Chapter-05

Riya (terrified)- Aa... Aap.

[Riya- Yo... You.]

(The person smirks and tries to touch her face, but she gets back startled. He further chuckles at her move and moves closer to her, and she keeps getting back.)

Person- Your Bhai missed you so, so much, Riya.

Riya (in tears)- You are not my Bhai. You are an evil monster.

Person- Oh my god! The little kitten has learned how to speak. I guess she needs her lesson again. What say, Dad?

Ashwin (laughing)- Of course, Harshad! You know it's been a long time since we had some fun.

(She looks at them, terrified to the core, and her bad luck is that she cannot escape this hell. No matter how hard she tries, her destiny always brings her back to this house and her evil family. She looks at her father and her elder brother with pain in her eyes. She thought these men of her life would protect her and treat her like a Princess.

A father who is a daughter's guardian angel and her backbone in every difficulty of life. Fathers provide praise, support, and unconditional love to their daughters and also give them the gift of confidence and high self-esteem. No one in this world can harm you when you have your father by your side. A daughter's relationship with her father determines her ability to trust, her need for approval, and her self-belief. But in Riya's case, she lost all these things when her father- Ashwin Dixit, tried to harass her when she was just 6. That little girl thought her DADDA was playing with her and it will be fun. But she didn't know that her father was playing with her life and that it would obliterate her and give her wounds that no one could ever heal.

A brother, someone a girl can rely on forever. The guy who will keep teasing her all the time but won't let her eyes get wet. A brother is someone who teaches you chivalry, someone who guards you no matter what. A brother loves you to no extent but can get austere when it involves you. But in Riya's case, she got the biggest shock when her elder brother Harshad told her she was undesired and a curse and their parents hated her.

(Coming back to the current situation, Ashwin comes to Riya and again clasps her arm so that she doesn't escape.)

Ashwin- You know we all are so happy. Finally, a curse like you is leaving this house forever. You are getting married. Wow!

Riya (cryingly)- How can you do this to your daughter, Dad? I asked you all if I was adopted, but you again started blaming me. You wish it was true so that you could throw me away. I am your real daughter. Then why so much hatred for your own daughter, Dad? Why...

(Before she could speak further, Ashwin slaps her with such force that she falls down on the floor, her cheek badly bruised, and her ankle hurt. Ashwin then bends down in front of her, and she gets away from him in fear.)

Ashwin (angrily)- Tumhe samjhaya hai naa Anita ne that you are no one to us, and we all hate you from the bottom of our hearts. Hmm? (shouting in anger) Bataya hai ya nahi?

[Ashwin- Haven't Anita told you are no one to us, and we all hate you from the bottom of our hearts? (Shouting in anger) Haven't she?]

Riya (in tears)- But why? Kyu? Kya kiya hai maine? I am also your child, just like Harshad and Aryaman, Dad.

[Riya- But why? Why? What have I done? I am also your child, just like Harshad and Aryaman Dad.]

(They all are arguing when Anita enters the scene.)

Anita- Because you are a curse for us.

(Riya's heart breaks when she hears her mother say things like this to her. Anita comes towards her, bends down in front of her, and looks at her with extreme hatred and disgust.)

Anita- Yes! Your family and especially your parents were not at all happy on the day you were born. Because your birth bought us losses and losses. Jaise hi tumne janam liya humari puri factory band ho gayi. Tumhari vajhe se mera career kharaab hua. Tumhari vajhe se hua sab. Aur maine tumhe bataya tha naa, jab tum choti thi to tumhari vajhe se hume kitni problems hoti thi.

[Anita- Yes! Your family and especially your parents were not at all happy on the day you were born. Because your birth bought us losses and losses. As soon as you were born, our factory got shut. My career got tarnished and destroyed because of you. It was all because of you. And I had told you right about all the problems caused by you when you were young.]

Riya (in tears)- Mom aap aise kyu bol rahe ho? Mere janam lene pe kya kya hua uspe mera control kaise hoga Mom. Main to bachi thi naa tab. Please don't say this, naa, Mom. Please!

[Riya- Why are you saying all this, Mom? How could I control the events that happened during my birth? I was a kid back then. Please don't say this, naa, Mom. Please!]

