26 - If You Leave Me

Two weeks, had passed and the project Heaven's Cloud was going on very smoothly. The Serenity and Rose Quartz teams were now getting along well and their teamwork was truly applaudable.

But the dynamics between them as a whole team and them within a few pairs were different.

First of all, Dino had become everyone's go to person. It was contrasting but yeah the youngest was the one with whom everyone liked to share their views.

He was a welcoming person. Although they would bicker all day, it had nothing to do with their actual beautiful bond.

Seungcheol and the whole Rose Quartz team was always in contact with Jeonghan's family, assuring them everyday that he'll be fine soon.

According to Jihyo, Jeonghan was showing progress in his condition. He was truly happy around all 12 of them, who had got his back.

Seungcheol used to ask him to go out and spend time with him every now and then. But it was just the initial scenario.

Now, even Jeonghan had started planning for them to go out and spend peaceful time with the older.

They were getting closer and Jeonghan had completely let his guards down around Seungcheol and the whole Rose Quartz team.

Talking about Hoshi and Woozi, they were complicated. They couldn't spend a single day attacking each other with mean comments which were not supposed to be taken to heart.

Everyone in the office still believed that they were dating which irked them even more. They weren't even good friends, let alone dating.

They would just get on each other's nerves, ready to do anything to tease each other.

Once Hoshi found out that Woozi hated cutesy stuff, he began to occasionally ruffle his hair, pinch his cheeks and intentionally drop fluffy comments for him.

And in return he would of course earn three four smacks from Woozi.

Seokmin and Joshua were just going on. They were getting to know each other and not to mention, they loved to work together.

They had become each other's comfort place. They used to share their concerns and almost every night they used to spend time in the garden after dinner.

As promised, Joshua had gifted Seokmin a handmade bracelet which Seokmin wore everyday. They were just secretly admiring each other and they didn't even know.

Mingyu was still falling for Wonwoo who was completely clueless. They were constantly getting teased by everyone but Wonwoo used to shrug it off.

Mingyu had new plans to spend time with Wonwoo almost everyday and they did. Wonwoo loved the younger's warm personality.

Wonwoo didn't have to put much effort to open up to Mingyu and he absolutely loved it. Although he would never say it out loud but Wonwoo always noticed Mingyu's small gestures to take care of him.

And in return, Wonwoo had also absorbed this habit of always checking on the younger if he was doing fine.

Jun and Minghao were going on as usual. On Dino's requests, Jun had given a thought of confessing to Minghao, several times but he just couldn't gather the courage to do so.

Minghao was in a fix. He had started feeling strange emotions within his heart whenever he was around Jun and he couldn't understand that.

He didn't know why he didn't like when Jun was too close with someone else apart from himself. He didn't know what it was.

But they were still best friends. They used to spend quality time together and exchange each other's worries and concerns. Their conversations were warm and comforting.

Vernon and Seungkwan were doing pretty well considering their first encounter wasn't that good.

After their last confrontation, they had finally decided to let go of all the grudges and start fresh. So that was exactly what they were doing.

They had become good friends to each other. All day long, they would tease each other and bicker occasionally.

But as earlier, their fights weren't serious. Both of them knew they were just messing around.

But as a matter of fact, they had started to like each other's company. And their favorite hobby was to sneak out of the mansion, late at night to go out and eat snacks.

They were once caught by Dino so they willingly involved him in their squad.

They thought that the hyungs didn't know what the three of them were doing. But being the younger ones, they didn't know that nothing was hidden from the older ones.

•Serenity Mansion, Seungcheol's room•

Knock!

"Come in!" Seungcheol focused on his laptop's screen while sitting on the bed as he heard a knock at his door. His head was resting against the headboard.

"Hey!!" Jeonghan mumbled with a small smile while walking in.

"Hmm, what do you want?" Seungcheol chuckled.

"I can see you only when I want something?" Jeonghan sat on the other end of the bed.

"No?" Seungcheol looked up, "But that tone was pretty demanding."

"Uh-" Jeonghan scratched his forehead, "Why do you know everything? That's not fair."

"What happened?" Seungcheol laughed.

"You know the hotel where you all were staying earlier? There was a sea-shore behind that right?" Jeonghan explained, "There's a similar place at a walking distance from here. Will you go with me?"

"Right now?" Seungcheol asked, "It's 10 pm in the night."

"I know that." Jeonghan rolled his eyes, "But let's go. It's even more beautiful at late night."

"Okay okay sure we'll go. Just give me a few minutes." Seungcheol focused back on his laptop.

"Why are you working right now? Didn't we finish our task at the office already?" Jeonghan walked towards him and looked at the screen.

"Yeah it's another project's designs I'm finalizing." Seungcheol stated.

