Road Of Revenge

Before Yasu could forget his promise to Gin, he sent a short message to Gin with the help of Ren.  As the time passed deeper into the night, they made plans to visit Yasu in Nijo and different ways to contact him.  Yasu told them about Gin and the rest of his servants. While Ren informed him of his own loyal and private guards who has been investigating every lead.

By the time they turned in for the night, the lamp was already burning low and the tea had long been finished.

"Where will I be sleeping?"  Yasu asked as he looked around the room.

The receiving room that he was in had only one table and four chairs.  The wall was lined with books on the bookshelves. There was a door on the right, which was Ren's bedroom.  On the left was Ren's study.

Yasu was alright with sleeping on the floor.  As long as he was provided with a blanket. He had slept on the hard ground in the woods before, so sleeping on the ground inside didn't faze him.

Ren and Shiro lead Yasu to the room on the right and as they entered the room, Yasu stopped at the door.

The bedroom was twice as large as the receiving room and at the furthest wall was a large bed that could fit six people.

"If you don't mind, you can sleep with us."  Shiro said as he reached out and held Ren's hand.

"Oh."  Yasu said as he saw their fingers interlacing with each other.  "Congratulations."

Yasu smiled at them.  There was a sour feeling that suddenly came over him.

"But...sharing a bed with lovers is a bit uncomfortable for me."  Yasu told them truthfully. He didn't want to come in between them, nor did he want to betray Gin.

Since he had decided to be with Gin, he would be a loyal person.  Unlike his past self where he couldn't decide who he wanted to be with and was torn between two people.  Because of his indecision, he hurt the people he cared about and died because of it. He didn't want to make the same mistake.

"We're just going to sleep."  Shiro told Yasu. "That's all."

Yasu hesitated once again which cause Shiro to speak up.

"Besides, the outer barracks have no empty rooms or beds and the city gates are closed.  Where else will you sleep?"

"I can sleep in an open field outside."  Yasu told them.

"No."  Ren turned him down with one word.

"I can sleep in the barn."

"No."  Ren said again, this time his frown deepened.

"I can sleep on the floor."

"No."  Ren turned him down for the third time.

" I can--"  Yasu began to say, however Ren had long lost his patience and walked towards Yasu.

He grabbed Yasu around the waist and scooped Yasu into his arms.  With a few steps, they were already by the bed. Ren then threw Yasu into the middle of the bed.

Just as Yasu began to sit up, Ren already laid down next to him.  He pinned Yasu down onto the bed with his arm and leg like a koala. Shiro joined them and laid down on the other side of Yasu, with his arm and leg over Yasu as well.

Yasu began to wiggle out of their hold, but the more he tried to wiggle out, the more Shiro pressed himself closer to Yasu.

"Stay still."  Ren ordered Yasu.  "Close your eyes and go to sleep."

Yasu was able to break their hold without hurting them and sat up, but Shiro quickly clung to him from behind.

"Please stay."  Shiro pleaded. "Please, can you let us just hold you tonight?"

Yasu frowned as he looked down at his hands that laid on his lap.  There was once a time when Yasu thought that he could try to be in a relationship with Shiro.   The quiet life with Shiro working at the clinic while Yasu worked at The Illuminating Splendor was one that he could be happy with.  But at the time he was still a young man who was still living under his parent's roof. He had just begun to get to know Shiro when tragedy struck.

"I--"  Yasu began to argue, but was suddenly cut off by Ren's words.

"Please lay back down.  Just for tonight, let us hold you to sleep.  We won't do anything else." Ren asked.

There was something about Ren's pleading that Yasu couldn't say 'no' to.  His voice was deep and commanding and it reminded him of his Father.

Yasu broke out of Shiro's hold to turn around and kneel on the bed.  He looked at the two men who shared a fateful past with and sighed. The pleading words and their worried gaze was softening Yasu's will and determination.

"We're just sleeping?"  Yasu asked as he gave into their demands.  How could he ruthlessly say no to them with so much pleading?

"Yes.  Just sleeping."  Shiro said as he nodded his head up and down.  "Right, Ren?"

"Yes, just sleeping."  Ren agreed.

"If that's the case then I'll sleep in the same bed as you guys, but you have to know that I have someone who is waiting for me at home and he is someone who I hold dear to my heart."  Yasu told them truthfully. "So if we're just sleeping then that's fine, I'll stay for the night and sleep in the same bed."

Shiro and Ren looked at each other then looked back at Yasu and nodded their heads in understanding.

"Okay then."  Yasu said as he got off the bed.

"Where are you going?!?"  Shiro shouted as he began to get off the bed as well.

"Stay there!  I'm just blowing out the lamps."

Yasu went to the lamps that were lit around the room and blew at the candle one by one.  He made his way back to bed and crawled in between them.

Once he laid down, he was wrapped up in their embrace once more.  They clung to him like koalas and he could only force himself not to move.  The more he moved, the more they inched closer to him.

Yasu stayed still and looked up at the ceiling.  He wasn't comfortable enough to fall asleep, so he stayed quiet, hoping that the two men by his side would fall asleep first.

"Who is he?"  Shiro quietly asked after a long time of silence.

"Who?"  Yasu asked as he sighed heavily.  Somehow he knew that no one was going to get enough sleep that night.

"The man who you hold dear to your heart?"

"Someone who I paid 500 gold and 21 silver for."  Yasu told them.

"What!"  Ren shouted.  His voice echoed within the room before he cleared his throat in embarrassment.  "What do you mean?"

Yasu smiled and began telling them about Gin.  By the end of the story both Shiro and Ren understood what Yasu meant by 500 gold and 21 silver.

"Does he treat you well?"  Shiro asked.

"He does."  Yasu told them.  "He's like a big puppy.  Give him attention and you're all he can see.  Give him food and he's forever loyal. Give him praises and he's always smiling.  Give him love and he loves you back, unconditionally."

"I'm glad that he's a good man."  Shiro said, but there was something in his voice that wavered.

"I have to go back to Nijo tomorrow."  Yasu told them.

"So soon?" Ren asked.

"Mhmm.  I'm waiting for some people to answer my call for help."  Yasu told them.

"Who?"  Ren asked.

"My Father's loyal soldiers.  On my way to Nijo, I left secret messages and signs for them to meet me in Nijo.  It's been a couple months, they should be arriving soon and I need to receive them."  Yasu told them truthfully. "They needed time to settle their family affairs.  The chance of them not returning back home is a possibility.  To walk a road of revenge, the possibility of death is high. I too might not live through this."

"Yasu."  Shiro whispered as he held onto Yasu tighter.

"Although I do not want to die, it's the truth.  I might not live through this, but if I do die, I'll be taking Hiraga down with me."

"Yasu."  Shiro called out again.  "You're not alone. You're not walking the road of revenge alone.  We're here too."

"And with us walking beside you.  The chance of you dying is lower."  Ren told him. "I won't let anyone take your life so easily.  I won't be late, ever again."

"Mhmmm. Thank you." Yasu said.

Yasu didn't dissuade Ren or Shiro to not walk the same road as him.  For they both have experienced that fateful day five years ago. They saw and experienced that horror.  They too needed to do something to bring justice to the world. The only two things he could do is accept their help and watch their back so they would get hurt.
