Ike and Dubhe, the guardians.
Ike looked at Dubhe. This is his fault. All his fault. If he hadn't insisted on going down that alley... Ike thought back to just 10 hours ago. There was a dangerous criminal on the loose and as a task they had to go and stop him. Ike and Dubhe had decided to watch together.
Ike said this alley was a hangout for bad guys on the run. Dubhe said maybe it was dangerous, but Ike swore to protect her. After a while, Dubhe agreed to go. When they got there, the bandit noticed the two guardians. He went mad and pulled out a combat dagger. Not one of the usual ones, but one covered with a spell. When launched, he emitted a very strong beam of light, which blinded the victim before killing them. Ike looked away in time, but Dubhe didn't. With a startled yelp Dubhe fell backwards and hit her head on a log. Ike had to face the bad guy without him hurting Dubhe again. With a quick glance back, Ike ran over to the man, drawing his two-handed broadsword. While the bandit was distracted by the greatsword that was rapidly coming towards him, Ike took advantage of the sunlight to make her reflect on the sword and confuse the opponent. With a quick leap Ike was upon him, and with a swipe he killed him. Now that he was out of the way, Ike went to check on Dubhe.
She had a crack in the back of his head, she was bleeding pretty badly. After calling Sharena and Laegjarn to take the corpse away and warn the rest of the Guardians, Ike took Dubhe to the village healer, Sennar, as quickly as possible. The gash looked pretty deep, Dubhe's long, soft hair was all soaked with blood. After Sennar applied a magical ointment, Dubhe woke up and asked Ike why he was so dark. The sun was setting but it wasn't that dark. After explaining that there was still some sunlight outside, Dubhe's face changed in a heartbeat. The next four words had a greater impact on Ike than he ever thought possible. "Ike, I don't see anything." Ike didn't know how to react, because of him Dubhe was blinded.
