Once the imperial ships vanished, (Y/n) pushed herself off the floor and stood up. She stared up at the sky where the ships once were, thoughts racing to Prompto. She bit her bottom lip in anger before placing her fingers in her mouth and summoning Limos. Her steed manifested directly in front of her and she hopped on her back. "To Gralea as fast as you can go, Li-Li!"

Limos reared with a neigh before storming off. (Y/n) held onto her mane, lowering her body across the horse's back to prevent from falling off. Her golden hair whipped in the breeze as they managed to catch up to the three drop ships. Limos slowed her speed to keep up with the empire in order to follow them all the way to the capital.

The drop ships had spotted her and the two not carrying Ardyn and Prompto released a horde of magitek troopers and soldiers. She summoned her blade and sliced through a few to create an opening large enough for Limos to pass through. Leaving the enemies behind, she continued to pursue the ships.

Dispelling her blade, she created a large fireball and tossed it at one of two ships that she knew didn't contain Prompto. With the single shot, she ignited the engine and watched it explode, taking the entire ship with it. The drop ship plummeted to the ground before it slammed into the dirt with another thunderous explosion.

Repeating the process, (Y/n) eliminated the second drop ship with a sigh. "Gods, I'm turning into War..." She kept her eyes focused on the remaining ship, formulating a plan. While trying to hash one out, she kept wondering why Prompto gave himself up so easily. Pushing the thought to the back of her mind, she maneuvered her body until she was now standing on Limos' back. The horse jumped as high as she could, granting Famine the distance she needed to reach the soaring ship.

With her own powerful jump, the Horseman leapt off her steed and gripped onto the side of the ship. Limos kept her fast pace below, ready to catch her rider when she planned to jump off the ship. Using a small amount of mana to cover her hand in flames, she placed it against the metal and felt it melt under her fiery touch.

The moment the hole was large enough for her to climb through, she tried to enter the ship but was stopped by a large sword piercing her in the side. She cried out in pain, eliciting a dark chuckle from Ardyn as he watched the blade pierce her body from inside the drop ship.

(Y/n)'s eyes darted to her left, eyeing the creature that stabbed her. "Now you make another damn appearance!" She hissed, recognizing the Phantom Knight. She summoned her sword and jammed it into the monster's body before yanking her own off its jagged blade. She delivered a powerful kick, sending the Knight to the ground below. It recovered quickly and took flight, its blazing eyes focused solely on her. She mentally cursed before it plowed its body against hers, ripping a large hole in the side of the drop ship.

"Oh, my," (Y/n) heard Ardyn gasp in feign shock. "Seems your hands are quite full at the moment, my dear."

(Y/n)'s eyes met Prompto's fearful ones before darting back to the chancellor. "You won't win," she grunted, blocking the Knight's blade with her own as it had her pinned to the floor of the ship. With the monster's strength, it pushed her body through the floor of the ship. They fell to the ground, continuing their struggle. The Horseman watched helplessly as the drop ship vanished. Anger flooding her veins, she screamed and kicked the Knight with both feet, sending it stumbling backwards and falling over its own feet.

Jumping to her feet, Famine charged at the Phantom Knight and impaled her blade as deep as it could go into its body. The sharp blade pierced the sable armor and passed through the monster's body with ease. (Y/n) kept pushing until she felt her blade lodge into the ground below its body. Releasing the sword, she placed both hands on the monster's body.

The Phantom Knight howled in pain as its sable armor crumbled away into dust, revealing its muscular and fleshy body underneath. The bones in its body began to protrude from the muscle as it slowly disintegrated into nothingness. As the muscle and flesh vanish, all that's left of the Knight is a pile of ash.

(Y/n) sighed and fell to her knees before falling onto her side. "Hate using that..." The Touch of Starvation was one of Famine's most powerful abilities. It could kill any organic life form within seconds, but it took most of her mana to use it. Now that she had, she felt exhausted and couldn't budge an inch.

Breathing heavily, she closed her eyes for a few seconds before reopening them. "Li-Li...?" Limos appeared by her side and lowered her head. She nudged her muzzle against her rider's head. Feebly, (Y/n) reached up and petted her. "We need... to..."

