Violet
With a big joyous smile on my face, my steps jumpy and my hands swaying beside me, I was going home. Nearing the gate I frowned and stood rooted upon what I saw in front of my eyes, the smile on my face vanishing. There playing on the front lawn was the younger version of myself, trying to plant a flower. A few feet away on the stairs of the patio sat my mom while she was reading a book. Her eyes focused and her expression somewhat like a scholar student.
My first instinct was to run somewhere but then I decided otherwise. Deciding to go in, I took a few steps inside the gate, slowly at first, looking directly at mom. But she did not notice me. It was like I was there but I wasn’t there. Like I was invisible to her. I looked at the little version of me, trying to plant the small stem of the Dianthus that had a beautiful pink flower on it.
No wonder people called me adorable.
That little version of me was cutely digging in the mud, hands soaked in it and the frock and face a complete mess. In one hand I held a plastic shovel and the other hand was trying to form a hole in the soil. I couldn't take my eyes off my little self with a small blue watering can beside me.
I couldn’t help but grow fond of this version of me, adorably gripping the shovel tight in one of those tiny hands, rather than using it. Instead I was using my hand as I was trying to dig up the mud.
How cute but stupid.
Taking my eyes off my little self, I looked up to see mom still reading. She looked so beautiful and I did have the many features her face had. I did look like her, obviously having the same eyes, the cheekbones, the small forehead with the naturally long black hair. Gaining up some courage I went and sat beside her and tried to touch her. Instead of coming in contact with her, my hand slipped through her form, completely, as if she was a hallucination. A dream of some sort.
My hand went to cover my mouth as I gasped. I didn't know what was happening. Tears welled my eyes as I kept looking at mom. I wanted to talk to her, I wanted to tell her I was alive and that Indigo found me. I wanted to thank her and dad for saving us, for protecting us however they could. But she continued to read the book, flipping a page and checking on my little version every several minutes. I sat there for sometime, leaning back against the wooden pillar of the patio, looking at her and my little version.
I couldn't stop thinking about what was happening to me. Why couldn't they see me? Why wasn't I able to touch them? My tears wouldn't stop, having to continuously wipe them as I looked at mom.
My mom, just sitting there, I could tell alot about her. She radiated authority, power and a great amount of warmth as well. She had a calmness that surrounded her with the contrasting fire in her eyes. Her beauty was unmatched with her long black locks loose on her shoulders.
I was about to call her out, but that’s when I heard dad’s voice. My dad's voice!
“What is my best girl doing?” I turned to the source of his voice. He came from around the backyard, his t-shirt covered in mud. The smaller version of me practically jumped at his voice and ran to him, my feet trying to balance that wobbly body.
“Dad, look I pante-ed a flo-el!” My little version said, jumping up and down, looking at him. I saw Indigo follow behind dad, shirtless, as he wiped his hands on his pants. He was covered in mud too, his cuteness couldn't go unnoticed. He looked a lot more different than he looked now. Mom looked at Indigo as he came back with a smiley face and stood beside dad. She had a constant smile on her face.
“Aw, my favourite girl planted a flower. It’s so beautiful. Just like her!” Dad said as he picked me up and kissed my cheek.
“Thank you, dad.” I said and kissed his cheek, giggling. His dimples and mine matched with the smile.
“I have a surprise for you,” he said, wiping the dirt off my small face.
“Le-lly?!” The small version of me asked him with those big dovey eyes and a baby voice. He laughed and mom joined him. She got up and started running in the direction of the backyard saying, “Who’s going to beat me to run there first?”
“Dad, dad lun! In-ee-go, lun,” I screamed as I held his neck tight.
Guess, I had a problem with R.
Indigo ran after mom, shouting, “Mom wait!” Dad just had to take, like, ten steps and we were all in the backyard.
