Chapter 1: Our sober day
"Hey! Hey! Wake up!" An annoyed voice said. (Y/n)'s eyes shot open in surprise and she quickly looked around. "Huh? What?" She asked as she looked around, then saw Fran standing near her bed with crossed arms. "Geez, took you long enough, sleeping beauty." (Y/n) rolled her eyes. "So now what?" Fran asked. (Y/n) walked over to the window and the curtains fell, surprising her. "Oh! Holy moly! Something fell!" Fran looked at her. "Holy moly? When did you start speaking like that? Maybe there is something wrong with you." She said. "Uh..." (Y/n) blushed slightly out of embarrassment, then walked over to the clipboard on their wall.

Dr. Marcel Deern has tried different medications and all have been cancelled because of side effects.
"I'd refrain from touching that. Don't want that to break too." Fran said. (Y/n) turned to her. "Are you saying I break everything I touch?!" She asked. Fran smirked. "Pretty much." (Y/n) and Fran walked into the next room where the nurse is writing something down on a desk. "Oh, (Y/n), Fran. You're awake! Good." She said. "How long were we asleep?" Fran asked. "Three days, maybe..." the nurse said. "Three days?!" (Y/n) and Fran panicked.
"...Oh, I forgot! Something happened." (Y/n) said. "See? You two are nothing but trouble! What is it?" The nurse asked. "I was trying to look outside and I accidentally broke the curtains..." (Y/n) admitted. "Pft, accidentally..." the nurse scoffed. "I have to fix this, follow me!" The nurse said. The nurse got up from her chair and walked into their room. "Something is missing... Have you seen the hook that holds the curtains up?" The nurse asked. "No, miss... we haven't seen anything." Fran said. "Well, I have to go and find something to fix this! You little girls...." The nurse said before walking away. (Y/n) walked into the room she was in before and picked up a piece of paper.
The two walked out, then walked into the room they were in earlier, seeing their doctor arguing with their aunt. "No, absolutely not! You can't tell them that!" He shouted. "But they have to know! You can't keep me away from them!" Grace shouted. "The reason is more than clear, Grace!" Doctor Deern shouted. "No, it's not! I want to take them home, now!" Grace shouted. "You can't. Their mental condition is not appropriate yet!" Doctor Deern shouted.
"Aunt Grace... I bet she misses us. We miss her too." Fran said softly. They walked into another room, where they see a little boy sitting on a bed, kicking his legs back and forth as he stared at the floor. "Hello, Phil!" Fran greeted, doing a little curtsy with her dress. "Hello..." Phil said, not bothering to look at her, keeping his gaze on the black and white floor. "How are you?" (Y/n) asked. "Everybody says that I'm sick." Phill said. "They always say that! They are just stupid!" Fran said, as she looked at the floor. "Are you leaving tonight?" Phill asked. "We will, if you help us!" Fran said. "The only thing I know is that the office is the key!" Phill said. "What do you mean by that?" (Y/n) asked. "Is there a key inside the office?" Fran asked.
"I saw the doctor write a secret code!" Phil said. "A secret code? To open the yellow door?" Fran asked. "He doesn't want me to tell you..." Phil said. "Who?" (Y/n) asked. "Him..." Phil said, before opening a portal with his right hand, where the demon that Fran saw at her window came out. Fran and (Y/n) quickly backed away. "All doors are closed. You two are prisoners of my games... ...and nobody will help you escape..." he taunted before leaving. "Leave us alone... I hate you!" Fran cried, putting her face in her hands, and (Y/n) put a hand on her shoulder to comfort her. 'Mommy... Daddy... we need you so much right now...No! I won't let that monster stop me!' Fran thought. She looked at Phil's clipboard.

Fran used the key to unlock the drawer in her room. 'Yes! Yes! I got it! And there is something inside.' She combined her needle with her hair clip. "Oh! Fantastic! My very own special key." She said. Fran and (Y/n) saw a small photo of them with their family. They walked out of their room and into Phil's, then Fran her key to unlock the door. "Yes! To happiness!" She said, and (Y/n) chuckled a little. They walk into a hallway with a white and black floor. They took out a small bottle of red pills, then take a pill from and swallow it, and everything around them changed instantly, blood was splattered on the walls, and drawn in blood are dissembled body parts, with words beneath saying
"Daddy was not there, Mommy would not care." They gasped as they also see a skeleton diving into some kind of portal in the floor, but disappearing as quickly as they saw him.
