CHAPTER 23

Here's another update! Enjoy!❤️✨

*******************

Violet

I was so dumb. So dumb to shout into Indigo and Laura’s link. The way Indigo pushed the door open and ran to me, examining me as if something happened to me, in just seconds, had me realized to never scare him like that.

Like never!

I didn’t even know if the whole telepathy thing would have worked. I couldn’t even find the words to explain the whole thing to him. But then he looked like he was proud of me. I know I couldn’t break those walls Lianna and Klaus talked about but I tried and spoke to them in their head rather than speaking to them out loud.

Learning from Klaus was amazing. He was a really good teacher. He helped me with the linking stuff as calmly as he could. He told me to keep thinking of the bond and the person who I had to link to. I wasn’t able to do it at the start but Lianna and Klaus motivated me. And then I did it.

I literally jumped and started dancing but then Klaus told me it was a really easy thing to do with open links and mind walls. I felt it, the wall in the link. It was like a social media application. But this application was just inside your head. If the person had his walls up that meant he was offline and if the walls were down they were online, meaning they’ve actually heard but it’s up to them to reply or not.

I know, this was like screw the damn technology!

When Klaus and Lianna asked me to bang at their walls in the head, I felt like banging my head on the wall. The stupid thing was stopping me from reaching them, and that being the only reason for me to shout into Indigo and Laura’s link.

Technically, I wasn’t at fault. Their walls were open and I did not know they were online!

Around seven in the evening or something, Indigo told me he would invite Laura’s parents for dinner. So Klaus and I decided to cook. We had only started to cook when Laura’s wolf came in. She was so beautiful. She was the second wolf I had seen. Actually third, including the rogue wolf.

Laura’s wolf had dark greyish white and her cute white paws were what stood out to me. Me guessing it was Laura in the first place was because of her eyes. In her wolf form they depicted the blue sea. They looked so much more intense. No wonder my brother was smitten. I named her wolf Lotte. That name crossed my mind the minute I laid my eyes on her. Laura-Lotte, it suited her.

We clicked so many pictures to which, I knew, Indigo was going to be jealous. Klaus told me Eli would throw a fit, after seeing them.

I wouldn’t mind taking pictures again. I hardly took any pictures of me before. So, yeah.

We were done cooking and we waited for Indigo and the others to be home. We were watching the television when Klaus suddenly went into protective mode as the door opened. I got up from my seat and he gently pushed me behind his back, hiding me from them. I could feel his chest vibrating.

I looked over his shoulder to see Indigo and Laura along with a couple who no doubt were her parents. Her father was almost the same height as Indigo and her mother looked so much younger. If I wouldn’t have known I would have said she was Laura’s elder sister or something.

My legs hurt to look over his shoulders so I turned to his side and took a better look at them. They were staring at me.

Had I seen Laura’s father somewhere before?

I tried to remember as my thoughts went into flashback. I kept going back to realize he was the one who helped our team with the ‘save the whales’ project. Laura had mentioned her surname to me before but that did not light the bulb.

The world is small.

“Mr. Terrawater! I know you!” I said from behind Klaus. Klaus turned his head to look at me.

“You know me.” Mr. Terrawater asked, a small smile tugging at his lips. Indigo and Laura exchanged looks while her mother stared at me.

“Yeah. You helped us on the other side in the ‘save the whales’ project.” I told him which made his smile grow bigger.

“You were on it?” He asked, surprised.

“Yup. I was the coordinator.” I told him, smiling back.

“Ah. Good job you guys did there.” He said with a big smile and I quickly said thanks.

“Alpha Terrawater. Luna Ava.” Klaus said, bowing his head.

“It's been a long time, Klaus.” He said with a smile. Klaus nodded his head, returning the smile.

“Have a seat.” I offered. I could feel Indigo was a bit uneasy. Laura’s mother walked ahead and stood in front of me, her eyes glistening with tears. She did not let them fall though.

“You’ve grown up to be so beautiful dear,” She said too softly with a palm on my face. No wonder Laura grew up to be motherly. I blushed and gave a quick glance to Laura and Indigo and then back to her.

I was beautiful, bitches. I grinned to myself in my head.

“Thank you. You are too. You look more like Laura’s sister than her mother. ” I told her. She let out a hearty laugh and kissed my forehead.

