Sophia didn't know how to react on seeing Alvin. This was someone she detested from the very first day she had an encounter with him. "How is this possible?", she asked herself in confusion. She couldn't believe that she had been crushing over her enemy. Not really enemy, but it's safe to call him her enemy since they weren't on good terms.
Alvin who was confused as well couldn't help but laugh. This wasn't a happy laugh; but a laugh that expressed surprise and shock. He received flashbacks of the first day they met. How she had embarrassed him and called him a creep. He was displeased with her and couldn't believe that she was the same person he had been chatting with all these while. He decided to be the bigger person and break the silence.
"Umm, this is a surprise. I never thought that it could be you"
"Well, same here. It's a shock to me as well. Umm, um" , replied Sophia stammering.
"Well, since you're here already. If you don't mind, you can sit. I'll love to ask you something and I think this is a perfect time to ask you", said Alvin as he brought out the seat for Sophia. Yes he was a bit annoyed by her but he was still a gentleman after all. He wanted to know the exact reason she embarrassed him that day. At that point, he kinda figured that it might have been a misunderstanding, because the girl he had been chatting with had been respectful and lovely. He knew she wouldn't just do that without a reason. That was why he decided to make good use of the opportunity.
Sophia thought for a bit and decided to sit down. She had already spent time, energy and money coming to the restaurant. It would be a waste to go back without at least having something to eat or drink since she was hungry already. She didn't eat anything prior to coming to the restaurant cause she knew they were going to have some food. She was a bit uncomfortable because why would a creep be nice to her while chatting all those time. She was even surprised he brought out the seat for her to sit on.
Looking at him, she was amazed by his beauty. He was well dressed and looked magnificent. Emily was right after all. She had never seen him this good looking before while at school. She then realized she was thinking too much about him and shook her head. She cleared her throat and adjusted her chair.
"Go ahead, I'm listening",
"Well, our first encounter wasn't quite good and memorable. I was waiting for my friend in the coffee shop when you came out of no where and started abusing me and embarrassing me. I want to know why you did that".
"Umm. Well, you were the one who wrote something disrespectful and sent to me"
"What?? When? I never wrote anything down that day."
"My friend gave me a note that said 'how much for one night baby?'. She said it was from a boy putting on a green shi...rt",. At this point, Sophia then realized that she was mistaken. She vividly remembered that Alvin was putting on a green cap and not a green shirt.
"I wasn't even putting on a green shirt that day. Ohh, yeah, it was my cap that was green. But I didn't write anything like that",
Sophia realized that she had messed up. She was so ashamed and wanted to cover her face in shame. "I'm so sorry Alvin. I'm really really really sorry. I was mistaken. I thought you were the one who wrote it. I'm so sorry please".
"It's fine actually. It's okay. We all make mistakes. And I'm also sorry for yelling at you too"
"No. You shouldn't be sorry. You had every reason to yell at me. I'm so sorry".
"It's fine. Umm. It's actually quite funny how we met here. The world is really a small place", said Alvin as he smiled at Sophia.
Finally, they resolved the misunderstanding. They both apologized to each other and ordered food and drinks. They both continued conversing with each other while eating and smiling. It was like they had been friends since childhood. Sophia enjoyed the conversation as well as Alvin.
"Oh, how can I forget to tell you that you look gorgeous today", Alvin told Sophia who choked on her food on hearing that.
"Thank you. You look good as well. Like, really good", Sophia told him after chuckling. She was trying so hard not to blush too much. She could finally see Alvin's handsomeness. He looked particularly breathtaking on that day. They both continued their food while having little conversation about school and life in general.
After they were done eating, Sophia wanted to split the bill but Alvin had already paid in full.
"You didn't have to."
"Nah, it's fine. I want to pay it. Don't bother yourself".
"You really didn't have to. At least, let me add something as an apology too",
"No. Haha. It's fine. You don't have to keep apologizing."
"I'll pay the bill the next time we eat out", . Sophia was immediately embarrassed after saying this. She couldn't believe she was expecting a next time. She closed her eyes in shame and gasped a bit.
