"Master." Gin called out to Yasu as he followed Yasu down the street. "Master."
Yasu ignored the brawny man who kept calling him, 'Master.'
"Wait for me." Gin called out once again, drawing attention to them.
Yasu really wanted to smash Gin's head. He didn't want to draw attention to himself so he waited. Yasu had thought that since Gin's legs were so long, he would be able to keep up with Yasu's quick steps. But it turned out to be otherwise.
"Where are we going?" Gin asked as his smile brightened at Yasu's consideration to wait for them to walk together.
"To the slave market." Yasu told him. "I need servants."
"Oh." Gin nodded his head. "Let me help you pick up the good ones."
Yasu's lip twitched, but he said nothing in return.
They made their way to the slave market with Gin's large eyes as he pointed and commented on every little thing in the marketplace.
When they arrived at the slave market, Yasu's eyes scanned the males and few females that were chained and locked up behind cells. None of the slaves looked up at Yasu or Gin. They kept their head down as if they didn't want to be chosen.
"Greetings, welcome. Welcome. How can this commoner help you, Young Master?" The slave seller said as he walked up to Yasu.
Yasu scanned around the male cells before pointing to a group of men who were huddling together.
"Them." Yasu told the seller.
The seller's eyes opened wide in surprise. Four of those men were brothers, they looked unwelcoming and defensive. They quickly placed two of the men behind them as if to protect them.
Yet when Yasu pointed them out, Yasu could see a small light of hope in the eyes of the four brothers, yet there were also signs of defiance.
"Do you have loved ones here as well?" Yasu asked them.
The oldest of the four stepped forward and nodded his head.
"Two more." He said before pointing two the two men who stood behind them. The two men who were protected by the four brothers were thin and beautiful. They could be sold at a high price at a brothel.
"I'll take all six of them." Yasu told the seller.
The seller hesitated to tell Yasu about the slaves that he was going to buy, but decided to hold back on his warning. The seller was happy to see them gone, the sooner the better.
The family was very protective of each other. He had wanted to sell the two beautiful men, however the four brothers all have high martial prowess and fought back. They had injured his guards many times and couldn't get close to them at all. None of his guards could suppress the four brothers. Even if they had the advantage.
If not for the cell and enchanted chains that imprisoned the brothers, they would have already escaped.
After negotiating the price for the family of six, Gin took it upon himself to point himself as the leader of the group.
"Master is a good person." Gin told them. "He'll take care of you, as long as you are loyal to him. He will not take advantage of any of you, so you can relax your mind. Serve him well and he'll reward you. Master doesn't like a lot of noise, nor does he like any trouble. Pay attention to this."
After leaving the slave market, Yasu brought the group of men to a public bath house. As the new servants took a bath, under Gin's watchful eyes, Yasu went to the clothing shop to buy premade clothes for the group.
Once they were clean and dressed, Yasu brought them around the market, buying necessities for the house. They ran around the market the whole morning and stopped at a restaurant to enjoy a meal together.
They were given in a private room where Yasu was the only one sitting at the large table. The rest of the group was standing by the wall, along with Gin. They were all following Gin's actions, not knowing what to do.
"Sit." Yasu ordered them.
The family of servants all looked at each other before looking at Gin for advice. No Master will share a table with their servants, this was unheard of and never done before.
"Sit." Yasu ordered them once more.
This time his voice was harsh with annoyance. He didn't like to repeat himself. Not only that, since the moment that Yasu freed Gin, Yasu has always treated him as an individual. During their journey to the capital, Gin has always shared a table with him, but now that there was new servants, he began treating Yasu like a little lord again.
They slowly sat down with hesitation and kept their heads down. They didn't even look up when the waiter took the order. Nor did they speak when tea was being served to all of them.
They all waited in silence, waiting for Yasu to speak. When the dishes were served, Yasu picked up his chopsticks and finally said one word to them.
"Eat."
Yasu ate comfortably, without a care. However to everyone else, the food that they put in their mouth tasted bland and was hard to swallow. They were too nervous to actually taste and enjoy their food.
The moment Yasu placed his chopsticks down, everyone else did as well.
"I won't ask for much from you." Yasu said as he looked at his new servants. "As long as you work hard, listen to my orders and be loyal to me and only me, I can guarantee that you live a good life."
"Yes, Master." They all said in unison.
"I will be opening a private tea house." Yasu told them. "I will teach you how to brew tea correctly and served tea gracefully. Keep your ears open and your lips tight."
The group of servants nodded their heads in understanding. Their new Master was gathering information. What kind of information, they didn't know, but their Master wanted them to listen to everything that the customers said.
"What are your names?" Yasu asked.
The oldest and the head of the family is Kazno. As the oldest, he took care of his family, who were poor farmers. In the village that they lived in, lived a retired General, who helped teach them some martial arts and taught them how to hunt.
Akeme, the second oldest, apprenticed himself as a carpenter and married Nao. Nao, helped maintain the household chores and was great at cooking.
Kou, the second youngest, helped his family with farming and hunting. While Michi, the youngest, was sent to the academy to become a scholar. At the academy, Michi fell in love with Kin, a classmate and soon married him as well.
Although life was hard for them, it was a simple life. However their simple life was soon broken by a new teacher who wanted Kin for himself. The new teacher first began causing trouble for Michi in the academy. When Kin and Michi refused to divorce, the teacher used his connections to attack Michi's family.
Their family was soon accused of colluding with bandits who had began harassing the villagers and farmers. Without a trace of evidence, they were all arrested and lost their home. Instead of being brought to court to face a trial, they were sold off to slavers.
The only reason why they were able to stay together, was that they fought the guards who tried to split them apart. No matter how injured they became, they were not willing to separate from one another.
They had only arrived to the capital city's slave market for one day until Yasu bought them. Had Yasu not offer to buy the whole family, they would not have obediently complied to Yasu.
After explaining their situation to Yasu and Gin, they all went to their new home. The family of servants lived in the side building, while Yasu and Gin lived in the main building.
Yasu began teaching his new servants the art of tea while the construction of the bath house and store was being built. After three month, the private tea house opened silently without fanfare.
