Chapter 11: Mother-in-law

Jungkook looked into Jimin's eyes and then glided his gaze down to Jimin's phone that kept vibrating now. Jimin silenced the call and looked at Jungkook. "So anyways, where should we go to hang out?"

"...Jimin, aren't you going to answer that?" Jungkook wondered as Jimin shook his head. "Is there something in between you and your wife?" Jungkook wondered as Jimin shook his head and folded his arms on the table to lay his head down while talking to Jungkook.

"I'm not trying to ignore her... She stayed at home today because her Mother is coming to visit and I know it's Mrs. Lee calling me. Yun-se would barely call me at work because she knows I work hard. The only time she calls is when her Mother is forcing her to bond with her husband." Jimin claimed and rolled his eyes.

"She is your Mother-in-law. The Mother of Yun-se and the boss of you when it comes to the relationship. Do you really want to risk losing Yun-se?" Jungkook asked. He sounded very blank to the response. Almost like he didn't care but only made it seem like he worried about Jimin's relationship. When it was obvious he wasn't very happy towards it due to it being nothing but a forced marriage.

"It's just a call." Jimin added as he looked up at Jungkook. "The worst that Mother can do to me is tell me I'm not even worthy enough to sleep in the same room as Yun-se. It happened before and it was when I made Kimchi wrong. She stayed in the same room as Yun-se while I slept in the living room. I didn't like this but she wants us to be a perfect couple." Jimin claimed and rolled his eyes. "She's a pain but I have to respect her."

"She should show you respect too.. She chose you to marry her daughter."

"My parents agreed to the arranged marriage... So we had no say in anything. We were best friends. Never wanted to marry each other. But there's nothing wrong with learning to love each other anyways. That's how life is." Jimin sighed as Jungkook kept looking at Jimin. Jungkook knew this was wrong. Of course, he couldn't say anything about it since this was common.

"I can see that..." Jungkook responded and didn't add onto anything. But to Jimin, he wanted Jungkook to at least say something. Jimin had a little bit more to vent out but the room fell into silence and as so did Jimin's mind on the matter. "So I think we should hang out at night maybe after work and walk around the park?" Jungkook suggested as Jimin nodded after.

"I heard the park is beautiful at night." Jimin giggled and looked back at the book. "I'm not even focusing on the work! We'll end up leaving late." Jimin claimed as Jungkook shrugged.

"You'll be able to go home and go to sleep. Nothing else there and you'll avoid your Mother-in-law." Jungkook advised as Jimin took a moment and let out a sigh.

"I like how you think, Mr. Jeon. But, Mrs. Lee is like Satan himself. She would actually wait until I get home to actually lecture me on being a good husband, mock my job, question my love for Yun-se and then if I'm lucky, she'll stop there and do her signature move on me." Jimin said as Jungkook smiled and watched Jimin raise his hand up to Jungkook's face and shook his head to turn away. " 'Such a disrespectful boy to my precious daughter. You don't deserve her!' " Jimin mimicked in a high pitched voice and then let out a giggle. "So staying here longer isn't an option for me." Jimin said as he looked back at the book to read the articles. "Stop with the questions now and focus!" Jimin demanded as Jungkook looked back at the book before him, pushing up his glasses at the same time Jimin did in sync.

Jimin noticed this and smiled while he turned the page as soon as Jungkook did it on the same time. Making researching for Jimin, more interesting than it was before. After work, Jimin and Jungkook walked out of the building around 9:34 PM in the evening. Due to Jungkook's constant states that threw Jimin off all of the time. Making him ask the boy why followed by laughter. Jungkook climbed onto the passenger seat as Jimin entered the car too. Jimin inserted the key as soon as the doors were closed and turned on the cool air pumping through the car vents. Jimin looked over at Jungkook and pushed up his glasses.

"Do you want anything to eat? I'm buying. I know if I go home and try to cook something, Satan would get mad at me and force me to cook a feast and she'll review it all." Jimin laughed as Jungkook took off his glasses to clear a small smudge and nodded after.

"Yes if it isn't any trouble. We'll take it to go, right?"

"I was hoping to eat it in the car since I can't go home and see Mrs. Lee complaining I didn't get anything for Yun-se and her." Jimin claimed and exhaled. "What a pain."

"Let's not eat inside the car then and eat in the restaurant. I'll eat quickly." Jungkook insisted as Jimin shook his head and started the car.

"Take your Time, Mr. Jeon. We have all night." Jimin responded and began to pull out of the parking lot of the building. Soon Jimin drove Jungkook to a near by restaurant that brews teas and cooks with a big pot of soup in the middle for two. These were the types of restaurants that require people to come in groups or with one other person and never serve to one person due to how big the food is served.

They walked into a restaurant that had the scent of seaweed soup and dishing clinking with so many people here. Jimin walked up to the waitress and asked for a table for two while Jungkook took a good look around the restaurant. It wasn't too classy, too big or too full. It was just right for a great night. He could see couples smiling at eachother and groups of friends drinking together. Jungkook speed walked to catch up with Jimin as they were seated in a booth, having silk curtains hide them from the outside.

