Darkness

When Yasu opened his eyes, he found himself under the covers and in bed. His outer robe and shoes had been removed. His hair unbounded and fanned out above him. The curtains around the bed were closed. Darkness surrounded him and yet he knew he wasn't alone.

There were two extra heartbeats sitting silently inside his room. He knew who they were without seeing them. No one would enter his room except for Shiro and Ren. How long they were sitting inside of his room while he was sleeping, he didn't know. He must have fallen asleep while he was leaning against the door. Was he so tired and out of it that he didn't even notice them coming inside the room, moving him to the bed and undressing him down to his inner wear. And exactly how did they enter his room while he leaned against the door? Through the window?

Yasu laid in bed thinking if he should face them head on or try to go back to sleep and face his troubles tomorrow.

"Awake?" Ren said as softly and quietly as he could. His voice cut through the silent room, disturbing the peaceful atmosphere.

"Mhmmm." Yasu hummed as he got off the bed. Pulling the curtain to the side, he sat on the edge of the bed. His eyes latched on the two silhouettes who sat not too far from him. They sat at the table with a tea set between them, while the darkness surrounded them. "Why are you guys sitting in the dark?"

Shiro turned to the side and lit the lamp on the table. The light illuminated their features and looking at them made Yasu's heart ache. He quickly looked down to his feet. Guilt flooded his senses as tears threatened to escape from his puffy eyes.

The two of them, sitting side by side, reminded him of his Father and his Dad. The love between them could be felt without words. He was envious of that love because he wanted to be a part of it as well. Yasu closed his eyes and tightly clenched his jaws. His hands tightly squeezed the bedsheets by his side.

Slowly he closed his eyes because he couldn't stand how disgusting he was. His breaths came fast and short. He could feel his heartbeat faster and faster. The walls felt as if they were closing in on him.

He didn't deserve anyone's love and protection. He didn't deserve any happiness in his life. If he couldn't be true and loving towards one person, why should he be loved in return?

His emotional scars and guilt had carried on from his past life to his current life. He didn't know how to forgive himself and move on with his life. Because of this he couldn't blame anyone else, but himself because he was the cause of his own death.

He had thought that as long as he could be faithful towards one person, he would be worthy enough to be loved, cherished, and be happy. But because he couldn't stay true to his word he thought he deserved nothing good in his new life.

The lonely darkness that surrounded him and suffocated him slowly began to recede. The arms that held him tightly squeezed tighter and tighter as they held onto him for dear life.

"Come back to us." Shiro softly and repeatedly said. "Come back. Everything is going to be alright."

"We're here for you. Come back to us." Ren repeatedly confirmed as well. "We can get through this together."

The darkness that surrounded his vision became hazy. The light from the lamp became the first thing he saw. Somehow, Yasu was pressed in between Shiro and Ren. His arms were wrapped around Ren's shoulder as his legs were around his waist. The two of them pressed on to his body tightly from the front and the back as if they were protecting him like a cacoon. Their arms wrapped around each other, squeezing him in between their embrace. His chin rested on Ren's shoulder, breathing in a mixture of all of their scents.

Unconsciously tears began to fall. He didn't deserve their care and love. He couldn't even keep his own promise to himself.

The arms around him tightened even more. They squeezed him between them as if they were afraid he would suddenly disappear while holding him in their arms.

"We can work through this together." Shiro said as he buried his face between Yasu's shoulder blades. "Just don't give up on us without giving us a chance to fight for us. Don't reject our love for you because you're scared that we'll hurt Gin's feelings. Just give us a chance to love you and let us at least try to get to know Gin as well. Because I know that we all love and care for you. We want the best for you and want to share the rest of our lives with you."

"Someone who loves you, like us, must also be a good man." Ren said as he pressed his cheek against the side of Yasu's hair. "Give us a chance to get to know Gin, as well as letting him get to know us. We can learn how much of a good man he is and he can learn how good we will be to the both of you."

"This relationship involves all of us. We all have a say in who we want in this relationship." Shiro interjected. "If it's Gin's opinion you're worried about, we can speak to him and see what he has to say about this as well."

Yasu wanted to interject, but the words he wanted to say never came out of his mouth. His selfishness and desires won over his conviction.

He didn't deserve any of their love and care. He didn't deserve any blessings in his life.
