Chapter 9

Tears welled up in Samriddhi's eyes once again, but this time, they were accompanied by a newfound resolve. She mustered the strength to share the truth, to release the burden she carried within her. With trembling words, she narrated the events that had unfolded, from the discovery of Vihaan's past relationship to the depths of her shattered trust.

“Papa, woh live-in me rehte the apni girlfriend ke saath. Unko bacha bhi hone wala tha, par unki girlfriend, Aysha, ne abortion karwa liya…. He is not mine, papa. I can't accept a man like him as my husband. I would have never married him if I knew about his dirty past.” She cried all the while. ( Papa, he ( Vihaan) used to be in a live in relationship with his girlfriend. They were about to have a baby. But then his girlfriend Aysha aborted their unborn baby. )

Her father and brother listened intently, their hearts aching with every word she spoke. They understood the depth of her pain, the betrayal that had shaken the foundation of her marriage. In the midst of their own sorrow, they offered their unwavering support, assuring her that she was not alone in this journey.

“Samriddhi, take a divorce if that's what you want. We will not stop you. Believe me nothing is worth your tears. No need to stay in a marriage that is hurting you so bad.” Her brother said, not being able to stand his beloved little sister's tears.

Her father who had been patiently listening to his children spoke, “Beta it's up to you what you want to do with your marriage, I will stand by your side. But give it a thought, sweetheart.”

“No, I will not stay with him. I have made up my mind. I want to separate from him……She left you, she left us. ( Sammy is referring to her mother.) Even, you accepted that woman with her past, what did you get in return, papa? Only betrayal and abandonment. She fled with that lover of hers. I don't want to go through the fate you suffered, papa.” She wiped her cheeks with the back of her hand.

Her father's heart dropped. He didn't realise that the pathetic woman who used to be his wife and was his children's mother had so terribly affected his beloved daughter.

Upon realising the dilemma his daughter was going through, he chose not to explain Samriddhi any further. He understood that his daughter was only trying to protect herself from what he had gone through in his marriage.

Perhaps if he had left his wife, his daughter would not have developed this level of insecurity and turmoil.

Together, they formed a circle of love and resilience, embracing Samriddhi in her vulnerability. They offered comforting words, assuring her that healing would come, that she had the strength to rebuild her life. In that moment, the bond of family became a sanctuary, a shelter against the storms of life.

With each passing moment, Samriddhi felt a glimmer of hope rekindle within her. Though the wounds were still fresh, the love and support of her father and brother became her guiding light. They would navigate this journey together, one step at a time, as a family united in their commitment to her well-being.

And so, with the morning sun casting its warm glow upon them, they embraced the uncertainty that lay ahead. Samriddhi, fortified by the love of her family, knew that she had the strength to rise above the pain, to find her voice, and to rebuild her life on her own terms. The journey to healing had just begun, and together, they would navigate the path towards a brighter tomorrow.

As the days stretched on, Samriddhi's emotional turmoil began to take a toll on her physical well-being. The weight of her pain and shattered trust weighed heavily upon her, manifesting in various symptoms that gripped her daily life.

Unexplained tears would stream down her cheeks, uncontrollable waves of sorrow that washed over her when least expected. The once-vibrant colors of her world began to fade, as her appetite waned and the taste of food lost its allure. Dizziness would occasionally overtake her, leaving her feeling disoriented and disconnected from her surroundings.

Amidst her struggle, Vihaan yearned to be there for her, to offer support and reassurance. He desperately tried to reach out, to bridge the growing chasm between them, but his attempts were met with rejection. Samriddhi, lost in her pain, felt unable to confront him or engage in conversations that would only reopen the wounds.

Eventually, she made the difficult decision to block him, hoping that distancing herself would grant her the space she needed to heal. It wasn't an act of malice but rather a self-preservation mechanism, a way to shield herself from the ongoing turmoil that their connection had become.

Vihaan, left in a state of anguish, felt the emptiness of her absence and the weight of his own remorse. He grappled with the consequences of his actions, realising the extent to which his past had shattered their present. But he understood that his mere presence couldn't mend the damage inflicted upon Samriddhi's heart.

In the midst of the evening, as Samriddhi sat down to have her dinner, an unexpected wave of nausea swept over her. The intensity of the sensation took her by surprise, and she hurriedly made her way to the bathroom, her father and brother closely following behind, concerned for her well-being.

Inside the bathroom, Samriddhi found herself emptying the contents of her stomach, the physical release mirroring the emotional turmoil that consumed her. Her brother, aware of her recent distress, gently suggested the possibility of pregnancy, his voice laced with a mix of concern and curiosity.

Her brother anxiously asked, "Are you alright, Sammy? Could it be... could you be pregnant?”

She shook her head in response to her brother's question, the memory of the negative test lingering in her mind. The possibility of being pregnant, in the midst of the upheaval in her life, seemed like an impossible twist of fate. Her heart felt heavy with a mixture of longing and despair, unsure of what the future held.

Samriddhi's eyes filled with tears as she shook her head, whispering, "No, I'm not. I took a test before, and it was negative. It's just... everything that has happened, it's taking a toll on me."

Samriddhi's heart sank as she recalled the pregnancy test she had taken before, the negative result that shattered her hopes.

Her father, sensing the weight of the moment, offered a comforting hand on her shoulder. With a compassionate gaze, he reassured her that regardless of the outcome, they would support her every step of the way. The love and understanding in his eyes provided a glimmer of hope, a reminder that no matter the circumstances, she would never be alone.

Her brother's voice softened, filled with concern. "I understand, but sometimes those tests can be wrong. Perhaps it's worth getting checked by a doctor, just to be sure."

Samriddhi nodded, wiping her mouth with a trembling hand. Her father, who had been observing the exchange, stepped forward, his voice gentle yet firm. "We'll support you, no matter what the result is. Your well-being is our priority, my dear."

Tears continued to stream down Samriddhi's face as she leaned into her father's embrace. "Thank you, Papa. I don't know what I'd do without you and bhai by my side."

Her brother hugged her tightly, offering reassurance. "We're here for you, always. Let's get you the help you need and find some answers. You don't have to face this alone."

With their unwavering support, Samriddhi found a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty. Their words of love and understanding provided a beacon of light in her darkest moments, reminding her that family stood by her side, ready to offer strength and solace.

Amidst the uncertainty and the questions that swirled in her mind, Samriddhi knew that she needed to find clarity. The next day, she made a decision—to seek medical guidance and put her doubts to rest. With her father and brother by her side, she embarked on the journey towards understanding, hopeful that the truth would bring some semblance of peace to her tumultuous world.

Little did she know that the answer she sought would not only hold significance for her own life but also carry the power to redefine the course of her relationship with Vihaan. The revelation that awaited her would test her resilience and challenge her perceptions, ultimately leading her towards an unforeseen destination of self-discovery and redemption.
