21 - Perfect

"Five more minutes to go." Seungcheol stated while driving.

Jeonghan was sitting on the passenger's seat and he could see that wherever he was being taken was a bit crowded area even though it was dark by now. He could see the parked cars, people checking in or out, kids playing around and whining to their parents.

But as Seungcheol stopped the car, all the crowd was left behind. He got out of the car and opened the door for Jeonghan.

"Thank you." Jeonghan walked out.

"Come." Seungcheol headed in as the cool breeze swayed around both of them.

As they walked inside the empty land covered with sand, the vast sea came into the sight.

"Wow." Jeonghan stood amidst the dim lights, cozy tent and beautiful arrangements beside the immense water body, "It's so beautiful."

Seungcheol stood still while smiling lightly. He was happy to see Jeonghan wandering around and admiring his organisation.

"Seungcheol! This is so pretty." Jeonghan rushed towards him with a wide smile on his face.

'Just like you.'

"How come I don't know this place?" Jeonghan kept looking around, "I love it."

'Because this is your favourite place.'

"I told you that you wouldn't know."

"But why are all the people crowded on that side? Is there something special?" Jeonghan asked.

"No." Seungcheol nodded, "This is the most special place."

"So why are all-" Jeonghan realised, "Did you rent it all?"

"Why do you want to know about all this?" Seungcheol scratched his neck.

"Why did you have to spend so-"

Before Jeonghan could complete, Seungcheol put his finger on his lips, "Don't worry about it okay? I promised you to gift you some healing time and I don't think you would love around being a crowd after being in the news just a few days ago."

"Thank you so much Seungcheol, thank you!!" Jeonghan was over the moon at that moment.

"Let's go and play in water." Seungcheol suggested.

"What? My clothes will get wet." Jeonghan stated.

"Don't worry, I asked Joshua to hand me another set of clothes for you." Seungcheol explained, "You can change there." He pointed at the changing rooms at the beach.

"Wow you're really something." Jeonghan chuckled.

"Jeonghan, don't think about anything right now, okay?" Seungcheol softly stated, "Be a child. Make memories to fill the void of your childhood days. You've got all the freedom, laugh, play, shout, act crazy, do whatever you want to. Be yourself, I'm beside you."

Slight tears formed in Jeonghan's eyes but he quickly wiped them off, "I'll never be able to express how grateful I am, to you. Thank you for coming in my life, Seungcheol."

Seungcheol offered him his hand, "Let's go."

Jeonghan held his hand as both of them walked into the steady waves.

Within a moment, they began to play around like little kids. Their giggles were all over the place as they splashed water on each other. They were totally drenched in water as well as the beautiful moment.

Jeonghan swayed his hand in the waves while Seungcheol kept admiring him. He felt content to see Jeonghan freely enjoying himself. His home, his love, felt really close to him. These few moments were enough to make him forget those six years of misery when he used to miss Jeonghan being in his arms.

He never thought he'll get his love back. But life is unpredictable, right?

I found a love, for me
Darling, just dive right and follow my lead
Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me

"This is so fun." Jeonghan giggled while pulling Seungcheol back into the water as they began goofing around once again.

"Oh." Jeonghan slipped a bit but Seungcheol immediately held him, "You're clumsy."

"You asked me to be a kid." Jeonghan grinned, "So now handle this kid."

"I would love to." Seungcheol nodded.

"I want to go farther." Jeonghan whined.

"No, it's not very safe."

"Just hold my hand, I'll be safe." Jeonghan stated.

Seungcheol smiled to himself. He had successfully gained the younger's trust, once again. As decided, Seungcheol held Jeonghan's hand tightly as he explored more of the sea.

Seungcheol grinned while watching Jeonghan enjoying himself, 'You think you got a second chance in life but no, it's me who received this second chance of showering you with my love. All these years, I was dead inside but you brought me back to life, Jeonghan. Just hold my hand like this forever.'

