Chapter 3

Sonic POV

The next morning arrived as the sun beams down against my ivy-covered walls. I didn't really want to go to Avalon Institute because what's the point of it. But it's my only escape to go to Camelot.

Currently sitting up, I scanned my room to see my friends sleeping on the dirty ground. They crashed into my place last night to supposedly hang out. I rolled my eyes and left my room to change.

I planned to wear a brown bandana with messy quills instead of my usual attire. Putting on my white gloves, I then wrapped my arms, ankles, and hands with sports tapes.

Entering my room, my friends are starting to wake up. "Ugh, why can't you be a gentleman and let me sleep in your bed the next time we crash over?" Rouge complained, rubbing her aching back. "I don't let dirty hags sleep on my bed," I bluntly stated. She bares out her fangs and narrows her eyes. That was the last thing she did before she fled with the others to scavage for food.

What can I say? She was too late to claim this place.

Claiming "King Arthur's" former personal castle fortress was one of the things my father cherished. He believes that he should live in an elegant place, especially when you plan to become a ruler in the near future. The Alabaster stones and the large golden statues made a nice touch on this loop-styled area but the gold is now rusty and vines are starting to grow on the stones.

"Sonic," My father spoke when I entered the kitchen. "Father," I bowed my head in respect. I look up to see him not leaving his pierced, blue eyes off of me.

He was a green hedgehog. The crown-like object from his younger years was still on his head, that being gray with three spikes rising up. The pair of scar marks on his torso was exposed, his leather jacket not covering it. He received those scars from freeing the Underworld forces and creatures.

The frown on his face curls up. "We have such a naive crowned ruler of Camelot," he commented. "What do you mean?" I questioned.

"Our 'crowned queen' proclaimed some engaging news," he makes his way towards me.

Crowned queen? Arthur, has a daughter all this time? Ha! Pathetic...

"She proclaimed to have you and those friends of yours to enter Camelot. To attend Camelot Academy," He places a hand on my shoulder. The way he did it was odd and...fatherly.

"This must be some sort of trap. If not, she must lack guileless," It could be a way to kill my gang and I. They knew we are powerful than the rest of the island. "I wouldn't be 'grinning' if I knew it was a trap," said Father.

He was right. He would've detected if something is wrong. I could feel a devious smile tugging on my lips. "When will they be arriving?"

"Well, why not you see it yourself?" We hear a honk outside of our fortress. I step out and spotted a small limousine waiting for me. I let my anticipating smile finally show up. "Don't let me down..." I heard father mutter.

The tinted window rolls down, showing Shadow with a lollipop on his mouth. "Get in."

I got in and sat right next to Blaze who sipping on champagne with Rouge. "What did I say, Rouge? Don't let your guard down," Shadow smacks Rouge drink off her hand.

"But Shadow, we're having fun," Blaze pouts. "Here. Drink with us. It'll calm you down," She hands him a glass of champagne.

He scoffs, "You don't fool me, Princess. I know that you poison it." Blaze covers her mouth and giggles. "Whoops!"

"I don't know if it's the champagne but are we seriously about to jump off the island?" Rouge caught our attention as we looked at the driver windshield.

She was right. The driver was heading to the barrier, expressionless.

I knew it. I knew it was a trap all along.

Shadow tries to kick down the back door when he sees that the door was locked. I tried smashing on the window with my elbow. The both of us look back at each other.

None of them wouldn't budge...

Rouge and Blaze uncharacteristically let out a scream of fright. The driver passes through the barrier as we anticipated for our ending. When we didn't feel like we're falling, we checked the windshield and sees us crossing a magical bridge. We decided to stay silent to think through what just happen.

Arriving at our destination, we hear a band playing music. We check the windshield once again and sees many folks. They were waving flags from their land. One was holding a larger one with the word Welcome written on it. We got out of the car and took in our surroundings.

Standing in this giant fortress-like town, the mood is peaceful. To the rich green vegetation to the pure water. This is a huge comparison to Avalon.

"Welcome, newcomers," a disembodied voice greeted. I looked around and saw a two-tailed fox ambled toward us. He holds a genuine smile. Isn't he scared of us?

"Um..hello," Blaze replied back. "Let me introduce to myself! My name is Miles Prower, son of the blacksmith in King Arthur story, but my friends call me Tails." He introduces himself.

