Chapter 4: A Special Announcement
As everyone was finishing up lunch, Mr. Herriman stood up from his seat.
"Excuse me? If I could have everyone's attention please?" he requested.
Everyone immediately quieted down.
"Thank you. Madame Foster has a special announcement. Madame," he signaled.
Madame Foster stood up and announced, "Ever since Bloo's wild party, I've been thinking of having another one; just not as wild. So, I've decided that we'll have a formal party tonight."
Everyone cheered at the news.
"So get decorations, your outfits, a date if you want, and get your funky on!" she cheered.
Everyone cheered again and left the kitchen except Wilt and Jamie. They were suddenly very nervous. Wilt was because he wanted to ask Jamie and Jamie was because she was afraid that Wilt wouldn't ask her. They looked at each other for a minute then looked away quickly, blushing and laughing nervously.
"So...about that dance?" Wilt started.
"Yeah?" Jamie asked.
"I want to know if...you wanted to...um," he continued.
"Go with you?" she finished.
"Um...yes?" Wilt answered.
"I would love to, Wilt," Jamie said.
"Really?" he said with a smile.
"Yeah. I was worried you wouldn't ask me," she admitted.
"Why wouldn't I? You're smart, sweet, beautiful," Wilt listed then went wide-eyed and blushed like crazy.
Jamie giggled and told him, "Thanks. And you're intelligent, kind, and handsome."
She hugged him and he hugged her back. They both smiled at this.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to go buy a dress for my special guy," she said then kissed his cheek.
She left and Wilt touched his cheek and smiled dreamily.
Once Jamie got out of the dining room, she cheered to herself and danced in place. Mac and Bloo were looking at her weirdly, but she kept going. Frankie came out with a smirk.
"He asked you to the dance, didn't he?" she asked.
"Yes! He did!" Jamie answered.
"Who asked her?" Mac asked.
"Wilt did," Frankie said.
"He asked her to the dance without asking our permission?" Bloo wondered.
"He doesn't need our permission," Mac told him.
"Mac, this is your second imaginary friend and technically my sister. We just got her back and now she has a boyfriend," Bloo pointed out.
"I've been here for a month, Bloo. I can go with whoever I want to the dance and I chose Wilt. Plus, you've known him for a long time. He is one of the nicest imaginary friends here; if not THE nicest. So even though he's not my boyfriend (even though I want him to be), I am happy to go with him to the dance," Jamie said, whispering the "want him to be" part.
"You go girl! You want to go to the mall to pick out a dress? I have to go get some decorations for the party and find a dress of my own," Frankie offered.
"Yeah, sure," Jamie agreed then asked Mac, "You wanna come? You can pick an outfit at the mall too."
"Sure. Sounds good," Mac agreed.
"Can I come?" Bloo asked.
"No. Remember when you went to the mall last time? You called everyone a rip-off artist and kicked them in the shins just because they didn't have what you needed to make a massage chair for Madame Foster," Frankie pointed out.
"That actually doesn't surprise me," Jamie said.
"It shouldn't," Mac told her.
"Please? I promise I'll behave," Bloo stated.
Frankie, Jamie, and Mac looked at each other and shrugged.
"Alright, but Mac is staying with you to make sure you don't get in any trouble," Frankie said.
"Yes!" Bloo cheered.
"Well, let's go," Jamie urged.
They all went into the bus and drove off.