Anita- You are responsible for this, Riya. You are. And upar se tumhe ye sab karne ki itni jaldi thi ki tum premature hi bahar aa gayi. Aur phir vo doctors aur hospitals ke chakkar oh God! (making faces) Mam, your daughter is fragile, and she has low immunity. Please take extra care of her. Mam, your daughter's skin is susceptible to uss ka dhyaan rakhna. Mam, your daughter may suffer from health issues later in life to aap ko pehle hi uska ache se dhyaan rakhna hai what the hell yaar. Itne drama aur losses se acha to tum marr hi jaati naa.

[Anita- You are responsible for this, Riya. And above all this, you were so eager to destroy our lives that you took birth as a premature baby. And then all those visits to the hospital. Oh God! (making faces) Mam, your daughter is fragile and has low immunity. Please take extra care of her. Mam, your daughter's skin is susceptible to take care of that. Mam, your daughter, may suffer from health issues later in life, so you only need to take care from now. What the hell! Why didn't you just die instead of so much drama and losses?]

Riya (shouting cryingly)- Agar aap ko mujh se itni hi problem thi to kyu janam diya mujhe? Maar dete apni kokh mein hi naa. Naa aapko itni problems hoti aur naa mujhe suffer karna padta.

[Riya- If you had so many issues with me, why did you give birth to me? You should have killed me in your womb only. Both of us then wouldn't have to suffer so much.]

Anita- Kaise maar deti tujhe haan? Tabhi bhi sirf teri hi galti thi. Tujhe maar ke meri jaan ko bhi khatra ho sakta tha. Isiliye majburi thi humari tujhe zinda rakhna. Varna jis din pata chala tha ki main pregnant hoon ussi din maar diya hota tujhe.

[Anita- How could I kill you? It was your fault in this case, too. Killing you would have risked my life as well. It was our helplessness that I had to keep you alive. Otherwise, I would have killed you when I discovered I was pregnant.]

(Riya looks at the devils in human disguise standing in front of her eyes as her family and her tears are unstoppable today. She is being treated like this for no fault, giving irreparable wounds to her heart and soul. Her tears are indomitable, and she is shaken.)

Anita- And yes! You need to meet that guy too for marriage tomorrow. We have said yes to them, and you are marrying him. That's final! Now just get away from my eyes. Leave!

(She stands up from the floor, hisses in pain because of her wounded ankle, and avoids looking at her family, who laugh after seeing her in pain. She goes to her room, holding the stair railing for support, and shuts and locks the door of her room as soon as she gets inside. She doesn't switch on the room's lights and looks in the darkness, panting, a crying mess. She then hears a voice of a little girl crying badly, banging the window's glass with her little fists.)

Girl- Dad please mujhe bahar nikalo! Mumma, please darr lagta hai andhere se! I am sorry, Papa. Main dubara kabhi aap ke room mein nahi jaungi please khol do Papa!

[Girl- Dad, please take me out from here. Mom, I fear the dark, please. I am sorry, Dad. I will never enter your room again, but please open the door, Dad.]

(Her hands are shaking badly in fear, and she is sweating profusely. She feels her body turning weak and the darkness scaring that 8-year-old more and more. Riya is numb right now as she watches a flashback of a little Riya getting tortured.)

Riya (loudly)- No!

(She comes out of her imagination, and the little girl is gone. As more voices echo in her mind, she closes her eyes, but the past keeps coming to her.)

How dare you come in front of my friends, Riya! I had to bear so much insult because of you!

You are a burden on us, Riya. Why didn't you just die when you were born?

You have made our lives hell, Riya. You are a curse to our happiness.

No one loves you, bitch. You don't deserve love.

You deserve all the pain and hatred in the world. People say that mother's blessings are the most potent right... I wish my curse acts that powerfully for you too!

You are a little piece of dirt. You are a piece of bad luck to all.

Riya (screaming loudly in pain)- Nooooo!

(All the voices disappear from her mind, and she slumps down on the floor, sitting next to the door. She covers her mouth and breaks down, crying badly. She is shivering and sweating badly, and her breathing is laboured too.)

Riya (in a broken tone)- I guess I deserve all this. Yes! I deserve hate. I don't deserve love. I don't.

(She again bursts out in tears and cries, hiding her face in her arms, hugging herself more.)