Before she could finish her sentence, her voice trailed off as her world was consumed in darkness.

<-----------<<<<<<<<<

The entirety of Prompto's body ached. The cuts across his face and the metal restraints cutting into his wrists and ankles were what caused the most pain. He lowered his head in defeat after minutes of struggling to get free. Even if he could, the cell door was locked and he'd still be trapped. His mind was only filled with his friends and (Y/n), hoping they would come to his rescue.

"Prompto?" A gentle and familiar voice called out to him.

The blonde's eyes widen as his head shot up. Standing outside the cell was (Y/n). She gripped the bars in her hands, eyes wide with heartache.

He felt his hope skyrocket as he struggled against his restraints while calling out to her. He yanked in a desperate attempt to slip his hands and feet free of the cold metal straps, but his hope was short-lived when the girl outside the cell released a maniacal cackle. Prompto stopped struggling, eyes glued to the Horseman.

"You honestly think I'd come here to save you?" She scoffed. "You're not worth it. Once I've eliminated my targets, I'll head back to the Inner Sanctum and forget all about you."

Prompto felt tears stream down his cheeks as he listened to her. He lowered his head, heart shattering into millions of pieces. With another maniacal laugh, (Y/n) vanished abruptly just as she appeared. During his struggle, he had knocked something out of his pocket. He heard it hit the floor, but he ignored it and hung his head, once again, in defeat. He closed his eyes and didn't open them for a couple more hours.

When the boy did, he spotted the item that had fallen out of his pocket. It was the summoning orb. Prompto knew Ardyn had taken something out of his pocket, but neither he nor the chancellor spared the object a second glance. He remembered the silver chocobo (Y/n) had given him and knew the man must've grabbed it instead of the orb.

When the orb suddenly began rolling and clanking against the cell door, Prompto watched in confusion. There was no breeze in the cell block therefore there was no way the artifact could be moving. Some unknown force was causing it to roll.

It rolled toward him and circled around the metal device restraining him. He tried to watch it as it circled him mysteriously, but it was difficult with how he was strapped to the device. It traveled over to the back left corner of the cell where Prompto could no longer see it when it stopped moving, the object now hidden in the dark shadows. An odd sense of hope rushed over him when he saw the orb rolling around, but now that it came to a stop, he felt it dwindle. Whatever or whoever was causing the orb to move was familiar with the artifact and knew it wasn't from this world.

Another hour passed by before Ardyn made his way to the cell block in order to taunt Prompto relentlessly about (Y/n), Noctis, Gladio, and Ignis. By his smug tone and the way he talked about the orb, the boy knew the chancellor had yet to figure out what was in his pocket was really a silver chocobo charm. In actuality, he wanted it back since it was a handmade gift from (Y/n). He let his mind run rampant and show him the false images of her, but he held on to a shred of hope that she would never truly abandon him.

By the time Ardyn left the cell block, the orb rolled from out of the corner and crashed into the side of the metal device.

"What is going on?" Prompto muttered as he continued to watch the object roll around his cell before suddenly jumping a few times and escaping his cell. "W-Wait!" He cried out to object regardless of the fact it was an inanimate object that couldn't hear him. It continued to roll down the hall and rounded the corner, disappearing out of sight.

Prompto became frantic and concerned that the chancellor would find the orb and use it to try and get ahold of (Y/n). He fought against the restraints once again, more desperate than ever. He grunted while tugging and pulling at his arms and legs, but the straps didn't budge.

Staring down the hall, he waited for a telltale sign of Ardyn returning, holding both the summoning orb and the chocobo charm. Fortunately, he was greeted with the sight of the artifact rolling back towards his cell. "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon..." He muttered as a small motivation for the inanimate object.

It cruised back towards Prompto, bouncing every few seconds. It leapt back into his cell and stopped right in front of him. When he waited for it to do something else, it didn't budge. The boy sighed, eyes downcast. "Guess it was nothing..."

"Dammit!" (Y/n) cursed. "I can feel it, but we're still too far away. Think we can get a little closer to the Keep?"