"Isn't this for couples only?" Jungkook asked as Jimin nodded.

"They give pairs this booth. The waitress must've thought we were dating so this is our booth now." Jimin giggled and sat across Jungkook but the white couch was curved so Jungkook could easily move over to sit closer to Jimin. Yet, he kept his distance.

"I don't like this booth." Jungkook chuckled as Jimin raised a brow.

"Why not? There's peace in here."

"Prostitutes mostly come in here to meet up with their clients." Jungkook said, causing Jimin to clear his throat and blink his eyes.

"Oh Jungkook! Can you be any louder?" Jimin laughed as he moved in closer to shove Jungkook. "Show some manners, you brat!"

"Everyone knows this is the type of place for that!" Jungkook laughed as he looked through the see-through silk curtains and tilted his head to show Jimin a woman with a short dress, long hair rolled to the side, heavy make-up that made her face more attractive, and an elderly man in shades and a black tux that had his arm wrapped around her shoulder while they exited the restaurant. "See?"

"Shut up and order something!" Jimin giggled and handed Jungkook the menu that was placed in front of them before they came to sit down. The menu had soups, desserts, wine bottles to Soju, Grilled meals and wraps too as Jimin closed the menu and looked up at Jungkook.

"I... don't know what to choose." Jimin added as Jungkook just looked up and tipped his glasses, giving Jimin such an alluring stare that was just really the way he looked at Jimin.

"I'll choose one we can share then. Not wasting much money. Okay?" Jungkook said as Jimin nodded.

"But I'll still pay for it since I am your mentor and I am older." Jimin said confidently while Jungkook nodded with a cute bunny smile.

Soon, they placed their order and ended up ordering wraps where they were given lettuce, steamed vegetables on the side, soy sauce, raw beef to grill on the mini grill at the center until it reached a nice, hot and crisp, salty yet juicy taste to it, green fresh spinach, spicy powdered Kimchi and clear noodles that came in a small bowl of hot soybean soup. And to wash it down, they had two glasses of soda. Not really wanting to drink since there was nothing to celebrate and of course, Jimin couldn't go home drunk.

After the big meal, Jimin drove Jungkook home, glad he was able to go to a restaurant without having to bring along his Mother-in-law that tagged along her daughter too. Jimin had time to hang out with a friend and it made his night. He thank Jungkook and soon drove home to end his day. Completely forgetting who awaited for him at home.

Jimin stepped into the house, dragging in his suitcase and his coat, letting out an exhale from his long day. Suddenly, he looked up ahead to see Yun-se wearing her usual white silk nightgown and black socks while her hair was let down and held behind her shoulders. She looked up to see Jimin was finally back while she balanced... a book on her head?

"Welcome back, my lovely husband!" Yun-se raised her voice as she gave Jimin a warning through her gaze.

"PARK JIMIN, HOW DARE YOU TAKE FOREVER AND NEGLECT MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER?!" A woman's voice shouted from the room and out came a mean looking woman, face full of youth for an elder, slight wrinkles around her eyes, black silk hair tied into a bun with a flower pin holding it up, a light pastel purple blouse under a black elegant coat hanging over her shoulders, black pencil skirt, expensive pearls for necklace and earrings. Based on her look, it was obvious Yun-se came from a wealthy family.

"Hello, Mrs. Lee." Jimin bowed as Yun-se gasped as Jimin realized he forgot to address Mrs. Lee as 'Mother.'

"Sit down, Jimin. Do you know how worried Yun-se was?! She never knows where you are and it isn't fair for her."

"Mother, Jimin was working.." Yun-se claimed, trying to keep the book on her head, fearing if she drops it, her mother would end her.

"Yet he never answers his own wife's calls! What type of husband are you?! Lie to my Yun-se that you work hard. Mph! I never knew you'd end up coming home around 11PM from studying CORALS!" Mrs. Lee shouted as Yun-se kept her eyes shut in silence. Wanting her to leave. "My poor baby suffers when you aren't here! Do you even fuck her right?!"

             "MOTHER!" Yun-se shouted in embarrassment.

"Keep that book on your head and DO NOT drop it!"

           "Y-Yes, Mother..."

"Do you know what would make this relationship better?!"

"I-I... Don't know.. Quality time together?" Jimin answered nervously as Mrs. Lee shook her head.

"A baby! And of course... Getting rid of that so called 'Friend' of yours named Jungkook. Ugh, that bully comes back and you give him more attention than your own wife! You should feel ashamed. You can not sleep next to Yun-se until you apologize and decide that maybe it's time to have a child." Mrs. Lee added as she folded her arms and gave her devil-like glare at Jimin. "Just contact someone to remove Jungkook from being your partner and cut off all ties with him. Fill your life with Yun-se! Not some random intern that I doubt even has a relationship to come home to." Mrs. Lee demanded.

Jimin looked at his Mother-in-law and back at his wife, watching Yun-se grow guilty for telling her Mother all about Jungkook and Jimin's work too. Telling the strict Mother everything Jimin should have said to Mrs. Lee. For a split second, Jimin just wished he could leave and go to work where Jungkook would be and no annoying Mother-in-law holding him back by his ring finger.