'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love
Not knowing what it was
I will not give you up this time
But darling, kiss me slow
Your heart is all I own
And in your eyes, you're holding mine

"Okay enough, let's go back or you'll catch a cold." Seungcheol stated.

"Okay." Jeonghan nodded as both of them got back to the land, "It was so fun. I enjoyed a lot."

"I saw that."

Jeonghan did a little jump and laughed, "I can't hold my excitement. You know at first I thought the water is really cold, I may not be able to endure it but once I got in, I didn't want to come out."

Jeonghan didn't realise that he never left Seungcheol's hand while hopping around occasionally.

"And it would have been so funny if I wouldn't have dodged your water splash." Jeonghan giggled, "These lights are my favourite. Plus this sand is feeling even better after I came out of the waves. That rock~"

Jeonghan kept on explaining everything to the older like an over excited kid. Seungcheol just listened to him lovingly. It was probably the first time in those six years when Jeonghan had managed to bring his inner child, out.

"I can't stop talking over how fun this is." Jeonghan inhaled a deep breath.

"Go, change." Seungcheol handed him the new set of clothes, "There's more to go."

After a while, both of them met again at the same spot after changing into fresh clothes.

"I must be looking really messy right now." Jeonghan muttered while settling his hair.

"You don't need to worry about it with that face card." Seungcheol stated but with a joking tone to not to make it uncomfortable for the younger.

When you said you looked a mess
I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it
Darling, you look perfect tonight

"Smooth, Seungcheol, very smooth." Jeonghan laughed.

"That's my expertise." Seungcheol laughed along.

Jeonghan squinted his brows as he noticed something, "Those are swings, right?"

"You saw them now?" Seungcheol looked back.

"Yeah."

"They're for you as well." Seungcheol showed him the clear way.

"That's too childish." Jeonghan hesitated, "You'll laugh at me."

"Do you think I brought you here to laugh at you?" Seungcheol raised his brow, "I'll laugh with you. I already told you, be childish, no one is stopping you. C'mon!"

Jeonghan stared at the older while walking behind him. Yes, he was exactly like the person he used to get dreams about but as it was already cleared, he wasn't him.

But.

For the very first time, Jeonghan wasn't looking back. He was too focused and immersed in the present to think about anything else, let alone his past.

Once again, they played and enjoyed the swings like little kids. The amount of genuine laughter Jeonghan had in one single night was probably much more than his whole week's quota.

Baby, I'm dancing in the dark
You between my arms
Barefoot on the grass
Listening to your favourite song

"Did you like it?" Seungcheol asked.

"Of course." Jeonghan jumped, "But I'm tired now. We played a lot. Wow, I'm really sounding like a child right now."

"So now, you'll get your reward." Seungcheol made it over dramatic, "FOOD!!"

"Yayyy!!" Jeonghan played along with his small skit.

Both of them walked towards the table that was prepared beside the tent. Seungcheol dragged the chair back for Jeonghan to sit on it after which he grabbed his own seat.

"Just a second." Seungcheol made a phone call, "Yeah, bring it." He hung up the call.

"I'm so happy today." Jeonghan muttered, "Thank you for all of this. You're such a thoughtful person. Even though I don't remember it, my childhood must have been this soulful, for sure."

'It was.'

"Joshua was right, I was stuck in my past because I wasn't feeling my present with my whole heart. I was understanding his words but could never implement it." Jeonghan chuckled, "Thank you for making it easy for me."

Seungcheol felt amazing. That smile, he could do anything for it. If Jeonghan was happy, there was literally nothing else he could ask for.

I found a lover
To carry more than just my secrets
To carry love

"I'm glad I could do that." Seungcheol retorted after which two waiters organised their meal on the table and left.

"I'm pretty sure that kids don't drink wine." Jeonghan stated.

"Yes but we're going to eat like adults." Seungcheol grinned.

"But if we'll drink, who'll drive?"

"Driver."

"But you drove us here, there was no driver so-"

"Jeonghan!! You worry too much." Seungcheol halted him, "Leave it on me and just enjoy, okay?"

"Fine."

