Edelgard, the special half-elf.

Edelgard was sitting under a tree in the garden, the summer breeze ruffling her milk-white hair. The two moons above her illuminated the lawn with a dim light, particularly resembling the scenery in the book she was reading. She loved reading for numerous reasons: it was the best way to escape from reality, which she compared to a gray world; she could try to imagine a different life, or to meet her books' heroes and especially because she was under the illusion that dreaming was not wrong.

Edelgard found herself catapulted into a world that at first glance she wouldn't have known how to recognize, but which had a breathtaking view. She was walking towards a cliff, specifically towards an abandoned tree house nearby, to inquire about this planet. As soon as she started walking a girl about her age stopped her. She had brown hair, pitch black eyes and a cloak with a hood that covered most of her face. At her waist she had a belt with numerous weapons, including poisoned arrows and a dagger with a dragon-shaped handle. Edelgard recognized the girl immediately: she was Dubhe, the protagonist of the book she was reading before going to sleep, and of which she dreamed of being friends. Dubhe somehow knew what the albino girl was going through, and in a low but affectionate voice she said:
"I know what you are going through, it's hard to be the only half-elf in town and be laughed at because of it. Just know that you actually hide a great power: only you can control the fire, and you will save your people from destruction. Internal wounds will allow you to be empathetic towards others, to be able to help those who need a hand with the simple fact that you know what others are going through. You are special in your own way, and even if I have never seen you in person believe me, you're not bad. The important thing is to look inside yourself and think you are a beautiful person. Remember these words, they will help you when you are down. Even if I don't know you, know that you are important and I love you."
After which she put a tear of resin around her neck, a pendant that amplified the magical powers of the wearer. Edelgard felt extremely grateful, it was a very rare object that existed only in Dubhe's world. The girls hugged, and Edelgard disappeared shortly after.

The half-elf woke up soon after, the first rays of the dawn sun illuminating her purple eyes so contrasting with her pale skin. She put her hand on her neck, and she realized that she still had the tear on her. She thought long and hard about her nocturnal meeting with her, and she never felt as happy as that morning. Dubhe had comforted her, feeding her with a new strength that she now felt coursing through her veins. This was the dawn of a new day, much brighter than the previous ones.