The invisible me got up and followed them. As I reached I saw all of them looking at an artificially built waterfall that I guessed dad had made. It was huge and eye-catching. Football sized stones were placed upon one another. Some stones were spread across the waterfall, which looked like boulders where one could sit on. Beach sand was sprawled around them to give it some originality. Climbers were hanging loose in places making sure not to miss the greenery that bloomed around a natural waterfall. A small hole was dug on the ground at the base of the waterfall, cemented well enough so the water couldn't escape into the ground. It also had pebbles in it with a lot of beach sand to make sure, slipping over the stones was avoided.
Truly perfect and impressive.
God! Dad had some amazing skills.
“Dad, you-al-the best.” Little me, told him and hugged him, dancing in his arms.
“Now, little girl, you promise me to never go to the waterfall alone by yourself.” His eyes focused on me. Mom looked at us and softly said, “Violet, baby you see how much effort your dad has put in building this waterfall for you? Promise both of us you won’t go there alone or even without telling us.”
How could I ever deny them anything?
It looked like I must have been a big trouble as a child. My little self shook her head frantically in a yes, “I plo-mise mom, dad.” Dad kissed my cheek again and asked Indigo to open the tap to which a pipe was connected. The water started flowing from over the topmost stones and it fell like a fall in the small area that was holed out, hitting the stones and the greenery planted around it as it drizzled all over the nearby area.
I jumped in my dad’s arms, clapping my hands and asked him to put me down. Indigo and I jumped right in and under the flowing water, as mom watched us and held me from falling down as my little legs still looked wobbly but above all I looked so damn happy.
The invisible me kept looking at the scene, smiling with tears in my eyes again until I heard dad. “Violet.” I whipped my head at him and saw him looking directly at me.
He was talking to me?
“Dad,” I said as tears ran down my cheeks, shocked that he could see me. I took a glance at the three of them but they didn’t look bothered, making me look back at dad.
“I can see you, my favourite girl. You’ve grown up so well. I love you so much, my little flower. Remember you are very strong and a different kind of special. Do not do anything without talking to Indigo. He's doing so well with you. Promise me, you will always listen to him.” He said, answering my thoughts and wanting me to promise him.
How could I ever say no to that?
I tried touching him, but it was the same. My hand went through him causing me to gasp and stumble a little. Why couldn’t I touch him? “Promise me, Violet.” He said again a little louder, catching my attention.
“I promise dad, I promise.” I choked between my words. It was too overwhelming. I wanted to hug him, be with him. But I guess, this was all.
I promised myself to remember his words. I was strong and I was special. I knew I had always been strong and not just that I was going to grow to be stronger one day. I kept looking at him in hopes that he could carry me the same way he carried the little version of me or atleast held me close to him for a little while.
All I could do was give him a small smile as he looked at me with sad eyes. Suddenly, the little Indigo splashed a bucket full of water at us, making me close my eyes on impact.
My eyes opened, to look at the hardwood ceiling above me. I wiped my face to check for the evidence of water on it. But there was none. I sat up abruptly and rubbed my eyes, the sunlight beaming from the window, lighting up the room slightly.
I realised it was all a dream but I remembered every bit of it.
Dad talked to me. Again. This was some good voodoo shit dad was doing with me. But I knew he was trying to help me in a way and I needed to tell Indigo. I didn’t know why but it all felt real. Everything felt so real.
Was dad watching over us?
I ran out of the room and went downstairs. Laura was in the kitchen while Indigo was going through some papers. He instantly turned to look at me keeping the papers on the coffee table. He waved his hand, calling me to sit beside him with a big smile.
I quickly went and sat beside him and hugged him. With the warmth I felt like the safest person on earth next to my brother. He chuckled and kissed my crown, wrapping an arm around me.
“Dad talked to me, again.” I told him in my morning voice, my head in his chest. He slightly stiffened beside me but quickly covered it.
“What did he say, little one?” He asked, massaging my head and pulling me closer to him.
“He said the same thing, that I was strong and different, kind of special..something..” I looked at him and his eyebrows furrowed together. I signed and moved back to sit straight.
“Only that?” he asked, knowing there is more.