She turned to Klaus and then Indigo and said, “Indigo, her aura is different.”

Yeah..

“Don’t know what that is yet.” He said, shaking his head.

“Let’s eat first.” Laura suggested. Everyone agreed and we went to take our seats at the dining table. Klaus sat beside Laura’s father and mother on one side. Indigo, Laura and myself sat on the other side. We ate dinner as Klaus and Mr. Terrawater talked about old times and about the other packs and stuff.

Her father then turned to me, asking me how the whole project worked. I gave him details which ended up with me telling him I was in an orphanage all this time and I had no memories of my past. It wasn’t like a five year old remembered much anway.

Indigo told them I was learning to link and told him about the technical problem that was going on in my head today. It got me all embarrassed but he was proud I was able to link him. Laura’s mom, Ava, waved her hand and said, “There is nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s a good start dear.” I nodded and chewed my food with all my thirty-two teeth.

We finished dinner and sat in the living room talking while we ate the best part of dinner, which is obviously the desert. Indigo told them he found me at the Glowing River while we were having ice-cream. It ended up in him telling them I was going to Silver Summit because a witch asked me to.

Everytime Silver Summit was mentioned I felt a small hopeful feeling run through me.

“Raven.” Indigo said, as they asked her name. They shook their heads in a no.

“Never heard.” Mr. Terrawater said.

“We’ll look into it, if you want.” Ava suggested. Klaus and Laura exchanged looks while Indigo was in thought. I suppose he did not want to involve anyone in this matter.

“I cannot let more people know about her this soon.” He said.

“Don’t worry Indigo. We won’t tell anyone about her. It stays in the family.” Ava said, calmly. Indigo nodded in understanding.

“Her aura is what you say it is but I don’t feel her wolf at all.” Mr. Terrawater said. I was so quiet because this was just a repeat telecast about me only they didn’t jump from their seats cursing. I just sat there enjoying my precious ice-cream.

I missed having fun.

Eli should have been here, though I doubt he would crack a joke in front of guests. Guests who were Alpha and Luna because that shit was really taken seriously here.

I told them everything they asked me. Actually I was a little sleepy. Indigo explained to them about the curse which made Ava gasp and look at me with sympathy and worry filled eyes. I could only give her a tight-lipped smile. I was leaning my head on Klaus’s shoulder as he had draped an arm around my shoulder, listening to their conversation quietly.

It seemed like these guys roamed with a heater installed in their system.

“Her wolf is there, Lucca. She felt a bond with our delta’s unborn baby.” They looked at each other with wide eyes. Mr. Terrawater’s expression actually screamed, ‘Bitch what!’

“No barriers stopped her.” Klaus told them. This time Ava narrowed her eyes at me, suspiciously.

I’m not sus. Promise!

“You have my word Indigo. This information will remain within the walls of my house and the ears of my family. Nobody needs to know about her until she is ready. And with that aura, which is increasing as you say, it will reach people you don’t want it to reach.” Mr. Terrawater said. My eyes grew small as sleep was taking over me.

“Thank you. Klaus and Jane are going to start with her training tomorrow. About her aura, I don’t know what to do about it.. Yet. But I’ll soon find a way.” Indigo told him, his words growing muffed to me.

My eyes almost shut but I opened them, shaking my head slightly and quickly glancing at them to check if they caught me dozing. Damn I only ate and sat all day.

What the hell was making me so sleepy? Stomach full of food?

“Sleepy, Violet?” Klaus asked me. I shook my head in a no, embarrassed for the third time today.

Give me that stupid award!

Klaus chuckled. Indigo got up, “Come on. I’ll put you to sleep, little one. You’re going to have to get up early.” He said. I looked at the rest of them and Ava nodded her head so I got up and took his hand.

“Um, Goodnight.” I said to Laura’s parents.

“Goodnight. We’ll see you tomorrow.” Ava said with a slight chuckle. I bid them a bye as Indigo and I went upstairs. A yawn passed my lips for at least thirty seconds while we walked the stairs. Indigo chuckled and opened the door. I went in and threw myself on the bed. Indigo pulled the covers on me and sat on the edge of the bed.