Fran and (Y/n) looked at the mirror in the room. "Somebody wrote something here..." she said. "Interesting..." something else caught their attention and they turn around, seeing a black cat riding back and forth on a one wheeled bicycle. "You're my beloved friends. Bip, bip! Brrm!" He said. Fran and (Y/n) walked into the next room, and they followed, then saw a scary ghost creature beside a dead little girl. Once the pill wore off, the ghost creature was gone, and they see a little girl using a red crayon,
rapidly drawing scribbles on the floor. Fran and (Y/n) walked over. "Hello!" (Y/n) said. "You see them! You do, right? The girl asked. "See what? Dead people?" (Y/n) asked, and Fran scoffed. "Very funny." She said. "The creatures that follow everyone!" The girl said. "You mean the shadows?" Fran asked. "Uh-huh. I can't see them, but I know they are there..." the girl said. "Do you know what they are?" (Y/n) asked. "Yeah, I guess..." the girl said. "Well... Tell us, please!" Fran said. "You like to draw? I love to draw!" The girl said.
"Yes! I love it too! But tell us more about the shadows!" Fran persisted. "Crayon! A crayon! I want to find a crayon! I draw all the time!" (Y/n) face palmed. "What are you drawing?" Fran asked. "Something!" The girl said. "What is it?" (Y/n) asked. "My dreams! Go now!" The girl said. Fran reached out to take a crayon. "That's mine! My crayons!" The girl shouted. "I just like this green crayon so much! Can I have it?" Fran asked. "No! I won't be able to draw green then. That's ridiculous!" The girl said. "That's only one color you won't have. You have so many of them." (Y/n) said. "Yes, many colors! But you know, they don't like me drawing!" The girl said.
"Who?" Fran asked. "The nurses! They tie me up! And when I want to draw, I can't!" The girl said. "They do?" (Y/n) asked. "Yes, they tie me up sometimes too... It hurts." Fran said sadly. "When I can't draw, I hurt myself... Then comes the red milk! Look!" The girl showed Fran and (Y/n) her cut wrists. "Please, cure me! Yes? And stop the red milk!" The girl said. "We'll see what we can do!" (Y/n) then remembered that she had the band aids and used some for the girl. "Oh, thank you! You can have the crayon.
Now go, I have to draw!" The girl said. They walked out of the girl's room and back into the hall, and were about to go down the stairs but the nurse saw them and walked over. "Huh, there you two are. You should be in your rooms! The doors were closed." She said. "But you left it open..." Fran said. "I'm sure it was not open! I know, because I locked it." The nurse said. "How did I get out, then? It was open!" (Y/n) argued. "Hmm, don't try to trick me! Go inside your rooms and wait for the doctor!" The nurse yelled. They walked back to their room. When they walked out, the doctor was waiting.
"Did you break out from your rooms? That's not nice!" He scolded. "But we're hungry, sir! We haven't eaten in days!" Fran argued. "I won't listen to any of your excuses, young lady!" Dr. Deern said. "Sir doctor! Please, just let us go out and eat something!" (Y/n) begged. "You have to learn how to listen to those in charge!" Dr. Deern said. "Of course, sir! Lesson learnt!" (Y/n) said innocently. "Just don't do it again, girls. Go and eat now. Then get back to bed!" Dr. Deern said. "Yes, sir." (Y/n) said, trying to sound serious, but was struggling and Fran snickered. He then left the room. They left and entered a room with a man by himself sitting at a table. Fran turned to look at the man who glared at her. "Hey! What are you looking at?" He snapped. "Nothing, I think..." Fran said. "So, you're able to think! You should think about getting the hell out of here!" He shouted. "I go wherever I want!" Fran snapped.
"Go where? To your mommy and daddy? Get lost!" The man shouted. "Hey! What's your problem?" (Y/n) asked. "That goes for you too kid, beat it!" The man shouted. Once they walked into the next room, they saw a little girl just shaking and staring at the floor. Fran and (Y/n) walked over to her. "Hello, are you alright?" (Y/n) asked. "What is that supposed to mean?" The girl asked. "She just wanted to know if you feel okay!" Fran said worriedly. "I don't want to tell! The doctor will cut your head open if you don't leave." The girl said. "He likes to eat brains.