“No, he um, actually I saw that my little version was planting a small flower in the front lawn. Mom was sitting on the steps at the door while reading a book. It felt like I was there, for real. But I couldn’t touch them and they couldn't see me.” I frowned a little, sad. He looked at me like I was telling him a story. His expressions did not flatter for even a minute. Laura came in from the kitchen and looked at me the same way. She stood at the end of the couch without saying anything.
“Then dad and you came from the backyard, mud all over you guys. You looked so cute and then dad told me he had a surprise for me which had all of us run to the backyard. I saw he had built a waterfall for me. I mean, can you imagine!” I exaggerated at the end. He nodded his head and looked at Laura for a moment and back at me.
“There’s more. I just stood there looking at mom, the smaller versions of us playing in the water. That’s when dad turned to talk to me. Literally talked to me! He told me this strong and special thing and then he said- always listen to Indigo, Violet. Don’t do anything without asking Indigo. He said you are doing so well with everything. The best part is he made me promise him!” I finished and looked at him. He shook his head, smiling brightly.
“Dammit dad!” he chuckled, to himself. Laura was smiling too. She came and sat beside me, putting a hand on my back.
“I don’t know what to say, seriously.” She laughed.
I kept turning my head left and right with raised brows, expecting an answer to whatever they were thinking.
“Violet, the dream you saw, it did happen. It is all real. I don’t know how that is even possible,” he said, shaking his head. I shrugged my shoulders.
I don't know anything either dude.
“Make sure you keep that promise." I nodded. "But Violet, you did not tell me about you being special part before,” he raised a brow.
Oh crap. I kind of ignored that part earlier.
I looked everywhere but him, “I did not?- I, uh, don’t remember. Must've slipped..”
He laughed along with Laura, gathering me a strong side hug. “Don’t keep anything from me ever again,” I nodded.
“Breakfast is ready,” Indigo said and my face lit up like the star on a Christmas tree.
Don’t we all live for food?
Indigo asked me to freshen up, so we could eat together. I looked at the time it was nine in the morning. I quickly went to my room and did my morning routine.
Shit, brush, shower, get ready.
Laura had made me a veggie sandwich with a lot of cheese. They told me her parents were going to be here today. It was my stupid mouth that quickly blurted out ‘I hear wedding bells’ before I remembered they don’t do marriages here. Indigo choked on his omelette, literally, while Laura laughed, shaking her head.
“Who are we meeting today? Klaus told me I’ll be seeing new faces.” I asked them.
“You already met our Beta and our Luna,” Indigo winked at Laura, making her blush, “You’ll meet our gamma, delta and the head warrior with their families.”
Hierarchy huh!
“Really, I mean..wow. Do we follow the hierarchy here?” I questioned, surprised. He nodded.
“Why?” I asked and both of them smiled.
"We are more werewolves than humans. Our wolf side is stronger and like normal wolves we need to keep order. Just like humans have titles to keep order. Same way. They don’t have this type of hierarchy….but we do. An alpha is needed as the head of the pack. A luna the heart. A beta the right hand and the gamma the left. It just follows. It’s how everything keeps the pack organised. Our own wolves run according to the hierarchy. All of them know who is who when they are born. We need to keep both our sides balanced in a way…. Like an Alpha is meant to be alpha. A beta is meant to be beta and so on. Sometimes, it may change due to certain situations. But you are who you are. Always look at it positively.” Laura explained. I nodded my head slowly in understanding.
“That is cool.” I said, with a mouthful of food.
“Eli linked me. They are on their way.” Indigo said. I sank back in the chair not knowing if I would be able to remember them or not. I atleast had to respect their feelings because they knew me and I felt it through these bonds.
We got up and went to the living room. Instantly there was a knock on the door. Indigo went to open it. Klaus stood at the door and Indigo made him come in. He walked in front of Laura and bowed his head but Laura hugged him in return. Laura was such a good soul.
Klaus then hugged me quickly, kissing my crown.
There was a loud knock on the door and Indigo looked at Klaus. Klaus just gathered me and sat on the couch with me beside him.
Too much cavemaness!
Indigo opened the door and there was standing a small girl with a big smile on her face. “Uncle Indigo, you are back!” She jumped to hug him. He laughed and hugged her back as he carried her.
