SCORPIUS
Scorpius walked fast as he passed Rose Weasley.
He had just finished my Charms lesson, and he knew she had Charms right after me. Scorpius had been trying to think of avoidance tactics all morning, because, hey, when Rose Weasley got angry, everybody knew.
And everybody knew to take cover and pity the poor soul who was the subject of her anger and wish them luck.
Scorpius wasn't lucky that day, however. Rose spotted him just as he brushed past her.
Her entire face went bright red and then the palest white. She strode after him, her shoes clicking menacingly on the floor.
Scorpius tried to resist the urge to run.

He passed an empty classroom door when Rose caught up to him. She shoved him against the wall, drawing her wand from somewhere inside her robes and pointing it threateningly at him, then shoving him inside the classroom.
Desks stood abandoned. Dust glinted golden in the air, and there was a tattered copy of a Transfiguration textbook on the desk. Scorpius took this all in in a single glance, checking for exits (there were none unless he wanted to dive through a window, possibly killing himself). Then he turned back to look at Rose.
She was barely five two, but she looked so much taller when Scorpius looked at her. She was practically shaking with the force of her rage, her tiny frame vibrating. Her hair seemed redder than ever against her pale skin, black robes, and white blouse.
Scorpius was noticing everything. His senses were in overdrive, his heart beating so fast he thought that it might burst out of his chest.
This- this was what he was afraid of.
"What," Rose began, and Scorpius tried to remember to breathe. "What on earth were you thinking?"
She didn't expect an answer, so Scorpius didn't give her one. She stepped forwards, her heels clicking on the floor again.
Scorpius could feel himself sweating.
"Seriously," Rose snarled. Scorpius couldn't have been taking her more seriously if he tried. "I just don't understand why you would do that, Scorpius. I just- I genuinely don't."
Scorpius didn't move.
"Scorpius," Rose said, and her voice softened a fraction, then sharpened again. "Scorpius, why? Don't you know how much pain you put my cousin through? How much pain you put Piper through? She wasn't sleeping, Scorpius, she cried her eyes out. She fainted. She spent a night in the Hospital Wing, for Merlin's sake! And Albus... God, I was so mad at him for so long. Didn't he talk to you about this? How could you even try and comfort him, knowing you were the cause of his pain?"
Rose folded her arms. "I don't understand how you can bear to look at yourself in the mirror."
Silence.
Scorpius couldn't say anything. He didn't know what to say.
Things were blurring. Everything was blurry as Rose turned on her heel, scarlet hair flying, and left.
The door shutting was like a physical pain in Scorpius' heart. He sat down on the cold floor, hard, and started to cry silently.
I've made such a huge mistake, he thought.
