Chapter 8: Messaging

The car ride grew silent as Jungkook looked to Jimin again, making Jimin start to giggle as he turned to face Jungkook. "Stop staring at me like that! I know what you're thinking.." Jimin added as Jungkook tilted his head.

"What am I thinking then, Park?" Jungkook asked as Jimin made a turn in the road. Missing the last turn and resulting in a longer drive.

"About my arranged marriage." Jimin mentioned as he took a glimpse of the younger. "Isn't that right, Mr. Jeon?"

"Yes, it does make me question things..." Jungkook added and kept staring at the ring. "How did the two of you adjust to it?"

"That's a little too personal." Jimin giggled. Focusing on the road. "All you need to know is that, we live perfectly together and I'm glad our relationship pulled through." Jimin added with another smile. "No matter... How long it took to adjust, I wouldn't have it any other way."

Jungkook had many questions to still ask, but of course it was too personal to question so Jungkook tried to change the conversation. "Are you going to be taking me home everyday?" Jungkook wondered as Jimin shrugged.

"You don't have a car and I can't afford one of my team members staying behind for a day. So I'll be picking you up and dropping you off. If you are going to be a Marine Biologist, you need to learn all you can. Set aside life issues for this. Leave it at home and just bring your focus to the lab. You're pretty smart so you'll be just fine." Jimin concluded as Jungkook made a smile on his face. "What made you want to do Marine Biology?" Jimin questioned.

"I found it as a good career to pursue. I could explore and create things to help benefit the marine life.." Jungkook said causing Jimin to smile again.

"That's really good. I never took you as a person who would love to study such a thing... All my life I thought you would just be living with your parents forever or maybe begging on the streets."

"That's a little too tough, Mr. Park." Jungkook chuckled.

"Well, I really despised you in high school. You can't really expect me to think you were a friend of mines. You really made my days horrible." Jimin claimed and looked at Jungkook. "But I'm glad we could get along."

Very soon, Jimin pulled up at Jungkook's house and stopped the car to look at the younger. Jungkook took out his phone to look back at Jimin. "Can I have your number? You did say you would pick me up so I could tell you when I'm ready to go."

"Oh, yes." Jimin responded and leaned in to hold Jungkook's phone and put his number in the contacts. Jimin placed his name as "Mr. Park" and handed it back to Jungkook. "Done. Call me whenever you are ready in the morning." Jimin said as Jungkook gazed at the contact.

"Really? 'Mr. Park?' Now you seem like my boss."

"Well I am your mentor as long as you'll be an Intern. So, get use to calling me Mr. Park. I like that name. It gives me respect and power."

"But.. You call me Mr. Jeon. Wouldn't that mean I have power too?"

"No! I-It's just me." Jimin smiled and unlocked the passenger door. "I'll see you in the morning. Get a lot of sleep, we have research to do." Jimin added as Jungkook got out of the car and waved, making sure he took his jacket with him this time. Deep down, Jungkook knew he was going to be great friends with Jimin now. They put many things behind them now and this was such a good opportunity to grow closer. Tying the loose ends was what Jimin hoped for other than having an enemy on the team.

As Jimin was driving home, he soon received a text from Jungkook, wondering if he was home already. "Ah, this kid... He thinks I live just ten minutes away!" Jimin added as he knew better not to pick up the phone until he got home. It wasn't until a few minutes after, his phone chimed again. It was only natural Jungkook asked if Jimin reached home safely. It meant nothing but just a friendly text.

Jimin pulled up by his drive way and killed the engine as he stepped out of the car and held the keys in his hand. He then stopped and responded to Jungkook's message. Assuring he was home now. Jimin didn't believe this was weird, it was just a nice gesture to ensure his safety. The man walked into his house to set his coat down and see Yun-se was sleeping on the couch with just her attire from work. She was sleepy and didn't even bother to change out of her own clothes.

Jiming smiled a little as he stepped in and closed the door, locking it behind him to see Yun-se on the couch with a glass of wine on the floor. "Honestly, it's like I live with a child." Jimin chuckled and before he could wake up his wife, Jungkook texted again.

Mr. Jeon:
I normally wake up around five in the morning so I could start walking to work... At what time do you start getting ready for work so I'll be on time?