“Yes I am, smarty!” he said, looking at her as he kissed her cheek. He let her down as she ran in and went right to Laura next. “Oh my goddess, my mom was so happy when she found out you were Luna. Now you stay here, and train me to be a doctor like you!” Laura hugged her and kissed her cheek.
Good god the girl was a package. A really exciting package. She was so chirpy and damn she wanted to be a doctor. I mean they study so much, not leaving even one brain cell unused.
My sorry ass brain cannot register so much. Nope. I myself wouldn't trouble my one and only life. Being a doctor required patience, dedication, perfection and the urge to not vomit at the sight of some medical condition.
I cringe even at the sight of a boil.
She turned to look at me and waved her hand saying, “Hi.”
I did the same, “Hi, I’m Violet.” I told her.
She giggled beside Laura and said, “I am Layla Vicky Mathew. I am eleven and I want to be a doctor!” She was so sweet with her little speech.
“Wow. That’s so cool." I giggled back. "Which class are you in now?" I conversed further. While she and I talked, I heard voices coming from outside, one of them was Eli. “I am telling you, you are going to shit your pants. You should have gotten an extra pair with you.”
“I am losing a lot of money already, Eli. I don't want to shit myself, I cannot believe until I confirm. Shut up and let me see for-” he was at the door when he saw me. His grey eyes bore into mine, wide with shock. His left hand went to his mouth and he held it there.
“Move aside asshole.” Eli pushed him and walked inside. He still stood there.
“Dad looks so shocked.” Layla said giggling, looking at Laura.
So he was Lyla’s father. Right, she had the same big eyebrows and big ears as him. His attention shifted to Indigo and he bowed his head, acknowledging him. He looked at Laura and bowed at her, smiling.
“Come in.” Indigo told him. He walked in and stood beside Eli but his eyes didn’t leave mine. Vicky looked cool, with long brown hair. I bet the man had tattoos under his sleeves. He was really well built. His shirt’s top three buttons were undone, showing his broad chest.
Eli was trying to control his laughter and showed Vicky something on his phone. I guessed he clicked a picture of him. Vicky ignored him and smiled at me and I returned it.
My gaze went to four people that Indigo asked to move in. All of them shared the same expressions as Vicky. One of them looked very similar to Vicky, I guessed was his sister. She had the same brown hair as his. The other woman looked like a simple hometown woman with her soft facial features.
The man had a particularly lean figure, nothing like the others. A woman was at his side, his arm circling her waist in a caring way. Both of their eyes on me. Plus their height difference was really huge.
I felt a little awkward as all of them stared at me. Klaus squeezed my hand, noticing me. All throughout the staring, they did not miss bowing their heads at both Indigo and Laura.
Woah, these two were like gods here.
“Oh Goddess!” The simple hometown woman in a white sweater top said. She began walking towards me and sat down on her knees in front of me. “She is ree-al?!” she asked Klaus, looking at him, still in doubt. He simply nodded with a small smile.
She already had tears in her eyes. I put a hand on hers and smiled at her, trying to make her feel at ease. I wanted to convey to her that I certainly could understand her emotions since I felt it, the bond. I felt it with her. The same way I had felt with Indigo and Eli. She was grieving about something too. Just like Klaus, I could feel the sorrow inside her heart turn to joy somehow. I could feel it.
I bent down to hug her. She quickly wrapped her arms around me and let her tears flow. I didn’t know what these guys had been through after that day. I didn’t know if they had lost someone they loved. If it was much harder on them than it was on me. But it was like me being here gave them some kind of healing. Because I felt it myself.
She moved back and put her hand on my face. I did not even realise I was crying until she wiped the tears off my face. Vicky came to stand behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. She quickly wiped her own eyes and got up. I got up along with her, holding her hand. Vicky too had tears in his eyes.
Oh my god! Were they so happy to see me? I didn’t even remember them.
He immediately pulled me into a hug and I heard a small growl from Indigo. “Where the hell were you all this time?” Vicky asked, breaking his own barriers to let go of the tears.
