Chapter 18: Up all night

Jimin drove the younger home, still having his hand locked under Jungkook's grasp and this made the younger smile every time he gazed out the window throughout the long drive.

Jimin began to feel nervous while he drove Jungkook home, he could feel the younger gripping slightly tighter when Jimin tried to pull his hand away. There was no point in escaping this. But of course, to Jimin, he had the small doubt of escaping now. Jungkook hovered his hand over Jimin's and made a smile to himself. He could feel Jimin slightly grow nervous through it all and Jungkook only longed to hold on until the younger reached home.

The car pulled up by Jungkook's house and the younger then looked at Jimin while he held the older's hand still in his grasp.

"I'll see you tomorrow morning?" Jungkook asked as Jimin nodded, before Jimin knew it, Jungkook leaned in closer and Jimin started to panic. Was Jungkook moving in for another kiss? Jungkook moved in closer, removing his hand from Jimin's lock and placed his arms around Jimin to hold him close into a hug.

Jimin blinked his eyes as his glasses were suddenly pressed up against his face and all he could do was sit there and slowly raise his hands up to hug the younger back. Jimin knew Jungkook wouldn't pull away until he received a hug in return so, Jimin hugged the younger and closed his eyes voluntarily as Jungkook smiled happily into the hug. "Jimin... I'll wait for you, okay? Take your time to figure out what you want." Jungkook said as he slightly moved back to look at Jimin in his eyes.

The atmosphere around them was warm even if the cold air was running out of the car vent, there was the scent that filled Jimin's nose of pepperoni pizza and Jungkook's choice of cologne since he was close enough to want to kiss Jimin again.

"Jungkook... You're making me choose my lifestyle because of a kiss?" Jimin questioned the younger as Jungkook looked at Jimin while his glasses held a gleam through the reflection.

"Jimin, I'm trying to help you realize many things now... Things you've never been familiar with before and that was confronting your feelings. Throughout this whole arranged marriage... Have you faced them? No.. You haven't. I want you to realize that it's okay to hear them out. Speak for what you want inside. Okay?" Jungkook concluded. He looked at Jimin's forehead and brushed his bang aside, leaning in closer to kiss Jimin's forehead gently. This made the corners of Jimin's lips slightly pull into a smile as Jungkook looked down at the older once more. "So when I said I'll wait... I'll wait."

"O-Oh... Okay." Jimin responded in a stutter, suddenly growing nervous since Jungkook still had him so close to his embrace. "Goodnight?"

"Goodnight, Park Jimin. See you tomorrow." Jungkook added as he took off his seat belt, reaching to the back of the seats, grabbing the box of pizza and leaving the car after. Jimin didn't even bother to pull off until he knew Jungkook would manage to get inside safely. That's when Jimin knew he could leave, yet, he never did this before so why would he now?

Jimin drove back home after and his hand was still placed over the armrest like he could feel the younger still holding his hand again. Jimin's bangs were still parted aside and his forehead was exposed. Just the way Jungkook left him when he gave him a gentle peck on his head. The sensation made Jimin's face grow pink just like before when Jungkook and him shared a gentle kiss at the park. This made Jimin contemplate, what if he allowed Jungkook in his life? These were just questions from the void Jimin tended to dismiss, all of the time... But for once, he thought on it more.

Jimin reached home as he closed the door behind him and tossed his things onto the floor, looking up to see that the kitchen light was left on so when Jimin arrives home, he wouldn't have to run to a nearby light switch to turn it on. He didn't like the dark so Yun-se always left one light on when Jimin was to come home. Jimin looked around at the dimmed living room as he walked over to the kitchen and turned off the light, taking out his phone to flash a light to find his way to the bedroom.

Jimin stepped in the room to see Yun-se thrown onto the bed carelessly to sleep. This made Jimin look at his wife and walk over to the bed to sit. Not bothering to change out of his clothes. He sat down next to Yun-se, taking off his glasses, sitting along the edge of the bed and removed his ring after. Placing it on the table silently. Jimin then layed his back against the headboard and looked at the blurry ceiling he would always gaze at to think.

Yun-se knew Jimin was home, she placed her hand over Jimin's hand and still kept her eyes closed to sleep. But Jimin stared at the hand contact silently. At this moment, he looked back at the kiss, the assuring smiles Jungkook gave him and the wonderful night they had together. Jimin liked to say he enjoyed it, of course he'd be lying if he said he didn't. The man had the slightest uncomfortable feeling among him during the kiss and hand hold since he knew he would still have to wear the ring after. Showing him something he enjoyed only to be taken away the next second.

With all these thoughts swarming around Jimin's head, the man didn't go to sleep at all... Just thinking of the night repeatedly. Apparently, Jungkook was still going to wait for him no matter what and this even made Jimin stress on the issue even more. What could he do for Jungkook if he was already married?

The next morning, Jimin woke up from a one hour nap. He was up all night and it even showed! Jimin sat up and rubbed his eyes as Yun-se was fixing her hair, looking at Jimin and tilting her head as she looked at him through the reflection.