He already took mine, he ate all of my thoughts!" The girl continued. "Wait, what?" (Y/n) asked in surprise. "He ate your brain?" Fran asked in shock. "He will eat yours too! I saw you two inside the doctor's office. You were dead!" The girl said. "Oh no! Then we have to go! I hope you find new thoughts. Bye." Fran said. They walk into another room with two children. A little girl sleeping on a char, and a little boy looking at the tv screen. Fran and (Y/n) walked over to the little boy. "Hello, what are you doing?" Fran asked. "It doesn't work! The paper is not working!" The boy said. "What do you mean?" (Y/n) asked. "The paper should be working like they told me!" He replied. "But what does the paper have to do?" (Y/n) asked curiously.
"I need the paper to show me what's on the television!" The boy said. "Oh, I see, but why isn't it working?" Fran asked. "The waves must be powerful! Change the channel, please!" The boy said. Fran walked over to a coatrack and picked up a pink stash. 'This pink sash is mine now!' She said to herself. She walked over to the tv to help the boy. She changed the channel multiple times, with them showing a happy bouncing cupcake, a news channel, and an ant channel, until it landed on a blurry channel with nothing but static. The boy then puts the paper on the tv.
"It works, it works! A miracle! Thank you! Papervision positive!" He said. "Great! Can I see?" Fran asked hopefully. "No! This is mine! If you want, you can take the papers that didn't work." The boy answered. "Oh, thank you... I suppose I can use the paper to write or draw on..." Fran said. "I'm busy! Papervision revision in action!" He said. Fran picked up one of the pieces of paper for safekeeping. 'Well... Now I can write or draw when I'm bored.' She thought. Fran and (Y/n) walked over to the girl sleeping on the chair. "Isabelle!" (Y/n) said. They waited for a moment. "She won't wake up!" They left the room and walked into the kitchen. They saw a nurse sitting on a chair and a young child on the floor with a bowl of soup.
On the counter they saw a pot of noodles, a bowl of pees, and a glass of lemonade. They also saw what looked like cinnamon buns and some plates to serve themselves with. Next to them stood a small table with cake slices and coffee. Fran walked up to the nurse and waved. "Hello." She greeted. "Oh hello, Fran! How are you today?" The nurse asked. "I see dead animals, miss." She replied casually. (Y/n) tried to hold in her laugh."You mean in the television?" The nurse asked. "No... I mean for real... Just forget it." Fran said. "Very well, Fran. Go play with your friends now." The nurse said. Fran walked over to the table and picked up a cinnamon bun.
"Mmm! I can see the cinnamon bun melting in my mouth!" She said. (Y/n) walked over to the table and got one for herself. Fran and (Y/n) walked over to the kid. "Hello! Are you new here? I haven't seen you before." She said. "No..." they said. "Are you from downstairs?" (Y/n) asked. "Uh-huh, they think I'm better now." They replied. "What's your name?" Fran asked. "...Could you please kill me? Please!" They begged. "Um, I have to go. Bye!" Fran said quickly. They walked into the next room to see a boy with blonde hair eating by himself at a table. A girl wearing a yellow gown walked by. They walked over to the boy's walking stick and Fran was about to touch it. "Don't touch my sword!" He shouted. "Sword?" (Y/n) asked.
"I didn't know it was yours." Fran said. "You should bow and speak clearly to me! I'm your king!" The boy said. "What? You are not the king!" Fran said as she crossed her arms. "I'm only the king of the whole universe. Bow to me!" He said. "Oh! We bow to you, sir!" (Y/n) said playfully and she bowed as Fran curtsied. "Very well, my children. What is the purpose of your visit?" The boy asked. "I want your walking cane." Fran said. "What walking cane? Do you mean my sword?" He asked. "Yes, Your Highness, your sword!" Fran said as she curtsied again. "What would you give me in exchange?"