I felt the bond with him too. I didn’t know how this bond still worked with me. It made me feel so much.
“I-,” I choked. He rubbed my back to even out my breathing. He was warm too, like the others. He looked back at me once my breathing was normal and kissed my crown, “I swear I am never letting you out of this territory ever again.” I laughed, through my tears and nodded.
A woman who looked like was ready to rip anyone apart right that moment, came to stand beside Vicky. She gave out a badass female vibe. She had that perfect mafia aura around her, like she was a woman with authority and a woman who wouldn't give two shits. Her hair was tied up in a bun, the one which the police-woman wore. But even a mafia woman like her was trying to control her tears.
You can’t really tell a person from their looks. It was true.
“For Goddess’s sake Vicky, move your ass.” She beamed.
“Don’t go all gamma on her on the first day itself.” He told her, glaring at her. She returned a death glare and he moved aside comforting the woman who I was sure was his wife. No, his mate.
The mafia woman looked at me and signed. I did not know what to do with her. Seriously!
She looked here and there and finally hugged me. “Damn you, girl!” She said in my ear, chuckling slightly but I could feel her emotions. No fuck, the bond was a mess with her. Why the hell was she avoiding to display her feelings?! “I missed you.” She said softly and hugged me tighter, almost crushing me.
“I’m sorry. I, uh, don’t remember anything.” I said in the same way, whispering into her ear. She chuckled again. Moving back, holding my shoulders she said, “It’s okay. We’re going to be together for a long time now. I have so much to work on you. I’m Jane by the way.”
Okay Mafia Jane.
And work? Was she going to hand me a gun or what?
“Violet,” I smiled, although I could say I was a little frightened of her. She chuckled again, shaking her head which was a real happy laugh. Others were so quiet. Pin drop quiet. Indigo’s expression was killer with Eli standing behind him of course.
There was another couple. The guy walked to me first with his mate behind him. He was trying hard to control his tears too. His green hazel eyes were so beautiful. He touched my shoulder and kissed my forehead first. It brought a big smile to my face and I jumped to hug him instead, causing him to chuckle.
I was feeling too many emotions for my brain to process. They gave me hope of some sort. Making me feel at home was all I needed since I came here. I myself wasn’t going to leave this pack, ever.
This was my home. Nobody takes me away from my home ever again. Period.
“If I knew you were alive, I would have tracked you day and night until I found you, little sister.” He said, with glistened green eyes. His face was sculpted perfectly. I couldn’t help but notice his nose moving after every few minutes. It was like when the character in the cartoon sniffs its nose to the smell of food.
“I know, big brother,” his eyes lit up to my reply.
“Really?” He asked, raising a brow with a big smile on his face. He quickly wiped the lone tear that made its way down his eyes.
“Well, no,” I said, feeling shy and at the same time, wiping my own tears as well. He waved to his mate and wrapped a hand around her waist.
“This is my mate, Lianna and I am delta Alistair.” He said. She smiled at me and hugged me excitedly.
“We have two more entries for Friday’s girls,” she giggled.
Ohkay! Wow! I loved women like her. Everything about her was bright. Since the time she entered, I could make out she had a cheerful charm in her. She was like a little firecracker who sparkled to me with just one sentence. And I truly believed she was that.
And of course there was some girl shit I could get myself involved in.
“The hell we do!” Vicky’s mate, whose name I still had to learn, said. There was something more I felt about Lianna. I did not know how to say it but something in me told me to take care of her. I held her hand and kept staring at it as I felt a small bond, not with her though. I could feel two different bonds with her.
My hand moved to touch her stomach, involuntarily.
“I feel a bond,” I said, my eyes on her small grown belly. But then I also heard gasps.
Realising what I was doing, I quickly took my hand away from her stomach and all of them looked at me, shell-struck. Fuck, I was so embaressed.
Oh no! Stupid, Stupid!
Embarrassment at it’s best.
Give me an embarrassment award somebody!
I quickly apologized, covering a little, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to. It just happened. I don’t know what came over me. I felt this bond and I don’t know what happened. I’m so sorry.” She hugged me again with a smile, shaking me in the process.