Limos trotted carefully towards Zegnautus keep. They were able to avoid detection from the myriads of MTs and soldiers prowling the perimeter. As they reached the outer walls of the large, towering building, (Y/n) felt a powerful tug. "Ah! Here's perfect!" She dismounted Limos and stared up at the Keep. "Aranea was right. The Gashadokuro is here. I can sense its presence. I just hope I warp somewhere away from it."

(Y/n) placed her hand on the wall in front of her, closing her eyes. She felt her body become light as her surroundings changed. When she opened her eyes, she was in a dimly lit cell block. She looked around with a heavy sigh and murmured under her breath. "Oh, great... Where the hell am I?" Spinning around, she spotted a figure in the cell at the end of the hallway. She crept towards the cell, unable to tell who it was behind the bars.

On her way down the hall, Famine checked the cells located along both walls in search of the summoning orb. When she drew closer to the cell at the end of the block, her eyes widened when she recognized who was trapped inside. "Prompto," she gasped. Grasping the cool bars, she immediately tugged on the cell door and found it was lock.

The boy didn't even raise his head to acknowledge who was trying to open the door, having completely lost hope after the orb had stopped moving nearly an hour ago. When he felt his body was free from the metal device and suddenly falling forward, his azure eyes widened. Two arms caught him before he crashed against the frigid floor.

(Y/n) fell to her knees with Prompto in her arms, her arms wrapped around his torso. "Oh, Six, Prom. Are you alright? Do you need a-a potion or-?"

"A-Are you real?" He asked weakly as he wound his arms around her smaller frame. "You're not something I'm imagining right now, right?"

"No," the Horseman responded gently, moving one of her hands to the back of his neck and twirling a few of his golden strands around her fingers. "I'm real. I'm... actually surprised how easy I was able to find you."

Prompto pulled away and unwrapped one of his arms from around (Y/n) to pick up the orb by his foot. "The orb's right here."

Famine pulled away but kept her arms around him. "I thought Ardyn took it?"

The blonde boy shook his head. "He, uh... took the chocobo charm, instead."

(Y/n) couldn't help but smile at his dejected expression. "I'll make you a new one. For now, we need to find your friends."

"Wait," Prompto stopped her before she could remove herself from his arms. "I... I never thought anyone would come for me..."

The girl frowned as she moved her hands to cup his cheeks. "Did you already forget what I said a couple days ago? I'll always be there for you even if you lose hope. And I know you'd do the same for me. You're never gonna be alone anymore." Prompto felt tears threatening to fall as he pulled (Y/n) flush against him, embracing her as if she would disappear the second he'd let go. Famine snakes her arms around his neck and places her lips on his cheek. "I love you way too much to leave you behind."

Prompto pulled away far enough in order to give her a proper kiss. He slammed his lips on hers and kissed her passionately. Their lips melded perfectly together as the kiss deepened.

The couple's blissful moment was ruined when a deep, ominous howl resounded throughout the entire Keep. (Y/n) stiffened in Prompto's embrace as she recognized the eerie sound. "The Gashadokuro." Her eyes brimmed with urgency. "We definitely need to find the others. They don't stand a chance against that thing."

Prompto nodded and accepted her help to get to his feet. He fought through the small wave of pain that crashed over his body, but it didn't go unnoticed by (Y/n). "Are you alright? I wish I had a curative for you."

"I'll be okay, (Y/n), but..." He glanced down at his empty hands. "I don't have a weapon."

Famine held out her hands, palms facing upward. She materialized a gun with a smirk on her face. "Hope this'll suffice."

Prompto's eyes sparkled at the sight of the gun. "Whoa..." He took the pistol from her and admired it. "This. Is. So. Cool!"

"You'd be surprised how many weapons War has at her disposal. You can keep this one, though. It's not one of her favorites and she won't miss it. She probably won't even notice it's gone."

"You are the best girlfriend ever!" Prompto wrapped one of his arms around her waist and pulled her into a side-hug, placing a chaste kiss on her cheek. "I love you so much!"

(Y/n) giggled. "Love you, too, Prom. Now let's find Noctis and the others."