“I’m proud of you, you know.” He said and I smiled. I put my head on his lap and closed my eyes. He caressed my head until I knew I was asleep.

I opened my eyes from the same dream I had seen the day before yesterday. I was tied to a chair and a crooked nosed woman was torturing me. She kept saying the same thing, “You cannot save him.”

Who was this person I couldn’t save? And the crooked nosed woman had serious issues. She was annoying and I wanted to make sure she didn't have a nose at all!

I ignored the stupid dream. I moved my head to see Laura sleeping beside me and then at the clock. It was only six in the morning. I stretched myself in bed with a yawn. Laura opened her eyes slowly and smiled at me, “Good morning,” she said, in a sleepy voice.

“Morning.” I said back, yawning again. She sat up while I was still lying.

“Jane will be here at seven. Go get ready.” She told me. I quickly stood up from the bed and saluted her, stomping my left leg, “Yes, ma'am.”

Indigo was at the door, looking at me with a smirk. I ran to him and hugged him. He quickly pulled me to his chest and hugged me back.

“You look ready to get worked up.” He said. I looked at him and then moved back and saluted him, “Yes, sir. I am ready.” I said. Both of them laughed.

I got ready and went down to find Laura and Indigo in the kitchen. Okay they looked cuter when they cooked together.

“You guys are so cute.” I said with a mischievous smile. “But don’t worry bro. Nothing else is going to top your cuteness.”

“Violet.” He warned. Laura was trying to control her laughter.

“What?” I asked innocently at which he smiled and came to sit next to me.
We were having breakfast to which Indigo reminded me to eat light. They made me drink a glass full of milk.

“I am not five anymore!” I groaned. Indigo rolled his eyes and closed my nose. I opened my mouth on instinct, yelping. “Dude!” I slapped his hand away.

“Drink.” Was all he said.

“Atleast, put something in it.” I mumbled, rubbing my nose. He told me he’d get something today to make it better.

I left the house after two whole days. Of course with Indigo and Laura behind me. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes. It smelled wonderful outside. Trees covered on all sides with the sunlight trying to reach the ground. The morning dew was still dripping down from the leaves and wetting the ground.

The weather was really pleasant.

We sat on the chairs outside on the porch and waited for Jane and Klaus.
“What are they going to teach me exactly?” I asked them.

“You need some muscle building first.” Indigo chuckled. I looked at myself and gave him a side-eyed glare. I wasn’t that thin. I was average, I guess. I started doing yoga and then followed the shitty diet the doctors had suggested, which pft, did not last for more than five days. I couldn’t go without eating.

I had a big appetite! Screw the diet!

But I continued doing yoga. That was one good thing I had done. But I still had a lot of fat in places because I used to miss it sometimes. I always choose sleep over yoga and I did not regret it.

“I have muscle!” I said, rolling my eyes.

“You do. But you need to build it so it helps you in training later.” He said.

“Training?” I asked.

“Yup, Sparring, boxing, water sports and everything.” He told me.

“Woah... really?”I asked, with wide eyes.

Was he trying to turn me into one of those ring fighters?

But then I thought. They talked about my wolf being strong. Dad said I was strong. Everyone here said that actually. So why not? What harm would it do to me if I learnt self defense?

If I was getting a chance to learn something new, I wasn’t going to waste it. Might as well come in handy one day! Then I can be a badass some day. And when some villain tries to get to me I could beat his ass real bad and then I can turn around and walk away swaying my hips, my fair flying with a satisfied smirk on my face along with fire roaring in the back and the villain whimpering in pain, holding his crotch.

Wow. I wanted to cry at my imagination.

“What is it that is making you smirk?” Laura asked with a raised eyebrow and a smirk on her own face.

“Many things.” I said, raising a shoulder shyly. Laura gave a quick wink.

I heard Jane, jogging up to the house. I got up and stood near the edge of the porch. I waved at her with my hand high in the air. She waved back and ran inside the gate. “Morning.” She greeted us.

“Morning.” I said and wore my shoes. I was so ready for this. The energy was rilling me up with so much enthusiasm and adrenaline, it made me feel so good. I did not feel like this was something new rather it felt like this was something I was meant to learn. Or I should have learnt before.

“You look so ready.” Jane said and I looked up while tying my laces.