See what I meant about her being a sparkle of a firecracker.
I was still tense. “It’s okay. Calm down.” She said, rubbing my back and continuing, “I am pregnant. You feel a bond with the baby. Don’t freak out. It’s fine. You are going to be an aunt. Voohoo!” She said, trying to raise excitement from the whole situation with her cheerful nature. I somewhat signed in relief. She moved back and linked her arms with mine, as we looked at everyone.
“Uh, congratulations!” I told both of them, still embarrassed. They smiled at me dearly and Alistair even kissed my hair again.
“Come here Violet.” Indigo called me. I gave Lianna a smile as she winked and rubbed my arm before letting me go. Indigo quickly hugged me and nuzzled me like his wolf used to do. He held me there as his chest was vibrating with his growls that I believed he was hardly trying to control.
“Take a seat everyone.” Indigo said as he let go, kissing my forehead. While everyone looked for a place Vicky’s mate came to me, “I’m Villa by the way. I figured I did not tell you my name. Also you were a naughty little girl, Violet.” She told me and I giggled.
“Should I keep being that?” I asked her with a naughty expression.
“Goddess, absolutely yes!” She screamed with a swing of her hands. Laura and Jane stood there talking to each other.
Alistair sat on the single couch with Lianna on his lap. Vicky sat on one of the bean bags with his daughter on his lap. She was asking him questions about me and why everyone was hugging me and crying. Such a curious little girl she was. Vicky answered her, playing with her hair.
Klaus sat at one corner of the couch. Eli brought chairs from the kitchen. On one of them sat Villa. Indigo and Laura sat on the couch beside Klaus and Eli took another chair. Before Indigo could call me to sit beside him Jane waved me to sit with her on the bean bag. We adjusted perfectly and she wrapped an arm around my shoulder, like a friend would. I leaned back slightly into her hand, feeling much more comfortable with her.
These guys were no strangers to me after I felt the bond. They were a part of me now. Someone I could trust. I was glad Indigo decided to introduce me to them.
“To answer all your questions, I found her at the Glowing River. I brought her home and found out Laura was here.” Indigo told everyone.
“I kind of knew she was your mate. Your scent was getting her so riled up. But I couldn’t just come to a conclusion. She could have been a potential mate. Although I see, destiny has its own plans.” Villa said, with a soft look on her face.
Klaus shook his head in a yes. “True,” he said. Indigo pulled Laura close to him as she shied a little.
“So guys, we have people we need to find.” Indigo said, grabbing everybody’s attention.
Alistair smirked, “Who?”
“A witch named Raven and a person who used to send money for Violet to her orphanage.” Indigo told them.
“You were in an orphanage all this time?” Vicky asked and I nodded.
“Precious Home.” I told him. “I tried finding who sent money for me but I couldn’t.” I said and gave a tight-lipped smile.
“That is a rather high maintenance, five star orphanage.” Alistair said. It was true. It was really high maintenance with a really tight security and five star hospitality but it was all null and void with the mischief I had created there.
“You know about it?” I asked him.
“You’ll be surprised with how much I know, Violet,” he said, with a smirk and a wink. His mate rolled her eyes.
“Stop bragging about yourself, Big nose,” Jane chimed in.
“Jealous.” Alistair asked with the same smirk.
“Of you. Pft!” Jane scoffed. The others rolled their eyes as if it was normal. Lianna gave him a look and he shut his mouth. I laughed at them though.
“Alistair, I need you to get into it as soon as possible.” Indigo told him.
“What about this witch Raven?” Vicky asked, his daughter now playing with her own hair.
“I want her alive. We have a map that has her scent. She gave it to Violet.” Indigo informed.
“Why would a witch give a map to her?” Jane asked.
Indigo signed, “The curse is still on her.” That caused everyone to grow serious.
“What does this Raven have to do with her curse?” Villa asked.
“Raven gave her the map, saying she needed to go to the Silver Summit for her cure.” Indigo told them.
“What?” “What?” “Silver Summit.?” They all jumped in their seats.