Jimin didn't bother to wake up his wife, rather he sat down next to her and started to text Jungkook and respond to his message.

______________Mr. Jeon________________

I get up around 5:50 AM. Then leave around 6:45 AM. Wake up on time because I don't want to be waiting for you. I also don't like being late for work.

Mr.Jeon:
I can tell you don't like showing up late. At what time. Are you going to bed?

It's 9:50PM now. I won't sleep until thirty minutes from now.

Mr. Jeon:
You manage your time wisely. I appreciate that. Well, I'll leave you at that. I know your wife needs you.

She's asleep and I think she was drinking a little. Poor girl. She's so adorable.

After Jimin sent his message, Jungkook read it and the man watched the dots pop up, showing he was typing an answer. But just remained silent and preferred not to respond. Jimin kept staring at the chat, waiting for a message in response. Just then, Yun-se batted her eyes open and sat up to look at Jimin with tired eyes.

"You're here so early..." Yun-se whispered and rubbed her eyes as Jimin swiftly looked away from his phone to shut it off and look at the woman. "O-Oh! I managed to finish work today."

        "Did you eat?"

"During break. Thanks for asking." Jimin sated as Yun-se stood up and rubbed the temples of her head. "Going to bed? Aren't you going to at least change out of that?"

"I'm going to work in the morning again. No point in changing out of this." Yun-se sighed and yawned after, taking out the pin that held up her brown silk hair into a bun and unbuttoned her dress shirt to just reveal her inner white tank top. "Don't stay up too late.."

"You're always so tired, do you need tea?"

"No.. I need a bed." Yun-se laughed sleepily as Jimin grinned and watched his wife walk to the bedroom. Moments like these were always like this and the couple were always too busy to spend time together even after work. Yun-se worked in her office all day with clients for cases, so she of course had to do a little digging for evidence. Jimin, worked all day researching, reading and writing formulas and such, not really having time for his wife when he gets home. Mostly because Yun-se worked so hard at her job.

Jimin unlocked his phone and continued to stare at the chat, still waiting on a response from Jungkook. "I know that idiot isn't asleep." Jimin whispered and let out a laugh. "That's disrespectful. Not going to respond to my text...." Jimin said to himself and let out a sigh. Taking off his tie and tipped his glasses down, staring at his phone the whole time. It wasn't until later on the night, He changed into his sleep attire and stepped into the room to see his wife just laying on the bed with her arms and legs spreaded out and her face was buried into the mattress.

Jimin smiled as he climbed onto the bed and moved her aside gently. That's when, Jungkook finally responded. Jimin sat down on the spot next to his wife and opened the chat he was having with Jungkook while Yun-se turned over to sleep on Jimin's chest.

______________Mr. Jeon________________

Mr. Jeon:
Goodnight.

?? Now you want to respond?

Mr.Jeon:
well I figured you should have spent time with your wife. So I left you alone.

She was asleep. You must really like to leave people unanswered. I never came across someone who would do that.

Mr. Jeon:
Not really shocking. Everyone does it 😂

You're very rude, Mr. Jeon.

Mr.Jeon:
I take that as a compliment.

By the time I reach your house, I better see you outside by the porch. If I'm going to show up late, I'm not going to pick you up again!

Mr.Jeon:
Yes, Yes okay, Boss.

Another name?

Mr.Jeon:
Rather fitting. Alright, I'll see you tomorrow. Goodnight and this time I mean it.

Goodnight! ⭐

Jimin kept a smile on his face while he texted. He always wondered how it felt to finally text Jungkook. Becoming team members and throughout the small and short days they got along, Jimin was happy he could respond to the younger with no more fear, but just a kind and respectful conversation between two adults. Jimin kept his eyes on the chat as he took off his glasses, set his phone to charge and took off his wedding ring to set it on the bedside table. Unaware that Yun-se was watching him and seeing him text Jungkook before. Scolding the younger for leaving him ignored.

Yun-se was a little jealous Jungkook, Jimin's bully from highschool and a boy that had no connection with Jimin whatsoever, had great contact and was able to communicate more than she could with her own husband. This made Yun-se feel a little upset, but she knew not to jump to any conclusions. At least..not yet.
