Chapter 66: Underneath it all

The sea was calm, it was the right temperature to dive in and the skies above were bright and stained a baby blue color with fluffy clouds above. The lovely couple dove back first into the water, feeling the slightly cold water rub against their suits and their skin. Jimin opened his eyes and looked around underwater to finally see the beautiful ocean floor. There was ocean sculptures for the coral that consisted of historical people that were famous in Mexico. Sugar skull sculptures and a huge structure of an axolotl.

Jimin fixed his eyes on the younger who grabbed his hand happily and locked eyes with Jimin's before swiming forward with him to observe at the huge structures of dark or bright corals planted on every detail. Just exploring the ocean floor had figures afar and close by like an underwater museum for corals.

Tightly, the younger held Jimin's hand so he wouldn't wander off. He longed to experience the beautiful ocean floors and dropping his eyes down to look at the many bright corals they would help out on their time here. Jungkook gazed at Jimin and the beautiful corals surrounding his boyfriend, believing that Jimin grew even more attractive in his eyes every day. He could feel his love grow for Jimin and his heart pound by the second while they swam through the structures of coral.

As the two passed through the structures of coral together, they knew when would be the time to turn around and leave, yet, the aisles of the structures called to them and Jungkook was drawn to keep swimming and looking at most of the artistic structures. Not even trying to risk going down at all and putting the air tank in danger of being punctured by any rock. They intertwined hands together and caught each other in their glimpse, causing the older pull a smile while he still kept the mouth piece in between his lips to breathe.

"He looks even more handsome underwater... Ugh if only I had contacts the first time we did this together. So I could remember how beautiful it must have been." Jimin said in his mind while he held tight to his lover. A bit far into the water, they noticed Yoongi swimming around a rock where Clownfishes rushed to their sea anemone to avoid the man. The couple approached the area Yoongi was exploring and gazed many school of fishes, stingrays and colored fishes ranging from light blue to orange scaled fish from all sizes.

Jimin placed his hand on a rock to see a sea crab crawl out and flexing it's claws in a way to show Jimin that he was in his territory.

After a while of exploring the ocean floor, Jungkook picked up an orange and slightly pink conch shell and swam up with Jimin to leave the ocean floor. They were allowed to pick up shells since those were harmless. So, Jungkook picked one for Jimin as a souvenir of their first expedition abroad. Knowing that there would be more trips in the future, he wanted Jimin to remember the first time they spent together in the beautiful island of Cozumel.

Jimin climbed out of the water with his gear and took off the mouth piece and goggles to finally breathe air out in the surface while the scent of salted water filled his nose. "Ah, it was so beautiful down there!" Jimin said happily while Seokjin popped up to the surface, yet he was a bit far from the speedboat. Which resulted in him having to swim over to the boat quickly.

"It was way more better finally knowing you could see it instead of squirming around and blinking your eyes at everything to try and look when you can't even see." Jungkook laughed and took off his gear with help of others and rose his goggles above his forehead to hold his drenched hair back. The younger then looked at the conch shell he held in his hands and gave it to Jimin. "Here you go~"

"There were conch shells?!" Jimin asked excitingly while his eyes glistened by gazing at the beautiful conch that had many colors from orange as the outer shell and the inner was pink and slowly dyed into a purple inside. "It's beautiful.." Jimin said in awe and looked at the conch shell happily. This made Jungkook hold a smile on his face as he took off the rest of his gear.

"Now when we get back, do we have to make the mixture for the corals?" The younger wondered while Yoongi walked up and took off his mouth piece that helped him breathe.

"Yup! Non-stop working for us. While you both get the mixture done, Seokjin and I will have to work on the sculpture we will help the team here out with." Yoongi sighed and face palmed after. "You both have it good."

"Not really, it has to be perfect or else it could hurt the coral." Jimin told the older and this made Yoongi chuckle and step forward to the man and fold his arms.

"Well, do you know what doesn't have to be perfect so I can hurt you? My fist..." Yoongi laughed and patted Jimin's shoulder, causing the man to flinch in fear. "Don't worry, I won't hurt a fly..." Teased the older as he approached Seokjin who was already boarding the boat.

"Kookie! I'm in danger and you stood there laughing?!" Jimin argued and looked at his lover with a pout.

"He may seem scary but he can't chase after you if you run." Jungkook added and smiled at Jimin to place his hand over his shoulder. "Anyways... I have an idea."

