Chapter 58: Let's talk
Jimin thought it was stupid of him to think of this as some random children situation to make a big fuss about. Yet, losing a friend like Seokjin was enough to make Jimin hear his own heart pound from the anxiety. He realized that he would be feeling like this the day he confesses to Yun-se. But by now, Jimin felt like he has dragged this for as long as possible now.
Jimin stepped up and gazed at Seokjin while Yoongi opened the small can of cat food for Muffin to eat out of while Yoongi carried a bottle of water to give Muffin after like she was his daughter. That's how much, Yoongi looked after the small calico cat. Jungkook knew what was bound to happen but all he did was smile and look down at Yoongi, crouching down and feeding the cat with his adorable smile that showed his gums on his teeth.
"Jin.." Jimin said as he looked at his friend with a smile he forced on himself so he wouldn't look so nervous.
"Yes, Jimin?" Seokjin asked and parted his view from the small cat.
"I need to talk to you in private... It's serious..." Jimin answered and at this moment, Seokjin began to wonder about what it could be, was there something wrong with the project? The cruise? Or even the food that was being sold? Yet, he didn't know that Jimin was about to tell him something he had to keep from his close friend. The two walked by the rails of the boat where Jimin gazed at the ocean and folded his hands while he rested his arms along the rail. Trying to make it obvious that he wasn't wearing his wedding ring.
"What do you need to talk about?" Seokjin asked as Jimin looked down at his hands and back at Seokjin.
"Do you see... Anything different from my hands?"
"Let me guess, did they finally grow an inch or two?" The older joked and made Jimin giggle and throw his head down while he laughed. Trying to calm himself into a serious tone so he could focus.
"No! Just look." Jimin added as he held up his left hand and took out his wedding ring with his other. "I'm not wearing my ring here...."
"W-Why not?" Jin asked growing a little serious at the moment.
"Because... As others said... You can't wear this ring if your heart beats for another..." Jimin stated as Seokjin took a moment to process.
"Jimin... I know I'm handsome, but I have someone. I'm sorry you had to find out this way-"
"No, Jin! I don't love you, I love... Jeon Jungkook..." Jimin whispered and placed the ring in his pocket to grab Jin by his hands and calm him down before he starts shouting like a pregnant woman giving labor.
"AH-" Seokjin began to shout, but Jimin was quick to throw his hand over the older's lips to silence him. "MMH-?!"
"C-Calm down.. I-I thought this would be easy... But it's so difficult! I know I'm married to Yun-se and you must think our relationship is perfect. It's not... It's an arranged marriage and you know that. I never loved her as much as I love Jungkook now!" Jimin continued to fight for his claim until Seokjin pushed Jimin's hand away from his mouth that silenced him.
"You... and Yun-se... Didn't you feel anything for her? For all those years you've been married with her... Not even the first night on your honeymoon?" Jin questioned Jimin in disbelief. "How long have you been with Jungkook under all of this?"
"Quite some time now... A month or so? Ah, this is so tough to talk about..." Jimin said feeling slightly embarrassed. "Being forced into an arranged marriage is so tough for me! It's like grabbing you and Yoongi to marry right on the spot! You have no say in anything... Neither does your future partner. You're dragged to the dressing room to fit your Hanbok while your future partner is fitting for theirs... Feeling embarrassed that the simple and friendly bond the two of you had would be no more and you both are just... Just shoved to marry for money!" Jimin spoke and each word stuck Seokjin like beats on a drum.
"Jimin.."
"I feel horrible... But at the same time I feel free! I was assumed to marry a woman when I couldn't even find the right person for me... All my life I've been saving my heart for someone who was going to help pick it up for me when I felt down or make my heart just throb with the love I was given! Yun-se, she never made me feel happy... Jungkook did and I know you could see it... Please don't tell me I'm some manipulative and disgusting cheater if you can't put yourself in my shoes..." Jimin said and let out a sigh from all those words he just spilled onto Seokjin and awaited for his words. But as the two grew silent... Jimin felt the need to ask Seokjin on why he grew so silent. "Seokjin... Can you say something.. Please? You're my closest friend..." Jimin added and tried to hold back the waterworks.
