged a little. "Are you serious? That is messed up!" (Y/n) shouted angrily. "A few months later, they died and their bodies were thrown into a well." Doctor Deern said. "Now I actually feel bad for them." (Y/n) said. "That is awful, sir! You can't take us back to the asylum!" Fran panicked.
"Yeah, we don't want to be experimented on and thrown into wells too!" (Y/n) shouted. "Don't worry, I won't. I brought you with me, so you can help me." He said. "Help you?"
(Y/n) asked in confusion. "Maybe we can find something that will lead us to those responsible for all this disgrace." Doctor Deern said. "Thank you, doctor... Maybe Palontras was right about you. You are not a bad doctor, you're just an old man following the rules." Fran said. "Following the rules? ...Well, not tonight." He arrives at a cemetery and parks his car. "Here we are..." he said, once they were out of the car. "But uh, sir? This is a cemetery." (Y/n) said. "I know. Come on, follow me." He said. The sisters share a glance, then follow him to a certain gave. "This is your parents' resting place...
and also yours." Doctor Deern said. "Why on earth would you bring us to our own grave?!" (Y/n) asked angrily. "I'm sorry, (Y/n)... But things are how they are, your parents were killed. Knowing who killed them can help us make things right!" "What do you mean by "right", sir?" Fran asked. "I think he means, if we can find the guilty ones, we will have justice!" (Y/n) said. "Exactly. Use the law to punish such behaviors and prevent others from being harmed." Doctor Deern said. "I understand, sir... And for what did you need our help?" Fran asked. "To find clues and evidence! We need to open the coffins." Doctor Deern said. "Absolutely not!" (Y/n) snapped, glaring at him. "What makes you think that it's okay to open a grave to a child's dead parents in front of them? That's sick!" She shouted furiously. "I understand your concerns, but-"
"but nothing! We will not be doing this, sir." (Y/n) said. "At least, Fran won't. Maybe..." she sighs. "I can." "Maybe the Deadleeworms came already!" Fran said. "Who..? Mmm. Anyway, we have to find shovels to dig!" Doctor Deern said. "I'll go left, and you can go right, (Y/n)." Doctor Deern said. "Okay." She nodded. "I'll see you in a few minutes, right here. Alright?" Doctor Deern asked. "Yes, Dr. Deern. We'll see you soon." Fran waves. "How exactly am I supposed to dig up the grave?" (Y/n) asked. "Fran?" (Y/n) asked, looking around wildly once she realized she was gone.
She walked further down, and saw Fran by a wooden door. "Fran!" She ran up to her. She turned around in surprise, then back to the door and tried to open it, suddenly a creature popped its head out. "Shhh! You have to keep it down, Fabio!" He scolded. "Oh! But I'm not Fabio... I'm Fran! Hello, little pinecone!" Fran said. He fully stepped out. "Ugh, he looks more like a gremlin." (Y/n) said. "What? Oh my goodness! Giants!" The creature said. "Oh, please! Don't be scared! We won't harm you..." Fran said. "...I thought no giants could see us!" He said. "I think I can see you because I have very big eyes, you see?"
Fran asked, and (Y/n) chuckled a little. "...Ah! I see! I'm Sebastian, by the way. The tribe's collector!" Sebastian said. "The tribe's collector? That sounds exciting!" Fran said. "Right now, we are trying to find some shiny leather!" Sebastian said. "We need it for the mating ritual!" Sebastian said. "Oh, That's quite interesting! Shiny leather... Hmmm." Fran said. "Yes. Last year we used old human skin but the Deadleeworms wanted it back. So we are looking for something more... synthetic!" Sebastian said. "Well... I hope you can find the leather!" Fran said. "Ehm... Sebastian? Would you do us a favor?" (Y/n) asked. "It depends on the favor, giant miss." He said.
"I was thinking that you could open the door for us, from the inside." (Y/n) said. "I could do that! But... we can help each other instead!" Sebastian said. "With what?" (Y/n) asked. "Bring me a piece of leather and I'll open the door. Alright, giant miss?" He asked. "But where will we ever find that? Huh! Alright. I'll see what we can do..." Fran said. Fran then takes out a piece of leather from her purse and handed it to him. 'Where did she get that?' (Y/n) wondered. "Wow! Thank you, giant miss! Our tribe, the Pinezeelous, will be happy! And now, I'll open the door. Just a second!" He goes back inside and swings the door open, falling on his back afterwards and Fran winced.
"Ouch! Are you alright, Sebastian...?" She asked. "Sebastian..?" She asked, and his eyes opened and he stood up. "I'm... I'm alright, miss. Yes!" He said. "Good! Well... Thank you! You opened the door!" Fran said. "You're welcome, giant miss! Eh, Fabio...?!" Sebastian asked. "..Oh! I have to go, miss! Good night! Hey Fabio, wait for me! I have the leather!" He shouted, running after his friend. They walk back to see Doctor Deern with three shovels. "There you are! Look, I found us some shovels... Let's dig!" He said. "Stay back, Fran. And don't look." (Y/n) said, and she nodded and stepped back, looking at the ground as (Y/n) digs up the graves.
"Well... Now, we'll have to come up with something to open the coffins." Doctor Deern said. "They're stuck! I had a crowbar in my car, just in case... but I couldn't find it." He said. "Oh! I took the crowbar, sir. I needed it to open a door. Do you want it back?" Fran asked. "No need, Fran... But, (Y/n), can do the honors of opening the coffins?" Doctor Deern asked. She look at Fran for a moment. "Alright, sir... I'll open them." Fran hands the crowbar to (Y/n), and she opens the first two, then she hands it to Doctor Deern who opens the last one. The first one had a skeleton of a cat inside, the second their mother, and the last one had their father inside. "Did you see anything that could bring us closer to the killer?" Doctor Deern asked.
"No, sir. I just feel really bad doing this." (Y/n) said. "Can you take us back home now, please?" Fran asked. "Alright, Fran... I'll take you back home. I'll take care of this later... I still need to find some clues..." he said. "Thank you, sir." Fran said. (Y/n) looked surprised. "Wait, you'll actually take us home?" She asked. "Yes, let's go..." he said, they exit the graveyard and just as they did, the giant honored monster came back and grabbed Doctor Deern, lifting him up. Fran and (Y/n) looked terrified. Doctor Deern suddenly vanished into thin air, and (Y/n) gasped. "Vanished into the hands of darkness..." the monster said. "You have no manners! We're not afraid of you anymore!" Fran shouted angrily. "I've taken away from you, the light... The one you love, the one you respect... And the one you desire to love you. Now all that's left, is to take away your sister." He said. "No! I won't let you hurt her!" The monster then grabs them and lifts them up, and they faint.
You broken little girls... The house of madness invites you inside. If you want to find those you love... ..in darkness you must wake up. Wake up now, Fran and (Y/n). Wake up!