What was with this place anyway?
“I’ll find her first thing. I do not want any other witch near her again.” Alistair’s demeanour changed. His expression turned into a sinister one.
“Uh Ali, please don’t hurt her. She was really nice to me. I trust her.” I said.
“No, Violet you do not understand. Witches ar-”
“She swore a blood oath to her.” Indigo said, making all of them scream.
“SHIT!” “FUCK” “WHAT THE HELL?” “A FUCKING BLOOD OATH!” Jane, Alistair, Lianna and Vicky said all together. I moved back a little, fliching.
Yeah the oath. Big deal, babies.
It was Eli who spoke this time. “I am counting the amount of money I’m going to win.” There was a big grin on his face, causing Klaus to give him a look.
“Are you guys forgetting that there are two children here?” Villa scolded them. Layla was smiling though.
“Dad always uses them.” She said, laughing. Villa's glare said ‘you just wait until we get home’. He tried giving her an innocent look but that did not work. Vicky slumped back in the seat, his daughter's head now on his chest.
“Lyla close your ears girl.” Alistair told her.
Seriously. I laughed. His mate stared at him with a scowl on her face. He placed the pointy fingers of both his hands on her stomach.
“What are you doing?” She asked him.
“I’m closing the baby’s ears so it does not listen,” he said with a shrug.
"Good man." Eli said, giving him a thumbs up. All of us burst out into laughter, including Indigo. Damn, both of them were crackheads.
“Luna, do you have any medicine to treat his twisted head?” Lianna asked Laura.
“What? Babe!” he looked at her, not believing what she said. She looked at Laura with a pleading look.
“Of course!” Laura laughed. I had laughed and cried two days back to back. I never felt this happy before or even loved for that matter. This was where I was meant to be. I couldn’t even stop bragging about my new and only home.
“Okay. enough of that now. How did she look like Violet?” Vicky asked.
“She was I guess in her fifties. Long raven coloured hair. Like really long and thick hair. Black eyes. Oh yeah, she goes to the Fortune hospital for her hair treatment.” I answered him. The hospital could give them a lead on her.
He nodded. “You said something about a cure. What about it?” Vicky asked, looking at Indigo.
Indigo signed, shaking his head in a no. All of them were silent for a while. Laura held his hand and comforted him as I kept looking at him, hoping he was alright.
“Her wolf, she tries to break out every month, since she was fifteen.” Indigo said.
“Goddess!” Villa gasped and looked at me. All of their eyes were on me, a worried expression on their faces. Jane pulled me closer to her, wanting to hide me from the world.
Okay! This was really awkward.
“I haven’t heard anyone survive for more than twelve hours with that pain.” Jane said, rubbing my arm. Vicky nodded beside her.
What, really?
I just smiled at her. I swear I didn’t know what to say. I mean, only if I knew what all of it meant. They all said I was strong. Even dad said it. I don’t know what the deal was with my wolf.
Shitty little curse was to blame!
“So we find her mate too?” Alistair asked, earning two growls. Indigo looked at him like he was ready to kill him while Klaus glared at him.
“I do not want her to leave this pack, Alpha. I wouldn’t let it happen myself. I said it so her curse could be broken. We all know how much that pain is.” Alistair quickly said.
Why would I leave the pack when I find my mate? Nope, I was not going to leave this place anytime soon.
Indigo closed his eyes and ran a hand through his hair. “I know. But even that is not going to be easy. For now, find the witch and the anonymous donor.” Indigo’s voice was filled with a command.
“Yes, Alpha,” Ali replied.
“Also, we have to have someone arranged so her stuff can be brought here.” Indigo said.
Alistair looked at me and smiled. “Sure thing. Little sister’s back home, bitches.” He raised his mate’s hand, as a cheer instead of a glass. She looked so done with him. He lightened up the mood quickly as everyone chuckled at his antics.
“Wait a minute. I have something to add.” Eli said, grabbing everyone’s attention. Klaus growled at him, totally irritated. He gave his dad a pouty face but stood up anyway.
