GENERAL:

And it is back, that time of the year - The Open Novella Contest. This year, I did not vacillate - should I do it? Or maybe not? I was going for it. Though the prompts did make me think - for I liked quite a few when I read them all at first, then on second reading, it was a different few that appealed, and third time round... you get the gist. 

I finally narrowed it down to three prompts:

As always, I knew the prompts would work, for I could almost write out the ending. (I know, I know, that is not how things work but for me, if I cannot have the ending in place, I cannot write out the story). So now that the ending is done, and I can glimpse the beginning, I am as set as possible to write out this tale. Which means I will write out the in-between chapters, as and when inspiration strikes me and hopefully, will have a story that can be trimmed, smoothed and polished.

Another thing, the story would not stick to the exact prompts, especially prompt 74. Of this I am sure, so there would be no romance. Especially since I plan to write it from the point of view of a seventeen year old. However, the story is classified as 'New Adult' as it would not focus on the teenage years. It also leave me more apprehensive than usual, for I have never written in the particular genre. 

Now that the warnings and disclaimers are done, a tight hug to you, my dear reader for starting on this tale. And if you stick to the very end, I would be eternally and infinitely grateful to you. And yes, a couple of hugs more too.