"I disturbed you." Jeonghan muttered, "It's fine, we'll go tomorrow."

"Did I say that to you? No right?" Seungcheol looked at the younger, "I'm almost done, just wait for a few minutes."

"Sure." Jeonghan nodded as he began to walk around in Seungcheol's room, "Why are you suddenly doing squats?"

"Randomly." Jeonghan muttered as he began to do some stretching.

"Jeonghan? Are you okay?"

"Yes." Jeonghan stood straight, "Stop looking at me and do your work fast, we've to go!"

Seungcheol just chuckled to himself. Jeonghan had always been like that. He was pretty sure that no one had ever seen this demanding and whining side of Jeonghan except for him, be it the past or present. And he absolutely loved it.

Jeonghan loved to take care of everyone, subtly but with Seungcheol, he just wanted to be taken care of. No it wasn't like he wasn't concerned for the older, he was always checking on him too.

If he had standards then he had to become the standard too. Even if it was just friendship.

"Done." Seungcheol closed the laptop and stood up, "Let's go."

After walking for a while, both of them reached the required designation. It was a vast sea-shore with beautiful lightings. At a far end there were snack-trucks. There were a few swings, benches and cabins for water sports which were of course closed  by that time.

Due to the late timing, the place wasn't much crowded. The duo successfully found an isolated space for them to walk around. The cold breeze was grazing through their faces while the dark sky looked like a blanket of stars with the moon shining elegantly.

"I see, you like places like these." Seungcheol stated.

"Like what?"

"Which gives you peace." Seungcheol chuckled.

"True." Jeonghan nodded as they continued to walk.

Seungcheol noticed that Jeonghan's hair were all over his face, blocking him from admiring the younger's beautiful eyes. Seungcheol quickly tucked those strands of hair from Jeonghan's face, behind is ear.

"What?" Jeonghan smiled at the gesture.

"Nothing." Seungcheol assured as he kept staring at him with a small smile.

"Don't look at me like that." Jeonghan gently pushed him.

"Like what, hmm?" Seungcheol crossed his hands.

"Like-" Jeonghan paused as he thought, 'Like I'm all you have. Like I'm your everything.'

"Should I say it?" Seungcheol once again tucked his hair behind his earlobe.

Jeonghan nodded, eager to hear his answer.

"I'm looking at you just the way you look up to me." Seungcheol chuckled, "With shining stars in your eyes. With admiration and gratitude. With purity and relief. With comfort and assurance."

"Do I?" Jeonghan felt happy, "Do I really have these emotions in my eyes? Am I really not empty from inside?"

"What makes you think you don't?" Seungcheol held his hand, "You're full of emotions, Jeonghan. Even if you yourself don't know, they're visible in your eyes, in your little gestures. You're a person who everyone wants in their life."

Jeonghan felt his eyes moist. He couldn't believe he was hearing these things for himself. Was he really that worthy? Was his forgotten past not a sign of his emotionless heart?

Seungcheol wiped the faint tears in the younger's eyes, "Your tears are precious but your smile is even more precious. If you cry even in my presence, it will be my failure."

"I'm not crying, I'm happy." Jeonghan grinned, "I'm happy to know that my heart is not empty. I'm not emotionless. I can express things through my eyes, just like you do."

If you leave me
What can I do?
All my days
You're the reason I live and breathe

"Too bad that you realised now." Seungcheol ruffled his hair, "Come, let's walk."

They began to roam around again while talking and laughing, admiring the scenery, discussing about the younger ones and much more.

"Uh- is there a restroom nearby." Seungcheol looked around.

"There." Jeonghan pointed at a far end. It wasn't that far though but still, it was a considerable distance.

"I'll quickly go and come back, don't go anywhere okay?" Seungcheol stated as he jogged towards the restroom.

Jeonghan was wandering around the place when an idea struck him. His lips curled into an evil smile as he recalled how Seungcheol had asked him to stay there until he comes back.

He looked around himself as he quickly hid himself behind the closed stall which was a ticket counter for some water activities. That was the best place to hide as he could clearly see the whole area in front of him but no one else could spot him.

He pulled out his phone and put it on silent mode. After cutting off all the possibilities to get caught, he chuckled as he waited for Seungcheol to come back.

"Let's see what will he do." Jeonghan got excited. Soon, he could see Seungcheol coming back to the place where they were walking earlier.

"Yes he came! Plan starts!" Jeonghan muttered to himself with a playful grin.

Seungcheol looked around himself quietly trying to figure out where Jeonghan was. After a while, he pulled out his phone and tried to call the younger.

Jeonghan saw the incoming calls as he laughed quitely. He believed that Seungcheol would look around for a while, make a few calls and then probably wait for him assuming that Jeonghan would have went somewhere. Then Jeonghan would show up and laugh at him for being so clueless. That's it.