After devouring their meal, they began to walk around the beach once again.

Seungcheol looked at his watch, "We've a lot of time. Let's sit beneath the stars and talk. Or if you want to sit inside the tent then we can go in."

"No I like it here." Jeonghan nodded while fixing his hair.

"Let them be." Seungcheol stated after which he settled the mat and sat on it, "Come."

"Yes." Jeonghan sat beside him as both of them felt the strong, cold wind.

We're still kids but we're so in love
Fighting against all odds
I know we'll be alright this time

Seungcheol was staring at Jeonghan who was giggling while looking at the stars, "What's so funny about the stars?"

"Nothing." Jeonghan chuckled, "I'm so happy that I can't contain it. You know, when you said you'll take me somewhere, I genuinely thought it would be a casual dinner or long drive or something. But this is just majestic.

When I was struggling to regain my memories, you taught me to relive them instead. I don't think there are enough words to express how much I owe you."

"You don't owe me anything. I'm doing this because I want to." Seungcheol paused, "I know how it feels when you're empty from inside. You keep smiling all day but by the end you just lose all your hopes. I don't want any of my friends to suffer that."

"Are you okay?" Jeonghan looked at him, "Are you dealing with something as well? You can tell me."

"Not anymore, it WAS a phase of my life." Seungcheol grinned, "Don't worry."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Jeonghan. I'm all good now." Seungcheol assured.

"Joshua was jealous of you." Jeonghan laughed.

"Why?"

"Because I rarely go out, even with them, let alone someone I know for a lesser amount of time. But I quickly agreed to you, that's why." Jeonghan continued, "He was joking though."

"Can I know how I got this privilege?" Seungcheol asked.

"I don't know. When you asked, I couldn't deny." Jeonghan shrugged, "I don't think I've any specific reason for that."

"Seungcheol." Jeonghan inhaled a deep breath as he offered him his hand, "Friends forever? Will you be a forever person in my life?"
-

"Don't go." Jeonghan sniffled.

"I'm not going anywhere Jeonghan, what are you talking about?" Seungcheol embraced him in his arms.

"You said that." Jeonghan muttered, "You said you'll never see me again."

"C'mon Jeonghan, it was a prank planned by the younger ones." Seungcheol caressed his back, "And you were fine at that time. What happened suddenly?"

"I thought over it and I got scared." Jeonghan tightened his grip, "I'll kill you if you leave me."

"How does that even make sense?" Seungcheol laughed.

Jeonghan pinched his ears, "Don't you dare laugh right now."

"Okay, I'm sorry, my mistake." Seungcheol joined his hands, "I won't say anything like this even as a joke."

"Good for you."

"Jeonghan, please? I'm sorry, don't get upset or I'll cry."

"Do whatever you want to, I don't care."

Seungcheol embraced him from the back, "How will you not care about me? You can't live without worrying about me 24/7."

"So you'll take advantage of that, right?" Jeonghan wriggled in his hold.

"Yes."

"Seungcheol, leave me."

"I won't, I just promised you. I'll never leave you, got it?"
-

"I think I made you uncomfortable." Jeonghan was going to retract his hand when Seungcheol held it, "That's not even a question. Of course I'll always stay by your side, you don't have to worry about it, I promise."

Seungcheol stared at him, 'The day I leave your hand, I wish that would be my last day.'

"Thank you." Jeonghan smiled, "I wonder how my childhood actually was."

"We don't know right? But we can imagine." Seungcheol softly stated, "I'll help you."

Jeonghan turned towards him, eager to know what he was going to say.

"As a child, you must have been so lively." Seungcheol began, "Mischievouse yet caring. You must have been into pranking people but that was your love language. Your parents, your family must have cherished you a lot. They nurtured a gentleman who remembers his ethics even after dealing with a lot. And I believe you were really passionate about your career."

Jeonghan looked down as he tried to control his tears. Was his childhood like that? He wished it was.

"Jeonghan?" Seungcheol looked at him.