"Good morning, My prince." Yun-se said with a smile as she tied the bun on her head and held up the sharp side of the comb and parted her bangs and made a messy bun.

"Good morning.." Jimin said and looked at the ground. For a moment, he wished he didn't have to go to work and research all day, but he had to do it no matter what because if he doesn't go, Jungkook wouldn't go to work either.

"Did you get enough sleep?  At what time did you get home?" Yun-se worried as Jimin turned his head to face his wife.

"I got here around 11PM?" Jimin said in a question. Growing unsure. He stood up and walked over to the bathroom so he could get ready for work. He left the door open as he began to brush his teeth and look at the mirror, gazing up at his bags under his eyes.

"You would have six to seven hours of sleep, Jimin. What were you doing up?" The worried wife asked her tired husband.

"Thinking..." Jimin added as Yun-se noticed Jimin didn't even grab his glasses.

"Of what? It should be serious if it kept you up all night."

"I was thinking... Of... You. What would happen if I have to leave for months for my next project? You'll be left with your mother... She'll find out about your job." Jimin lied. He did a good job at lying to the point where Yun-se actually believed him.

"You don't have to worry about that, Jimin.... I'll be fine. I can handle a little punishment from Mother. Last time she placed a book over my head because I mentioned getting a job. Ugh, wasn't the best." Yun-se then giggled and patted Jimin's hair and walked out of the bathroom. "Wear a face mask and see if that helps!"

Jimin listened to his wife's words. He felt bad that his lips touched someone else's than hers. The one he was bound to. But when Jungkook kissed Jimin, his inner thoughts painted a world where the ring never sat on his finger... Rather, he was free like the birds in the sky. Where no one else would stop him there. Jimin shook away those thoughts from right and wrong, seperating them from real or fake. He knew his feelings weren't always on board when it came to his relationship... But it was worth a try to give it some time.

"Don't wear this ring if your heart beats for another..." Jimin thought in his head as he placed on his glasses and looked at his golden ring that prisoned him when he was just nineteen years old. Just when he came of age, he was hitched with his best friend he hoped to stay as friends... Not become a married couple at the end. Jimin never got to hear Yun-se's thoughts on the marriage and he couldn't share his. It was a sin to talk bad about his marriage... But Jimin just couldn't stop thinking about it! It was the endless calls from the void that asked him daily, 'Are you sure?'

Jimin left the house after he hugged his wife goodbye and she did the same, telling him she loved him as Jimin returned the words blindly. Jimin went to the car and started it as he looked back, beginning to pull the car out of the drive way as he thought of the way Jungkook had his hand over his last night and his lips locked with his. "I'll wait." Jungkook's voice echoed in his head and Jimin couldn't help but to think of the younger again as he began to drive.

Jimin soon reached Jungkook's house, suddenly beggining to feel sleepy as his eye lids grew heavy. "Fuck... I-I can't sleep now.. I still need to drive to work!" Jimin hissed to himself as he tapped his head against the steering wheel, unknowingly honking on the wheel as he flinched and looked around with high alert. Jungkook happened to see this and laughed as he stepped up from the porch and hurried to the car where Jimin awaited him.

"Goodmorning, Mr. Park." Jungkook said as he sat in his usual seat by Jimin and looked at the older while he hesitated to put on his seatbelt. "Jimin? You don't look so good..." Jungkook added as he noticed Jimin was really sleepy to the point where it didn't look safe for him to drive. "Were you up all night?"

"Y-Yes.." Jimin answered and shook his head swiftly to stay awake. "Don't worry about it. I can drive." Jimin said as he started the car, but Jungkook quickly yanked the keys from the dashboard and shut off the car. Looking back at the older man. "Jungkook... Stop and let me drive!" Jimin scolded the boy as he yawned after. "You stubborn brat..."

"Mhm... Stubborn." Jungkook repeated as he fixed his glasses and stepped out of the car to walk over to the driver's side of the car and pull Jimin's door open. "Move. I'm driving."

"N-No... I can manage..." Jimin said in a weak and sleepy tone to his voice as he reached for the inner handle to shut the door but Jungkook quickly took off Jimin's seatbelt and brought Jimin into his arms to take him off the seat. Jimin layed his head on Jungkook's chest again and looked up at the younger in silence while he could feel his eyes slowly close due to how gentle and calm it felt in Jungkook's arms.

Warm, gentle and safe was what Jimin felt in the arms of the younger who stood there and took off Jimin's glasses so he could rest. Jungkook took Jimin to the backseat, taking off his own jacket to place over Jimin like a blanket. It looked very big over Jimin's body and this made the younger smile as he watched Jimin get comfortable to take a nap on the backseats of his car. Jungkook took it upon himself to drive while he set Jimin's glasses safely above the cavity on the center of the dashboard so it wouldn't get ruined and of course, he was sure to remove the ring too so Jimin could sleep with ease.