The boy asked. "Anything you need, Your Highness." Fran said. "Bring me a castle and a horse! Only then will I grant you my sword." He said. Fran drew a castle and a horse with the crayon, then gave it to the boy, who smiled. "Oh, that's beautiful! Exactly what I dreamt of! You can take my sword now. It's yours!" He said. Fran walked over to his cane and put it in her purse. They walked back into the kitchen and over to the girl with the yellow gown and blonde hair. "Hey, Annie! How are you?" (Y/n) asked. "Aren't you afraid of me?" She asked. "No, why would we be?" Fran asked. "Because I can do magical tricks! And...... make you sleepy!" She claimed. "Make us sleepy? Like some kind of hypnosis or something?" (Y/n) asked curiously.
"Magical tricks? I didn't know you could! Show us!" Fran said with excitement. "Show you? But it's very scary! It's better if you do it!" Annie said. "I can't! I'm not a magician!" Fran said sadly. "I can give you the magical stuff!" Annie suggested. "Really? Wooh!" Fran said happily. "Yes, the magical stuff that will make anyone fall asleep!" Annie said. "Oh! That's amazing, powerful, and grand!" Fran said, and (Y/n) giggled. "Here, as a gift! Take it... slowly!" Annie said. Fran did as she said. "Alright. How does it work?" She asked. "I have no idea!" Annie said, she then gets off the couch and walks away.
(Y/n) combines her pill with her dessert. "Oh! This is a magical cake now! A sleepy cake!" She said. They walked back into the room with the man sitting in the chair and walked over to him. "We don't want any trouble, so we brought this cake for you." (Y/n) said. "I'm not interested in taking anything that comes from you..." the man snapped. "Please, take it! It will make your life a bit sweeter..." Fran begged. "I don't care about making my life sweeter. Now leave!" The man shouted. "So you don't want it?" (Y/n) asked. "No! Now leave me alone!" The man shouted. They walked back into the kitchen to see the nurse from before. "I told Marcel about the latest delivery, but he hasn't looked at it yet." She told the other nurse. "Well, he will catch up soon ...Hey Gladys,
would you do me a favor?" The other nurse asked. "Sure... Anything but bring the coffee to the guard..." she replied. "Why not? I can't do it because I have to take care of the children." She said. "I have other things to do myself... Sorry." Gladys said, then walks away. They walk over to the small table and (Y/n) takes the coffee. They walked back to the other room and over to the man, holding the small cup of coffee. "Here's your hot, hot, hot coffee, sir!" (Y/n) said. (Y/n) then roughly throws the hot coffee at him, which spills all over him. The man stood up quickly.
"Look what you did, you insane bitch! You did that on purpose! Now I have to go and change! Gah, it's burning like hell! Don't go anywhere, you little shit!" He shouted before he walked away while glaring at him. (Y/n) reached for the key and grabbed it. "Got it!" "Now we can unlock the office!" Fran said. They walked over to the green door. "The doctor's office! The code must be in here! Locked, how obvious! But this is our only way in!" (Y/n) used the key to unlock the door. They walked in and looked at some papers on a billboard. 'What a tiny text... Thoughts of Marcel Deern. Um!' Fran thought. She picked up a certain piece of paper from the board.

"Oh, the code! ...And some important information! Finally!" They walked to the other side of the room and (Y/n) grabbed another key. "It's always good to carry an extra key!" She said. Fran took one of the pills, and sees another monster eating what looked like body parts from the inside of their bodies as they saw their dead bodies on the green bed. "Oh...! Those dead girls look a bit like us." She said as she walked over to the skeleton version of herself. She walked over to the closed vent. "I don't really know what this is..." she said. Fran closed the lid and everything went back to normal. "Cool air comes out of it. Like the wind!" Fran said, referring to the vent. Fran walked over to the typewriter. "The yellow typewriter! I could write a letter to Aunt Grace! 'Dear Aunt Grace, take us out of here, please!" She said. As soon as they were about to leave the room, Phil entered. "Phil...?" (Y/n) asked. "Forgotten girls with no family, friends or cat, will die when the moon arrives." Phil said. "What do you mean?" (Y/n) asked. Phil left and locked them in. Fran and (Y/n) looked around fearfully, then walked over to the vent.