“Yes, I am.” I cheered, with a salute. She looked at Laura and Indigo and they laughed together. I stood up and saw Klaus entering the gate.

“Good energy, girl.” He said as he came to stand beside Jane.

“Let’s go. Where are we going?” I asked.

“For some days, just around the cabin. We’ll start with running.” Jane said.

So easy. I could definitely run!

I gave her a thumbs up as she jerked her head towards the gate. I looked at Indigo and Laura and gave him a smile before running out. We ran outside the gate as I kept jogging on the spot and looked at them.

“Ten lapses. Behind me.” Mafia Jane ordered. I nodded while still jogging. Klaus stood where he was. She ran ahead of me and I followed her like a puppy. She said we were going to run the circumference around the cabin.

It felt good to jog. It felt like I was coming  more to life. After around two lapses, she began to increase her speed. I pushed myself more to catch up to her. Three lapses and I was sweating. Four lapses and Jane increased more speed. I was still keeping up with her. Five lapses and this time I was panting, sweating and trying to push my legs harder against the ground. She motivated me while she ran shouting, “come on, Violet” “run faster” “move your legs” “don’t stop”

I did as she instructed. I ran faster in the sixth lap, using all my energy. My legs hurt but I did not stop. I still kept up with her. I had already drained so much energy around the ninth lap.

One more. Just one more. I was running like a zombie now. My body dangling side by side, not knowing where my legs were taking me as I just followed Jane.

At the end of the tenth lapse, I saw Klaus standing, his hands at the back. I was still trying to cover up while Jane was already next to him, no evidence of the run we just had on her face.

Damn stamina.

I somehow reached upto them and put my hands on my knees and began panting hard. Sweat covered every part of my body as I tried to wipe some of it from my face with the back of my hand.

I regretted saying it was so easy. It wasn’t. At all!

This wasn’t over yet. My shitty brain reminded me.

“Push ups. No target. We’ll count.” Jane said, before I could even stand up straight. I raised my hand and showed her two fingers indicating to her to give me two minutes.

“No. Stand straight,” She ordered. Klaus stood, observing me. I stood up still breathing heavily.

“Get down. Hold your weight on your hands and toes.” She said and added, “Quickly.”

Damn she was strict.

I quickly got down and did as she said. She got down beside me in the same position. Klaus suddenly whistled and Jane started with her push up which was also my cue to begin. I began slowly, struggling. Jane was doing it so easily. When I looked at her I felt like I could do it but my poor hands did not agree. I tried pushing myself up, using all my strength. I was still at three while she was at fifteen.

I concentrated and took a deep breath, paying attention to my own moves. I was around twelve when my body began to pull me to the ground. Jane stood up and held my waist. “Give me three more, girl. You can do it.” She said, encouraging me.

I let the weight of my waist on her hands and finally gave her three more. I fell to the ground, breathing heavily. My hands were shaking. I turned on my back slowly.

“Crunches next.” She said, ignoring me.

Let me breathe, woman!

She came to sit near my legs and held my feet to the ground. I bent my knees and looked at her. “No, Violet. Those eyes aren’t going to work on me.”

Dammit!

“Hands behind your head and begin when the whistle goes.” She instructed. As soon as I put my hands behind my head Klaus whistled.

What the hell!

I began slowly, pushing my weight up, trying to hold my hands behind my head as they were slipping. I did some more and the area between my chest and stomach started feeling heavy. I tried really hard to concentrate and to hold my hands behind my head when I was at the seventh crunch.

Slowly my hands slipped off and I tried to use them to pull myself up, fisting my palms in the air. I did four more with my hands at my side. This time I wanted to get to fifteen. Both of them did not say anything, so I did. I did it. And when I did I collapsed to the ground, rubbing my stomach where it hurt.

She stood up and held a hand out for me to take. I raised my hand and she pulled me up to stand. “Lunges.” Was all the mafia woman said.

I did everything she said without complaint. She had me do lunges, squats, dips, pull ups on a tree branch, planks and then she made me run again. By the end of it, I looked like someone had slapped my face left and right. My hair was out from the plait I had tied, mud and sweat all over me.

Klaus took me home, holding my half dead body. He suggested I take a hot shower and then ate something.

That was the only motivation I had to clean myself and go down.