Jeonghan sniffled as he wiped his tears. Seungcheol quickly swung his arm around the younger's shoulder, "Why are you crying?"

"What did I do to deserve a friend like you?" Jeonghan mumbled, "Thank you, for everything."

"Not again. I said I don't want your thank you." Seungcheol looked at him, "If you loved it, just give me a genuine smile."

Jeonghan grinned while staring at the older.

"Now, let's go back, shall we?"

"Sure."

Darling, just hold my hand
I see my future in your eyes
Now I know I've met an angel in person
I don't deserve this
You look perfect tonight

Seungkwan was walking through the hallway as he accidentally bumped into someone. He immediately looked up to see it was Vernon.

"Sorry." Seungkwan mumbled without looking at him and began to leave.

Vernon found it extremely wierd. He was expecting a five minute long lecture on basic manners but none of it came his way. And over that, Seungkwan even apologised.

"Seungkwan? Are you okay?" Vernon couldn't help but ask.

Seungkwan halted as he turned around, "What?"

"Are you fine?"

"Yes." Seungkwan mumbled and left.

"What's wrong with him?" Vernon got worried. It was when he saw Hoshi coming through his way, "Hoshi hyung? Is Seungkwan alright?"

"Umm yeah I guess?" Hoshi was clueless, "Is something going on between you guys?"

"No, I just bumped into him right now and instead of saying anything, he just said sorry and left." Vernon explained, "That's not his normal behaviour."

"I know." Hoshi mumbled, "That night too, after putting you to sleep, he came out of the room and encountered me. He was being lost at that time too."

"Putting me to sleep?" Vernon scrunched his brows.

"Yeah you got drunk right? To keep you away from Jeonghan hyung, Mingyu threw you over Seungkwan to take you to your room." Hoshi explained.

"Oh." Vernon nodded, "Thanks hyung."

Hoshi patted his shoulder and left.

"He brought me in my room?" Vernon tried to recall, "Did I say something to him? He's definitely upset. Should I talk to him? Yeah, I should. I hope I didn't say anything wrong."

He immediately pulled out his phone and called Seungkwan to meet him on the third floor's hall's balcony.

He himself reached the location and stood at the balcony while facing the moonlight.

"What?" Seungkwan's voice was heard.

Vernon turned around, "Uh- Seungkwan, I wanted to talk about something."

"Say." Seungkwan replied without putting any effort.

"I heard you were the one who brought me in my room at the party night." Vernon hesitantly continued, "I honestly don't remember anything. You seem upset, did I say anything hurtful?"

Seungkwan's breath hitched. Among everything that Vernon had said and did that night, all he remembered was the kiss.

"See, I know we bicker a lot but I don't mean it and I'm sure you don't either." Vernon explained, "So if I said anything wrong while being drunk, I'm really sorry."

Seungkwan choked on his words. He didn't know how to reply as he avoided eye contact, "You didn't say anything. It's fine."

He began to leave but Vernon held his arm, "Your behaviour says it wasn't fine. Tell me Seungkwan, what did I say?"

Seungkwan still looked down, "Leave me Vernon."

"I will but tell me what's wrong?" Vernon insisted, "What is so wrong that you can't even look at me?!"

"Nothing-"

"Tell the truth."

"No-"

"Please?!"

"YOU KISSED ME." Seungkwan blurted out in the heat of the moment, "You don't remember anything but I clearly do. I didn't see it coming or I would have stopped you but it was so abrupt that even I couldn't understand what happened."

Vernon's grip on Seungkwan loosened as he stared at him in horror.

"You always say that me speaking a lot bothers you. No one has ever said that to me." Seungkwan paused, "That's why I was keeping my distance with you but still you're bothered that I'm being strange. WHAT THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO DO HUH?!!"

"I-" Vernon gulped, "I kissed you?"

"You did." Seungkwan backed away, "YOU DID." He ran away from the hall.

"I screwed up." Vernon grabbed his hair in frustration, "Fuck!! How can I do this?! What the hell man? Now how will I apologise to him?!"
