004

Alev and Aria exchanged a confused look. They had heard of S.H.E.L.D before but.... they had no idea what it really was. Alev could feel the tension building inside him as the SUV raced down the deserted streets.

Agent Coulson must have sensed his apprehension, for he turned to him and said, "We are a top-secret organization that protects the world from all kinds of threats, including those that are not of this world."

Alev's eyes widened in surprise. "You mean like aliens?" he asked.

"Exactly," Agent Coulson replied. "We have been monitoring your situation for some time now, and we believe that you and Aria have the potential to be valuable assets to our organization."

Aria looked at him, her eyes searching his face.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

We have recently discovered some records of old experime- I mean, experiences from your early days. You 2 have powers." Agent Coulson said.

"With our training and resources, we can help you hone those skills and use them to make a real difference."

Alev and Aria looked at each other in disbelief. They had always known that they were different, but they had never truly understood the extent of their abilities. Aria's eyes were wide with wonder, while Alev's mind raced with possibilities.

"What kind of... difference...?" Alev asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"You'll find out soon enough," Agent Coulson replied with a cryptic smile.

The rest of the car ride was spent in silence, each lost in their thoughts. Alev couldn't believe how quickly his life had changed. Just moments ago, he had been living in a constant state of fear, with no hope of escape.

Now, he was being recruited by a top-secret government organization to fight against otherworldly threats. As the SUV pulled into a giant underground parking garage, Agent Coulson explained that they were at a S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. They exited the car and walked through a set of double doors, into a massive government facility.

"Okay then, kids. The first thing to be done is a medical exam, courtesy of Agent Revers. He's very smart and he's not quite used to working with young patients, but give him a chance, please." said Coulson, as he walked down a hallway, taking a few turns and stopping in front of a door. "Go ahead." Alev bit his lip, knowing what the doctors would find on both of them. Marks from years of abuse. Malnourishment... beatings... sexual assault. He shuddered at the thought of being examined by a stranger, but he knew it was necessary if he and Aria were going to become part of S.H.I.E.L.D.

As they entered the room, Alev's eyes fell on a tall, thin man with wire-rimmed glasses. The man looked up from a clipboard and smiled at them hesitantly.

"Hello," he said, his voice soft. "I'm Agent Revers. I'll be conducting your medical exam today."Alev nodded at him, trying to hide his discomfort. Aria moved closer to him, her hand slipping into his. Revers noticed the gesture and smiled reassuringly at them."Okay, first things first," he said, opening a cabinet and pulling out a set of scales. "Let's get your weight and height."

As Alev stepped onto the scale, he felt a pang of shame. He knew he was underweight for his age, and while he was physically fit... it didn't stop him from weighing less than a boy 4 years younger would.

As Alev stepped onto the scale, he felt Revers' eyes on him, taking note of his thin frame and the bruises on his back. He tried not to squirm under the man's gaze, but he couldn't help the feeling of shame that rose inside him.

Aria stepped onto the scale next, and Alev watched as Revers jotted down her weight and height. She looked up at him with big, curious eyes, seemingly unfazed by the examination."Okay, now I'm going to need you to remove your shirts," Revers said, his tone gentle. "I need to check for any injuries or scars."

Alev's stomach turned at the thought of revealing his bruises to a stranger, but he knew he had to do it. He slowly pulled off his shirt, wincing as the fabric rubbed against his sore skin. Aria followed suit, and Revers' eyes widened as he took it in.

Alev's back was a collage of scars, both fresh and old, glowing white against his skin, some of them pink and tender, others dark purple and slightly raised. He winced as his shirt touched the ones on his shoulder blades, and Aria's shoulder blades looked just like his.Alev and Aria's skin showed the signs of frequent abuse. Bruises and scars everywhere, some old and faded, others fresh and painful.

They were both thin but physically fit. Aria was the smaller of the two, but still taller than most girls her age. Revers was shocked at the difference in their skin. Aria's skin was like porcelain, smooth and perfect. You could see her bones, but not her bruises. Alev, on the other hand, was covered in bruises and cuts, some in the process of healing and others still fresh.

He could tell many of them were from beatings, some from kicks and others from slashes, but at least one or two looked like cigarette burns. Some were old and faded, having been there for years, others were so fresh they were still red and inflamed.

He could tell Alev had been in a fight not too long ago, because there were dried blood on his arms, which also had fresh cuts.

The boy's chest was more of the same, and Revers couldn't help to look on in wonder at him.His chest was battered with a myriad of bruises and cuts, the majority of them from street brawls, some from beatings and more than a few self-inflicted.

"O-okay," Revers croaked, struggling to clear his throat in order to project his voice. He fixed his gaze on the two before him and continued. "We're gonna take some blood samples and run some tests to make sure everything is alright. It won't take too long."

Alev nodded silently and took a seat, gripping the armrests so tightly that they creaked under the pressure. His leg twitched impatiently beneath the table, but not even this motion seemed enough to unsettle him.

Aria scrutinized Revers closely, her eyes filled with suspicion and curiosity. Despite being poked and prodded, she seemed completely unfazed by their current situation.

Revers quickly set to work, taking blood samples from both Alev and Aria. As he worked, he chatted with them, trying to put them at ease."So, do you two know what kind of powers you have?" he asked, his tone casual.

Alev and Aria exchanged a glance. They had never really talked about their powers before, let alone with a stranger."I can sense things," Aria said, her voice soft. "Like... emotions and intentions."Alev nodded in agreement. "And I can... control things. Like objects and people," he said, his voice trailing off uncertainly.

Revers nodded, jotting down notes on his clipboard. "Very interesting," he said. "We'll have to run some tests and see what you're capable of. But I have no doubt that with our help, you'll both be able to harness your abilities and use them for good."

Revers took out his gloves. "Now, Alev, due to the present signs of sexual assault on you, we're going to do a quick check for it. I swear it won't hurt, just feel pretty weird." Alev nodded, clenching his jaw.

Half a second after his examination began, he heard Revers gasp. "There's been molestation," he said, his tone low and shocked. "How long have you been going through this?" Alev was silent for a moment, trying to regain control of his emotions.

He heaved a shaky breath before answering. "Since I was ten." Revers nodded. "I knew it," he said, under his breath. "I knew it." Wordlessly, then resumed his exam, this time checking for STDs and infections.

As he worked, he paused as he encountered a particularly red spot on Alev's shoulder. This one was in the process of healing and was still angry and red. "What's this one from?" he asked, his voice gentle. "Looks pretty painful."

"Uh... it's from when I dislocated my shoulder today." mumbled Alev.

Revers raised an eyebrow, but didn't press the issue. "Anyways, I'm done," he said, disposing of his gloves. "You can get dressed now."

Alev pulled his shirt back on, feeling a rush of cold hit his back. He jumped slightly at the feeling, but otherwise remained still.

"Okay," Revers said, scribbling something on his clipboard. "I'm going to go get the results right now. I'll be right back."

As soon as he left, the door shut behind him with a soft thud, Alev felt Aria's small arms wrap around him. He set his hand on her head and sighed, gently stroking her hair. "I'm tired," he said, exhaustion creeping into is voice. "Just tired."

"When will we start training?" asked Aria, tilting her head upward to look at her twin. "I want to get started."

Alev smiled at her. "Soon enough."

A few minutes later, Revers entered the room again, a  troubled expression on his face.

"So... the DNA tests came back..."