"Next time???? You ..okay okay. There'll be a next time if you want", said Alvin smiling.
They spent a lot of time together, took each other's phone number and called it a day.
On getting to the dorm, Jane was already excited waiting for Sophia.
"Come and gist me Fia. How did it go? How did he look? What happened? Tell me tell me", Jane was in a hurry to hear everything that had happened between them. She couldn't wait to hear the full story.
"Girl,.you won't believe what happened. I just embarrassed myself".
Sophia laid on her bed as she was tired already. She then explained everything to Jane who was in a haste to know what had transpired between them. Jane was surprised as well and laughed at Sophia. She was also happy that they had settled things and that the meeting had gone well. She was pleased that nothing had happened to Sophia. They both kept gisting till they were tired. Alvin also texted Sophia to make sure she had gotten to her dorm safe.

Monday morning came, and it was time for classes. Sophia woke up earlier than usual and prepared for classes. Her phone rang and she was excited to pick it up.
"Hello, you carrot nose. What's up?"
"Who are you calling a carrot nose? You ...you...I can't even describe you. The word I need is not yet in the dictionary", Sam replied jokingly.
" Hahahaha. Funny. What's up bro? Why'd you call?",
" Nothing. I just wanted to see if you're still alive. Lol."
"You missed me, right? "
"Hell nah. Why would I?"
"Pretender. I know you do"
"Bye. I'm done confirming. Read your books and make your parents proud. Adiós".
Sophia laughed and continued talking to Sam on the phone till she got to the class. It was pretty obvious that Sam missed her but as a typical annoying younger sibling, he wouldn't acknowledge it. No matter how much they bickered, they had an amazing relationship as siblings.
She was already seated when Emily came in. They both exchanged greetings and sat next to each other.
"You keep looking around. Are you waiting for someone?", Emily asked Sophia.
"Who? Me? Nah. Nothing. I was just checking something. It's nothing", replied Sophia smiling. Just then, Alvin walked in and waved at Sophia who waved back at him smiling. This shocked Emily who was surprised to see Sophia interacting with Alvin.
"Wait, wa..it, wa..it, what just happened? When did it start Sophia?", asked Emily to Sophia. She recalled when Sophia had asked he what she saw in Alvin. She couldn't believe that Sophia would ever interact with Alvin because of how she always acted towards him.
"It's nothing serious actually. Remember the guy I told you I was chatting with on that app? It was actually Alvin. Girl, I'll gist you everything later", Sophia replied Emily happily. Emily was shocked to hear that and couldn't wait to hear the full story. "You now accept that he's good looking, right? You pretender", She kept teasing Sophia until their lecturer walked in.

Alvin and Sophia went out again. Just as Sophia had wanted, she paid the bills. She didn't want it to look like she was extorting Alvin. Alvin wanted to pay too but this time, Sophia didn't let him. They also conversed and enjoyed each other's company.
They were now on good terms and had become best of friends.
It was already December and the university had taken a break for the Christmas holiday. Most of the students had gone home to celebrate with their families, including Sophia and Alvin. On Christmas day, Sophia received a text from Alvin:
"Merry Christmas to you Fia. I wish you God's blessings and favour and hope you enjoy the remaining days of this year.
When we resume, I'd love to take you to a Korean restaurant so that you can try tteokbokki. And there, I'm going to ask you something that has been on mind for so long. Merry Christmas once again. I look forward to seeing you".
Sophia read the text with great joy and smiled throughout. She was happy to receive the text from him and was particularly happy about trying tteokbokki with him. She sent him back a Merry Christmas text and looked forward to hearing what he had to ask her. She couldn't wait to resume uni just so she could meet Alvin. A part of her knew what Alvin wanted to ask her, and she was a hundred percent sure she would accept it. I think it's pretty obvious that he wants to ask her out.
Sophia enjoyed the rest of the holidays with her family and friends from home.
At last, she was enjoying her university life just as she had wanted from the beginning.
