My Good Friend

You're a smile brought to my face

When things look out of place

And when things look so bad

You tell me, "Don't be so sad"

And when I'm feeling low

And there's no place to go

I can stay for a while

Get warmth from the smile

Of the person that I call

My good friend

Though people don't always see

How such a thing can be

We can't carry on

Without carrying on

But we just turn away

From the things that they say

Laugh it off as jealousy

Of people who can never be

As close as we are