"I guess behind this, there's a hole... A wind hole!" Fran said. "I don't really know what this is..." she takes another pill, and gives one to (Y/n), and a hand suddenly opens the vent for them. "Well... I'm sedated and I see weird stuff. But I'm not dead..." Fran said as she looked around. They crawl inside the vent and began to crawl back. "Oh, the wind hole! I guess this is our way back! I wonder if Phil knew about this!" She said as she crawled through. As they crawled, a rat fell in front of her. The rat then got up and continued walking past them like nothing happened. "Oh! That rat really hit its head! I should give it a helmet!" Fran said. "I don't think there'd be one small enough for him." (Y/n) said.
"We'll just keep going and going!" Fran said as they continued to crawl through the vent. They suddenly fell down. "Ahhhhhhh!" They later woke up on the floor in a different room. 'Oh dear! Where are we now? I guess we'll have to find out!' Fran said. They take another pill and the room once again had bloodstains everywhere and skulls on the floor, along with bugs crawling or flying around the room. They walked over to some cleaning supplies on the floor or leaning on the walls. "Huh! Cleaning products! They should clean our toilets!" Fran said as she walked near a rack with cleaning supplies. She walked over to a box and removed a green cover from it, then opened it. "The box is open! Let me see..." she saw multiple jars with pills in them. "That bottle is empty. I guess they will put some pills in it." Fran picked up a piece of paper.

They walked into another room and (Y/n) tried to unlock the door. "It's locked..." (Y/n) used the key and unlocked the door, and it opened. They gasp as the scary monster from before comes through the door. "If you struggle, you will know that it was I... I will be in every corner to make you suffer and cry... If you choose to disobey, your sister and cat's lives will be marked." The horned monster left and closed the door and Fran fainted and (Y/n) fainted.
"Oh my dear kitty... We'll soon be together again, I promise!" Fran said as she hugged him. "I miss you, my dear... I miss you so much..." Mr. Midnight said. Her cat began to walk away, and Fran reached out a hand toward him. "Why are you leaving? Please don't leave us alone, Mr. Midnight!" She begged. She saw their cat walk into a maze. "At the end of the maze, Fran." He said before he disappeared. Fran woke up. "Are you okay?" (Y/n) asked worriedly once Fran woke up. "We fainted again! I wonder if our dreams are true..." she said, as she stood up. "The monster won't let me us go home! But if we find the maze, maybe we can find Mr. Midnight!" Fran said.
Once they take another pill, the room has bloodstains on the walls, and they see a horse like creature with a clown face at the end, and a ghost child sitting in front of it. "Hey, there's some kind of writing here." (Y/n) said as she looked at the mirror. (Y/n) and Fran take a look. "It says "ITWARD"... I don't know what that means!" Fran said. They walked into another room where a nurse is on the phone. "Yes, I took the new one upstairs... Fran and (Y/n) Bow? No, I haven't seen them. What? The key to the cellar? Well, no... And the doctor's office? He used to have the key there. Calm down! The key is not here! Sure, I'll let you know if it turns up, but you must calm down! Yes, I'll bring it to you if I find it, alright? Bye." After another pill, they see "At the end of The Maze" written in blood on the window, along with a cat face drawn, and a skeleton. (Y/n) walked over and hung the key. The room goes back to normal. "Oh, the key was here after all. I better take it back." The nurse took the key and left the room.
Fran entered a passcode on the wall, then they walked into another room and out the door to the hospital. Once they walked out, they began to hear loud sirens. The man from before came back. "You bitch! I will make you pay for what you did!" He shouted at (Y/n). Fran glared at him, but before she can do anything, the man's head suddenly pops off and he collapses. The horned demon comes through the door, scaring them. "You clever little girls... Do you think you can just leave?" He grabbed them and they faint, then he looked back. "...What? It can't be! No..!" He quickly goes back in the hospital,
and the cat from before came out and rode past them before they wake up. "We need to get to the maze!" Fran said. They follow the cat into the maze, and (Y/n) followed Fran as she followed Mr. Midnight. "At the end of the maze you will find..." creatures suddenly appear around the two. "...the evil critters of the night. They will hunt you, they will laugh..." Fran fell to her knees and cried as (Y/n) protected her. "But there will be always a good side." Fran noticed the cat and they followed him to a pipe. "A cat full of nuts and bolts... ...will always be your guide." Fran accidentally dropped their family portrait, and tried to reach it, but then with a look of determination, she and (Y/n) crawl through the pipe.