"JEONGHAN?!!" Seungcheol's loud scream made him flinch.

"Oh?" Jeonghan looked at him while hiding.

Seungcheol was getting worried, really worried.

"Jeonghan where are you?! I swear-" Seungcheol grabbed his hair in frustration as he began to run around the area looking for the younger.

He was continuously calling the younger while looking around the place, yelling his name.

I'm out of breath
Running to you on a dark shadow night
You're the only one I can't exchange for anyone else
I'll be by your side forever

Jeonghan had to drop his plan at that point but it seemed like he had frozen at his place. Seungcheol's reaction was not something he had imagined. It wasn't fun and prank, it was serious and heart wrenching.

Jeonghan literally forgot how to react, he was speechless at that moment.

"JEONGHAN PLEASE WHERE ARE YOU?!" Seungcheol's voice began to crack as he choked on his tears.

"What the fuck is wrong with this?" Seungcheol smacked his phone on his palm, "Why did I even leave him alone. It's all my fault."

"Jeonghan?!" Seungcheol began to panic while tears fell down through his cheeks without any control.

You're the only one for me who knows my heart
Hug me more, I hate tomorrow without you
I need you, I love you, only you babe

Jeonghan finally came back to his senses. He quickly came out of the hiding and rushed towards the older.

He held his arm and turned him around, "Seungcheol I'm so-"

Before he could apologise, Seungcheol pulled him into a tight hug. He engulfed the younger's frame within his embrace, "Where were you? I was so scared." He sniffled, "I thought- I-"

As Seungcheol choked on his words, Jeonghan began to caress his back to calm him down. He had never imagined that his little mischief would turn out like this.

He didn't know that Seungcheol was just too scared because he had already lost him once. So this time, he was determined to even fight destiny and fate to keep Jeonghan secured to himself.

"Seungcheol I'm so sorry." Jeonghan broke the hug as he looked at the older's messed up and vulnerable face. He wiped his tears gently and settled his hair, "I was just- I'm really sorry, I tried to mess around. I didn't know it will turn out like this."

"Do you even know what kind of thoughts came to my mind? It's almost a deserted place right now and it's too late at night." Seungcheol backed away, "How can you do this Jeonghan? I was so scared." He clutched his chest to release a deep breath, "I can't lose-"

If you leave me babe, oh no
If you leave me babe
My tears turn into rain and fall down
And the four seasons will never stop

"I didn't know it will turn out this serious-" Jeonghan tried to explain, already feeling guilty.

Seungcheol calmed himself down as he wiped his tears. He took a few deep breaths while Jeonghan just stared at him with concern.

"I'm sorry Jeonghan but don't do this kind of thing ever again, it's not funny at all." Seungcheol looked at him, "These things don't count as pranks. I don't think I need to give you a lecture over this."

"I'm sorry." Jeonghan mumbled as he looked down, "Let's go back home."

"Are you upset?" Seungcheol held his hand.

"Why would I be upset, you should be." Jeonghan looked up.

"No, that would never happen." Seungcheol began to walk while holding Jeonghan's hand.

Jeonghan clutched his hand to halt him, "Why were you so worried, Seungcheol?"

"What do you mean?" Seungcheol turned around, "I couldn't find you, of course I would be worried."

"You were literally panicking. You even cried." Jeonghan stared at the older, "Tell me?"

'Tell me that there's something between us. Tell me that you're not like this with everyone. Tell me that I'm special to you. Just say it Seungcheol, please say it.'

"I would have panicked if there would have been anyone among our friends, I cherish you all with my whole heart." Seungcheol chuckled, "I don't think I can explain it but you all are equally special to me."

"Of course." Jeonghan forced a smile. All of his hopes shattered with that one sentence.

'Am I? Just like everyone to you?'

"Jeonghan? Are you okay?" Seungcheol asked, "Was I too much? I'm really sorry I was just worried. I didn't-"

Jeonghan placed his finger on the older's lips, "Calm down Seungcheol. It's fine."

"Sure?"

"Sure."

Even the time when we were apart for a while
Makes my heart flutter
I know it's not gonna happen
But just imagining it makes me cry

I'll be by your side forever
I want to hold your hand, just stay with me

A/n : I don't think it would have suited within the chapter so I'm explaining it here.

Yes, Jeonghan is falling for Seungcheol and he kinda knows it. But guys, don't forget about his medical condition. Just because he opened up with Seungcheol and everyone doesn't mean he has healed.

He's still insecure about his amnesia and anxiety. He's not timid but he's very cautious with his emotions. So yeah, it's not easy for him to directly approach Seungcheol.

That's what I wanted to depict in the last lines.

Anyways take care everyone!