I took a step forward and extend my hand out. "Sonic the Hedgehog, son of Scourge the hedgehog," I didn't forget to bring out my sinister grin.

Though, he shocked me when he shook my hand and didn't tremble. "I know everything about you and your team. It's nice meeting you Rouge the Bat, Shadow the Hedgehog, and 'Princess' Blaze the Cat," He cast his eyes on them.

They audibly utter a greeting, surprised by his calmness. "Now, the pink hedgehog that is next to me is Princess Amelia Rose, daughter of King Arthur, and crowned to rule Camelot," he pulls away from our handshake. He shuts his eyes and extends his arms to the left side of him as if he's presenting something.

Our eyes followed where he's showing. All we see is a blank space. "Nobody's there, bud," I noted. Tails peek his eyes and saw that I was right.

"Dang it. She's late again," he said in an embarrassed voice. "Aww, it's okay! Maybe she will come back later," Rouge tried to cheer him up. Really strange for her to do so.

"Okay, maybe I should show you around," he offered. He started the tour, showing us the campus, our classes, a room the four of us will be sharing and half of Camelot historic artifacts. No Caliburn in sight, sadly. But I'll admit, the place was huge than our institute. It was an hour later until a rabbit ran toward us.

"Tails! Amy is coming downstairs so you have to get out of the way!" the cream-colored rabbit panted. "Cream! What have you done!?" Tails panicked.

She looks back at us and nervously gulps. "I sorta lied to her to wake up...because our guests escaped and are on their way to steal Caliburn..." she fidgety twiddles her fingers.

"WHAT!!" She flinches and shrinks from the glares. "I-I'm sorry," her voice cracked.

Out of nowhere, a mallet flew past my face. "Oh no! It's Amy!" The kitsune cowers. "Run!"

I watched everyone run away from fear. Why do I have to be around these people?

Tails was running around, advising everyone to run. I held back a laugh when I saw him trip on the rug and harshly face-plant on the ground. "Get up, will you?" He sits up and rubs his sore nose.

"You! Hedgehog!" The hammer that was near me flies across the room. A hooded figure retrieves the hammer in her hand as she points a finger at me. "Do you know where I can find Sonic the Hedgehog?"

A mischievous smirk sticks on my face. "Why yes and you are staring at him now."

"Ah, your Sonic the Hedgehog." The figure pulls down her hood, revealing a pink feminine hedgehog. "Greetings. My name is Princess Amelia Rose...your enemy," she throws away her cloak to the side.

I dramatically clap my hands, slowly. "Quite an introduction you have there, 'your highness'." I let out a fake, loud yawn.

She fumes and raises her mallet in the air. "Quiet fool! You aren't going to get Caliburn!" She slams the hammer to the ground, making the floor tremble. I held on the stair rails and glares back her.

That girl took this opportunity to charge. I quickly moved out of the way when she swings. She tried again but this time I jumped up high and landed behind her. I kicked the back of her knees, making her fall.

"That squeaky girl lied to your face," I watch her try standing up, wincing. "How gullible you are. How embarrassing to have a queen like-" I was interrupted by her battle cry. Next thing you know, I was tackled to the ground.

We rolled across the floor which led to me being on top of her. Her face brightens when she notices the small gap we have. I pin her wrists above her, taking this moment to take in her appearance.

An attractive, young girl. A petite one. Her short pink quills were spread out with her three bangs covering her right eye. She closes that eye from letting her bangs poke it. I pushed it aside with my free hand. She flutters her Jade eyes again with those long eyelashes.

Not a single word was released for a while. She decides to break the ice by clearing her throat. "Um...could you get off of me?" She coyly asks.

Realizing what position we are, I let go of her wrists and get off of her. I stood up and ran a hand through my quills. "Your fault," I muttered.

Now on her feet, she cutely pouts. "Please, I don't want to fight with you anymore. You are my guest..." She scans the empty building. I, too, did the same. That fox boy was not here.

"Forgive me but where are your...um...friends? Team?" She was unsure of what to call my gang. "They ran. Fox boy warned them to run," I informed.

I extend a hand out for her. "Would you do the honors and help me find my people, that is if you're not afraid to hold hands with your enemy?"

The same pink tint returns to her cheeks. "I-I guess," She placed her dainty hands on mines.

I don't know about her but I have a feeling this will be an interesting mission now that a cutie is chasing after my tail.
