❀ 001

CHAPTER ONE.

DEAR DIARY,
Today was awful. But also interesting.
I liked it... sort of!

Sincerely, Vivi

She wasn't raised as a typical princess— she wasn't raised to know she had to be a princess. After Anastasia and Dimitri left Paris, they began to travel the world together. Getting married, having a beautiful baby girl and a dashing boy, it all just fell through naturally. Her brother, Nikolai Sudayev, was one of her major role models in life, along with her parents. But for what reason, you may be wondering. Well, Nikolai has always been such a free spirit— as their parents wanted him to be. Just recently, he started to travel on his own. Vivienne so desperately wanted that for herself too. That's why on her 16th birthday, Vivienne Sudayev had the biggest news in her life.

"Auradon Prep? Why can't I be like Nikolai, sailing the seas? Exploring every country— he's literally having the best time of his life!"

"Because there's still much for you to learn, my little dove," Dimitri told his daughter, stirring some tea in a cup before placing it in front of Anastasia. The three sat in their dining room, the afternoon sun shining. "We had a small chat with your great grandma, and she told us it was a decision we had to talk to you about."

"I know it's not ideal, my love," said Anastasia, placing her hand on Vivienne's. "But we could only teach you so much— Vivi, you're destined to follow whatever you desire. But that still comes with a price."

"Well," Vivienne scrunched her nose at the idea of going to school, having been homeschooled for most of her life. She wasn't quite sure how it was going to be, but her parents had a point. Even with them constantly seeing great wonders, Vivienne could admit a school wouldn't be too bad— it wouldn't feel as lonely anymore especially since she only sees her brother once in a blue moon. "Well, I mean I guess so."

"You'll be starting school in a couple of weeks, it's best to get yourself ready," Dimitri smiled. "Give it a week or two, I heard it's pretty great."

And so here Vivienne was now, standing in front of the school after her parents bid their farewells— after a dozen kisses from her mother and a dozen more 'one last hug' from her father. Vivienne probably had the best family— well, in her opinion. It broke a piece in her as she watched them travel farther and farther from the school. She looked up at the beast statue that stood in front of her, the girl's head tilting in curiosity. She was, however, snapped out of her thoughts of concentration as the statue turned into a king. "Agh!" Vivienne yelped in fear, jumping back from where she stood. "What the hell?!"

"Interesting isn't it?" a voice called, making the girl whip her head around just to see who was talking. "My father had the statue installed here– it morphs from beast to man. It's to remind us that anything is possible."

"Amazing, do all the statues do this too?" Vivienne asked, which came out rather sarcastic. The boy in front of her could only stare, the girl immediately hiding her face in her hand. "Right– sorry. I'm Vivienne Sudayev, daughter of Anastasia and Dimitri."

"We've been expecting you— Ben Florian, Belle and the Beast," he introduced himself, sticking his hand out towards her. She gladly shook it with a nod. "Welcome to Auradon Prep." Vivienne smiled as he said those words. Welcome, it's such a cute and fun word to the princess. She could say it over and over and over again. Welcome, welcome, welcome. The girl had to stop herself from doing so, otherwise it would start sounding weird— like how you could say bowl a hundred times and start thinking it sounds weird. "So, shall I show you around?"

"Right! Right, lead the way!" Gladly, Vivienne reached for her bag, only to bump heads with Ben, who was reaching for it as well. "I'm so sorry!" She said, a hand to her forehead.

Ben only shook his head in response. "I'm the one who should apologise, and besides it is my duty to help you with your belongings—"

"Please, allow me to do it myself—"

"I insist—"

"No I insist," Vivienne countered, yanking the bag from his hand. Comedically, she fell backwards, the two staring at each other before sharing a laugh. Ben offered his hand to her once more, this time to help her up. She smiled, taking his hand as she stood up. The girl began to dust her skirt off, giving Ben the opportunity to grab her bag— as intended.

"Vivienne Sudayev, I believe we're going to be great friends."