“Okay, folks. Be ready to hear this. Vicky close Layla’s ears and Alistair close the baby’s,” Eli said, pointing at both of them. Jane and I exchanged looks, amused, knowing he would say something really crazy. Indigo chuckled and Klaus shook his head at his son.
“Go on Eli.” Villa urged, beside him. Everybody’s eyes were on him. Layla did not fight her dad as he had closed her ears. I laughed, knowing she could definitely hear everything.
Eli was taking a deep breath when Indigo….
“She did not see the barrier and drove through it.” Indigo said.
“WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? HOW?” “NO SHIT” “WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?” “IS THE BARRIER IN PLACE?” “SHE DID NOT SEE IT?” Jane, Lianna, Vicky, Villa and Alistair all jumped.
While everyone screamed, jumping up from their seats. I was like.
What barrier did I even drive through?
But no. What was more interesting was the look on Eli's face. Eli looked at Indigo like his heart was broken into a million pieces. His mouth was open with shock and his hand on his heart. Poor guy looked completely shattered.
They all looked at Indigo and me simultaneously and ignored Eli. Completely!
“Sit your asses down kids.” Klaus said with a growl. They all sat down while Eli still stood there. Shattered. He had not recovered from the shock.
“I hate you, Indigo. You and I are so over.” Eli said, with a mock hurt, wiping the fake tears.
“Good for me.” Indigo replied, kissing Laura’s cheek. Eli gasped.
So dramatic.
“Cannot agree less Eli.” Laura, kissed Indigo’s cheek. Though from my eyes it looked like they were having a kissing battle of their own. Jane nudged me and I looked at her. Our eyes just made contact and I knew she felt the same.
Damn telepathy. She gave me a coy smile, knowing exactly what was going on in my head.
Klaus cleared his throat. Holy shit, even he noticed. Not only him, everyone did. Indigo looked elsewhere and Laura blushed. These two were so cute.
“So, how do you think she did not see it? Is the barrier vanishing or what?” Villa asked, breaking the tension.
“The barrier is still there, I checked with it yesterday itself. We all knew it was Violet you brought back so I wanted to be a lot more sure about it. And she was not able to see it but maybe it was her wolf..just maybe. I am sure.. Hell, She even sensed the bond with the baby. Humans can't sense bonds!” Alistair said. “What do you think, Indigo?”
He nodded, “You're right. Her wolf is something else. I don’t know what to conclude with only that.”
“I also cannot stop thinking about her aura. My wolf, he is anxious since I hugged her. Never sensed something like that before. It's different from her scent.” Alistair said, taking everyone’s attention.
Okay. At this point I was not even surprised with the number of things that were different with me.
“Shit, I thought it was nothing. It is like it isn’t there but it is there. I am sitting right next to her!” Jane said and the others agreed.
“I know.” Indigo replied.
“My wolf could smell it better, but again only if you agree.” Alistair looked at Indigo.
“My wolf won’t allow it yet. But soon.” he told him. Alistair nodded.
“Um, what barrier were you guys talking about?” I asked, basically to everyone. They had all freaked out about it so I wanted to know.
“It’s just an illusion for the humans, so they do not enter the pack line or even cross it. It is invisible to those who have their wolves but to those who don’t they will run into a wall or something like that, avoiding them from entering. But you Violet, though you still don’t have your wolf. You did not see it. Not only our pack barrier, you did not even see the midnight pack barrier.” Klaus explained.
Maybe I was just blind or something.
I gave him a tight-lipped smile instead and nodded in understanding.
“You don’t have to worry Violet. It gives us an idea that your wolf is there and that she is very strong.” Lianna said, this time. I looked at Indigo and he nodded with a smile.
“Jane, When do you think you can start training with her? Klaus is ready to help,” Indigo asked.
What training?
Jane smiled with all her being, “Should we start tomorrow, Violet?” She questioned me instead.
“Yeah.. I mean, why not.” I answered nervously. I never went to a gym before. I only ever did yoga.
“Good.” She patted my back.
Let’s get it then. Let the mafia training begin!