"What is it?" The older wondered and kept his focus glued onto the beautiful shell he loved to look at.

"I think we should have our date here. Go out to the beach, go out and eat together or just go shopping! We could do this together. It seems so perfect for us to go on a date." Jungkook suggested and kept his eyes locked at his lover. "Yes or no? It'll be fun." Jungkook stated and watched Jimin reunite their gaze.

"On our very first public date? I would love that. Maybe in a week or so? That's when we have our first day off. We can go shopping or even go out to get dinner after the whole day. It seems like a good idea so of course!" Jimin added excitingly. The thought of going out in public for their first date outside of his marriage made Jimin smile and grow ecstatic for the next week to come.

"Alright then. In a week we'll go out in our date, then we could come home and-"

"Don't you dare even finish off that sentence, Jungkook!" Jimin giggled as he closed his eyes in laughter.

"...Baby! I'm not even talking about that!" Jungkook said and placed his hands over Jimin's shoulder. "Ah, what's wrong with you!" The younger continued to laugh as Jimin face palmed. "I meant come home and lay in bed together but I guess you can take that sexual too!"

"Ah, shut it!" Jimin said as he laughed and still held the conch shell close in his hands. Not wanting to place down the beautiful shell for even a split second.

Soon, the speedboat returned to shore and the biologists went back to change after drying themselves on their time there. Jungkook had to follow Jimin back to the lab where they were supplied with the right acids and substances to recreate the mixture they made with their formula. Jimin set out the glassed bottles and flasks that contained the things to use in the formula as he wore his goggles, an apron and gloves as Jungkook did the same as well.

To Jungkook, this came as a big nostalgic moment where he looked back at the first time he was making the mixture with Jimin in the chemical chamber back in Korea. The younger watched Jimin set out the briefcase and place the pages of formula all over the table while the gaze Jungkook had over the older shifted to the formula in seconds.

"You can do it again, right?" Jimin asked as Jungkook nodded his head and examined the papers once more to refresh his memory.

"It's been so long since we've last done this. Ah, you used to hate me so much it was difficult to pitch in with you doubting my knowledge every second." Jungkook stated and picked up a flask and a pipet to start adding in the harmless acid into the mixture. "Do you still think about high school?"

"No and I only gave you a hard time because you gave me a hard time back then. So it was my revenge." Jimin replied and sauntered to the other side of the table to pay attention to how much acid the boy filled the pipet.

"You just made me feel bad." Jungkook said and smiled while he continued to make the mixture. "What's your ring size?"

"Oh it's- wait! No! I won't tell you it." Jimin claimed and gaped at the boy. "No wedding rings!"

"It wouldn't hurt to know~" Jungkook said with a mischievous smile on his face and kept his eyes locked onto the counter. Not wanting to pry his eyes away for one second.

"Don't worry about it. You won't get me any wedding ring! I won't accept it if you propose too soon." Jimin testified and folded his arms before stepping away from the counter.

"Wedding ring... Just the wedding ring... Right?" Jungkook whispered to himself and began to think in what way to get Jimin's ring size.

"It's too soon to think of marriage, My love. We haven't been together for so long."

"Oh Baby, love doesn't need to have patience until marriage. It may seem rushed in the eyes of others... But it all depends if you already know everything about your partner enough to say I do." Jungkook advised but Jimin just scoffed into a grin.

"Jungkook, there could be many things I don't know about you. You told me before that you aren't always perceived as a 'perfect' and 'flawless' man that does right by me. I want to see what you really feel." The older confessed and looked down at the conch shell he kept at the counter so he could look at it time to time.

"Oh Baby.... Are you saying I stage my sweet personality?" Jungkook then shared a laugh while he moved away from the mixture before he could spill it over his hand like before.

"I never said that." Jimin responded sweetly and cupped his own face while his elbows supported his arms up. "What I mean is, you're so sweet to me... It feels like you're scared of something... What is it?"

"Well, I'm not going to lie on that one. I do this because I really do love you. But yet again, I want to show you love." Said the boy, ambling over to the counter once more just to stir the mixture. "You being in that marriage didn't show you anything. So, it's up to me to treat you like this... But I also do it in fear that I might lose you. Such a stupid thing to say, right? Losing you to something even if I can't really tell the future enough to say you'll be by my side forever."