"Do you think I would call you a 'disgusting cheater' for holding in something you can't control? To me... I don't see it as you cheating. Others may see it as that but yes, I did put myself in your shoes and I understood. I always wondered why you and Yun-se teared up at the same time on your traditional wedding day. You both were like dolls just squeezed into those hanboks to kiss and slide a ring on each other's fingers to say those words and make each other bound for life. Yet, I never realized that the two of you never loved each other. I could only imagine the way you treated yourself or the tears you've cried when you realized you loved Jungkook... But that ring on you finger just reminded you of tall and grim prison walls." The older concluded and Jimin just couldn't hold back the tears.
Jimin wiped his own tears and let out a chuckle while he wiped them. "It's such a stupid thing to cry about. For the longest, I thought you were going to grab the ring and force it back onto my finger or just ignore me like my parents." Jimin said but Jin just shook his head and made a smile while his eyes only gleamed with the tears just begging to flow.
"I'm your best friend. Not your rich and greedy parents. No offense." Seokjin laughed and gave his friend a hug. "I would tell you to be careful so Yun-se or anyone else wouldn't catch you and Jungkook so close together...I even suspected something was up when I noticed the two of you were absent to work. Yoongi does a good job on distracting me and driving me off the road when I know something isn't right." The older smiled as he pulled away from the hug. "I understand you. These are your feelings and you don't have to hide your first time at love because of that ring."
"Oh thank goodness! I'm so tired and frustrated from Jet lag... But I'm also happy you could agree with me and tell me that everything is going to be just fine." Jimin said, finally smiling. If this was Seokjin's response.. It would feel great to be able to talk to Yun-se about this. Now, Jimin didn't know the feelings Yun-se felt towards him, but he was sure that the 'spark' they had between each other was dying out. Yet, he still had to call her, text her and video chat with her just to procrastinate until he gets there to tell her face to face on what he really felt deep down.
"So, are you going to tell Yun-se?" Seokjin happened to ask as soon as Jimin was thinking about it.
"After this whole trip. It's better to talk face to face... And if we could understand each other, we can talk to our parents, it could go both ways. If they agree... We would just get the divorce and I could be with Jungkook! But, if they decline it then, I guess Yun-se and I could get the divorce on our own and live different lives after. Still be friends I hope." Jimin replied and smiled. Finally feeling free from his ring even if it's just for the trip. Talking to Seokjin about it made the man feel confident within himself.
"I hope the best for you. You must have been suffering for all these years! But don't worry, we're here to support you." Seokjin added as he yawned after. "I hate that this is another time zone... We are set a day back!" The older man complained while he walked off with Jimin to join Yoongi and Jungkook once more.
"I see you all talk behind my back. That's cool." Yoongi joked around, already being filled in by Jungkook in what the two were talking about. By the smile on Jimin's face, Jungkook could tell that the two talked it out and didn't argue about it once!
"Yes we did, hand over the can of soda, I'm parched! Too much talking left me dehydrated." Jin laughed and sat next to Yoongi and Muffin tucked away in his jacket. "I think... You are too attatched to that cat, Lil meow meow."
"What cat?" Yoongi asked with a smile. Tuning his body away while Jungkook decided to sit on another bench with Jimin and leaving the other two to argue again. But playfully.
Jungkook guided Jimin to another bench and sat down, reaching over Jimin's glasses and pulling them away so he could dry the small clouds he shed from his tears. The younger smiled while Jimin dropped down next to Jungkook and looking around in a blur until the younger finally placed the glasses back over Jimin's eyes.
"I could see that you cried. Hm, Four eyes?" Jungkook asked with a smirk after watching the older giggle and cup his red and puffy nose that showed he was crying earlier.
"I cried when I told him because I thought I was going to lose a close friend like him. Turns out I'm pretty stupid." Jimin giggled again while Jungkook took out two chocolate bars from his pocket since Jimin bought it before.
"You're anything but stupid." Jungkook laughed while Jimin accepted the bar of Hershey's milk chocolate king sized bar.
"You love to compliment me even when I'm already happy. That's another thing I love about you. Always make me smile." Jimin said as Jungkook read the words 'king size' on the bar.
"King.. Size.. Hmph this isn't king sized. I should know, right Baby?~" Jungkook asked as Jimin looked down at the center of the younger's pants and swiftly shoved him to let out a laugh from Jungkook's dirty joke.
"I can't eat anything with you!" Jimin laughed while he turned his body away, shunning the younger and allowing Jungkook to throw his arms around Jimin and pull him into a back hug followed by giggles and Jungkook's small pecks on Jimin's neck. Unafraid to show everyone that they were happily together in public now.