I was hungry. I was so hungry, it felt like I hadn’t eaten for days. I took a bath and drank one full bottle of water. Indigo and Laura weren't at home. I and Klaus had four pancakes and oatmeal along with the sandwich that I did not eat in the morning.

I burped, my stomach full. Klaus chuckled. “You did good today. We’ll follow the same routine tomorrow, adding more sets to it.” He said and I nodded.

It didn’t feel like some kind of a stress to me or they were forcing me to do it. I wanted to do this. My body felt good getting worked up. This was good for me. A good start.

Sometime in the afternoon, Laura came in with Villa, worrying if Jane went hard on me. I told them I felt good working out although I was sore head to toe. They got back to work about some events that were going to take place at the pack.

Lianna joined after some time. They told me Indigo had agreed with me helping Lianna which made her hug me while we squished each other, being careful of her baby.

They explained everything to me about the fest. They told me that the pups as they called them, the ones who shift for the first time when they turn fifteen will join the pack, swearing a blood oath to the Alpha. Along with them, the new ones who had joined the pack will swear an oath too.

I guessed I had to do it too.

There were a lot of events going to take place. It was like a fair which would go on for over a month or two. Then there were going to be feasts on those days where various delicacies were going to be made for everyone.

That got my full attention. I hoped they had vegan food.

I still asked them about it and Villa asked, “You’re still a veggie?” I nodded.

“Damn, girl.” She said, placing her hand under her chin, looking at me. I raised a brow.

“We are wolves, Violet. Meat is ‘the diet’.” She told me. Yeah, I mean that’s true. But that may be because I did not have my wolf.

“That has nothing to do with your wolf, if you are thinking about it. You have been a vegan since you were a child.” She told me. But the curse was given to me when I was five...

“Really?” I asked and she nodded.

Man, I was something!

“Don’t worry. Of course there’s going to be vegan food.” She told me. It kept me busy. That led them to tell me that there were over two thousand people in the pack. I was shocked. I mean I thought there would be around hundred two-hundred.

Indigo looked after so many people? Holy shit!

Indigo linked me sometime later for my apartment address. I tried focusing on the link in my head, while the others went quiet for me to concentrate. I told him my address through the link interrupting in between to ask him if he could hear me.

“I did it!” I jumped as I finished talking to Indigo. Lianna clapped hands with me while Villa and Laura chuckled.

After most of the planning was done, Villa and Lianna left. Laura told me her parents were going to leave the next morning. She said she won’t be having dinner here, wanting to have one dinner with her family alone. She grew a bit sad about it. I hugged to make her feel better.

Indigo came back after some time to have lunch. We had our lunch together and again that made me sleepy. I was going upstairs when I heard my phone ring. Indigo was behind me the next second with Laura.

I hadn’t even used it much since the day I came here. I entered the room and ran before it went off. I checked to see who’s call it was with Indigo behind me. As soon as I picked up to see the name, Indigo growled behind me.

“What should I do?” I asked them.

“Pick up.” Indigo said. I swiped the green button and put the phone to my ear.

“Hello.” I said without being scared.

“Hey, Hi. I called to check if you were alright. I did not receive your call, sweet girl.” Raven said.

“Yeah. I am fine. How are you?” I asked, not knowing what to say to her.

“I’m good. How far have you reached?” she asked me.

“Actually um. I did not go there.” I told her. There was silence on the other side as well as here. I turned to look at Indigo and Laura. She had held his hand tightly preventing him from doing something.

“What? Why?” Raven asked. I glanced at them for an answer.

“Tell her you’ll explain it to her when you meet her. Ask for her address.” Indigo was quick.

“I’ll explain when I come to meet you. Tell me where I can.” I said, then bit my nails.

“Violet, you sure you’re fine. I told you your cure is at the Silver Summit.” She sounded worried.

“Yup, I am fine. Just tell me where to meet you.” I pushed further.

“Uh, listen, give me a call when you come back. I’ll let you know when and where to meet me.” She told me.

“Oh. okay. I’ll call you.” I replied as Indigo nodded. She hung up and Indigo took the phone from me, saying he’ll ask Alistair to trace it or something. They went to do their work as I took a nap sore from working out.

I only woke up when I heard laughter downstairs.
